Good motive, but intending to setup one, Will be coming here to seek advice once I have bottleneck. Was formally into Poultry but had to shut it down due to low profit and astronomical constant increase in feeds. |

hi guys. I'm new to this group n I've scanned tru ur cool interestin gists on farming. Guys, pls I need constructive advices. I'm putting up a greenhouse where I planned to plant tomato since its off season. While I'm still making plans on buying the seeds (a specie imported from Thailand) I told one of my more experienced farmer friends of my plan and she strongly discouraged me on my choice of crop, saying that tomatoes currently have a kinda pest affecting it (especially the species from the north). she had a bad yield planting it earlier. I'm seriously confused. Fine, my greenhouse construction project will still continue but i don't know whether to continue wit my plans to cultivate tomatoes since my seeds n specie will b diff from hers and I will be doin mine on protected environment and periodically adopting the use of insecticide for pest control. I really don't know my chances with that coupled with the fact I havnt done tomatoes before. however i'm very well acquainted to all its cultural practices. If you advise me against going ahead as I planned, then please could you suggest any other crop I can plant profitably in my greenhouse (I may prefer a crop which is currently high in demand because this is not its season) and which is well suited to grow in a greenhouse. Also advice me on how I can get the seeds. My farms r located in Imo State. Thanks a mil!!! I'm already planting watermelon |

You intend cultivating under a closed environment, there should be no course for alarm. Meanwhile, so many farmers are already selling tomatoes cultivated on an open field condition. Incase you need help in the green house setting up, don't hesitate to reach out. God bless your hustle. |
