ON THE RECENT SPATE OF PIPELINE VANDALIZATION/LAND DEGRADATION: A GOOD MAN LEAVETH AN INHERITANCE TO HIS CHILDREN'S CHILDREN (PROVERBS 13:22a) Just in case they have forgotten, Lagos state, in south-west, Nigeria has joined the league of oil producing states in Nigeria. (Lagos now entitled to13 percent derivation). The Dangote Group to build a $14billion refinery with a refining capacity of 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day at the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos State. Then again, the Dangote Group has built a $20 million dollar facility for tomato paste production in Kano State , northern Nigeria. So if you think that each time an oil pipeline is blown/destroyed, you are degrading the land of DAURA , then think again! Don't stop! Continue destroying these pipelines! Continue polluting our land on a daily basis. I wonder what reasonable explanation(s) you have to give to the generation on ground and the generation(s) yet to come. After the willful destruction spree all in the name of 'Operation Red Economy', what next!! 1 Like |

This is pollution. The communities around about 400/600mtrs.sq. will develop chronic bronchitis & other lung diseases resulting from the gas contaminated air. Thus fighting & in the process killing your own people. |

What pains me most is that we have a president that lacks the brain of a homo sapien. Let us see how they will rule without oil from the south. Go to north good roads but in south bad roads. Release KALU you say no. Let me see how you will rule this country when the country generates nothing. |

militants are crazy people without an iota of wisdom. They destroy their land in the name of fighting the government by the time the effect of their actions start catching up to them, they will start complaining that the government has abandoned them. the day of reckoning is coming lets wait and see by that time Buhari is gone but the damage to the environment will still be there. 1 Like 1 Share |

These people they want to ridicule have houses, can't u go and bomb their houses? So the thing go pain dem well well , if u destroy the pipelines, buhari will get diesel for aso rock for free, all of them don't pay for it , its u, ur families and that will suffer the darkness and pain |

What I see are degenerates supporting criminality on the basis of resource control. It is a great fallacy that we have most oilfields belonging to Northerners. Time and time again I have taken time to list out oil blocks and their ownership status here on Nairaland. Just like corruption, sharing of Nigerian resources takes complete and absolute colouration with all tribes well and equitably represented. To the issue of resource control - I'll start with investments and success; Oil exploration requires a lot of boldness (capital intensive, technologically challenging) and forthwith optimism. Think about how many years the Chad basin has been suggested to be rich in hydrocarbons without any success in terms of exploitation. Now think about this government eventually finding oil which the locals had been sitting upon for years without knowledge or successful exploitation. Would it make sense that this success which would never have seen the light of day had there not been the political, economic and strategic will becoming a source of agitation in years to come? The people getting 13% of the income, the indigenes given rights of first refusal on employment, the people being involved with the corporate entities for social amenities. As someone from the Niger Delta - Ijaw / Itshekiri for that matter I can only look in dismay as miscreants and mischief makers continue to bask in their daily ruinous lifestyle. Make no mistake the economy would take a beating but not before the local communities suffer the cold fate they had wished upon themselves. My People have lost focus in life which is why elections in that part of the world are replete with wanton destruction of properties and cessation of life. There are many here on Nairaland that take great delight in these bleak stories. I liken them to most dull students who can only pray for chaos within the university campus as the day of reckoning (exams) approach. They are ne'erdowells even if you gave them a bullion van full of dollars they would sooner lose it to their vices than make a difference to their lives or immediate society. I'll place a bet on the Niger Delta. I'll keep the result close to my chest but your guess is as good as mine. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Sad it has come to this level. Hope the NLC will give us better reasons to protest this time around. When elders fail, they should be made to pay for their failure. Just hope someone very corrupt ones are not behind the Avengers. |
