Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Saturday declared the Operation Zero Potholes programme of his administration a huge success as it has restored 42 roads in the Diobu suburb of the state.

Also on Saturday, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose commissioned the Bishop Okoye Street in Diobu, commending the people of Rivers State for retrieving the state's mandate from "aliens" who stole the resources of the state.

Governor Wike personally commissioned Azikiwe Street on the point where he flagged off the Operation Zero Potholes programme on May 28, 2016.

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike said the state government expended N4 .3billion to reconstruct 42 roads totalling 22.5 kilometres in the densely populated Diobu axis.
He said that the roads have impacted positively on the lives of the people of Diobu where majority of the less privileged Rivers residents live.

At the Bishop Okoye Street, Governor Wike banned further Street trading on the reconstructed roads and the illegal collection of toll by unauthorised persons.
He commended the contractor for executing the project on schedule and within the approved budget.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose stated that the people of Rivers State are reaping the fruits of their support for Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

He urged the people never to allow political aliens who are only interested in stealing the resources of the state back to the seat of government.
Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Mr Bathuel Iheanyichukwu stated that by constructing 42 roads in Diobu, Governor Wike has ended the suffering of the people.

Caretaker Committee Chairman Port Harcourt Government Area, Sir Soni Ejekwu said the people of the area are happy that the governor reconstructed roads that were neglected since the colonial era.
Diobu suburb plays host to the offices of most national newspapers, markets and electronic shops.

The commissioning of Azikiwe and Bishop Okoye Streets symbolically represented all the roads in the Diobu suburb.

Wike also commissioned Oro-Igwe road.Speaking at the event he said......

"He resolved to construct the Eliozu -Rumunduru-Elimgbu (Oro-Igwe ) road to put an end to the false political promises being made by failed politicians to deceive the people .

The governor said he had to silence those who play politics with road construction by denying communities political projects on account of their political persuasion.
The Oro-Igwe road was completely impassable at the time Governor Wike awarded its construction to Chinese Construction giants, CCECC.

In appreciation, the Oroigwe people conferred the chieftaincy title of: "Omenma Eli 1 of Oroigwe 1 on the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. The traditional council said Governor Wike is the first governor to remember the town.

Governor Wike said: "We had to construct the Oroigwe road to end the era of lies and deception perpetrated by politicians over the years, using the name of this road. Finally, the people of Oro-Igwe will not have unhindered access to their homes and businesses ".

Commissioning the Oroigwe road, Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus praised Governor Wike for implementing the development programmes of the party.
At the Rukpokwu-Eneka road, Governor Wike said the road had to be reconstructed because of its economic importance.

In his remarks while commissioning the road, Former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia described Governor Wike as a child of destiny who has come to transform the state.

Governor Wike renamed Nelson Mandela (SARS ) road as Sir Celestine Ngozichim Omehia road while he stated that the RUMUAHOLU Road which he commissioned would stimulate economic growth in the area.

The Sir Celestine Omehia road was commissioned by the Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Banigo.
Governor Wike was accompanied to the commissioning ceremonies by the Ekiti State Governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives , Hon Austin Opara, Former Minister of Transport, Dr Abiye Sekibo, Members of the National and State Assemblies.

This Fayose na real embarrassment. When everybody was putting strategy in place to get funds, he was busy chasing PMB up and down.

All the states are affected by lower allocations. But only the smart governors knows that they have to commission projects to stay afloat.

Wike understands this and didn't waste time in going repeatedly to his House of Assembly to borrow billions for him.

Either which way, projects are going on, contractors are getting paid, they too will pay their employees, and employees will spend the money in the state, keeping the state economy rolling.

Fayose no get hin own project to commission, despite that he was already a sitting governor before all these guys, hence he is doing attache up and down.

He better go and settle down in Ekiti and brainstorm on the way out of the state economic problems.

He should borrow some wisdom from Buhari, who he likes to shade at every given opportunity.

Hate him or like him, Buhari has tactically stayed away from APC functions in order to concentrate on governance. In fact most times, he delegates the Vice President to stand for him.

This Fayose has put all PDP's issue on his own head, ignoring governance at his home state. Now the state is on the edge, monthly allocation has gone below 1billion, wage bill is above 1billion, state budget is about 60billion. How on earth will he be able to achieve anything if allocations in the state continues below the 1billion naira mark. Despite all his dictatorial tendencies in shoring up the state IGR, the IGR has refused to deliver something encouraging.

He better leave politics for now and go and sit his ass down in his state and create solutions.
He is taking the love Ekiti people have for him for granted, he seems to have forgotten that Ekiti people can be very loyal, but once they turn against you, it is usually very difficult to re-win their loyalty.

Talkative ineffective Fayose.

One irony about Fayose that a number of his supporters outside the state do not know, is that Fayose is even more dictatorial than Buhari. If someone like him should become a president, there will be serious consistent confusion, riots and daily protests.

Kudos to Wike for his projects. I hope he has fixed that Trans Amadi road all the way to slaughter, the last time I was in PH, the entire place was an eyesore.
