Schools must have bribed some top religious wigs. Religion mixed with politiricks. Its the people that will suffer. JAMB quality should be upgraded and post UME scrapped. There is no need for students to write both. Its waste of money and a means for schools to rob the student masses of their cash It also opens door for bribery and extortion whereby students are made to pay for spots. This reduces the chances of poor atudents who can not afford to bribe. Their spots get taken by a wealthier student who can bribe his way through. depending on Jamb reduces the point of contact students have with their institution of choice. This ensures less fuckery with grades and addmission. Whereas, if the schools decide to up their cut off mark for entry based on jamb scores alone, there is better chance for deserving students to get spots in their schools of choice. As the only point of decision lies in the Jamb result alone. I believe that UNIs are bribing people to defend their money well. we all know how much schools make from those post UME exams. No be beans. They will do everything to keep that money wheel spinning. I won't be surprised if other bodies join the que. Money can buy almost anything. 1 Like |

DanielPop: And one way we have to fix the flaws.....is by privatising most of the primary and secondary schools in Nigeria...so that the Educaiton ministry has more time to adequately fund the schools it has. But Nigerians will promptly cry that the ''poor'' won't get educated. Another thing....we have to deal with cheating. And finally, we have to improve the standards of teaching colleges |

Islam itself is an embodiment of knowledge. Don't come here and speak ignorantly. Only fools speak ignorantly in the midst of knowledgeable people |

delishpot: Please don't forget the idea behind the introduction of postutme by our schools, other posted have already highlighted some facts and let me tell you, the need for postutme cannot be down-played, it has almost if not totally, eradicated the manace of admission sharp practices that were experienced in the 90's and early 2000. it has sent most of the so called admission agents into packing, with post utme i.e. taking OAU for example, once a candidate can obtain 200+ in utme, he needs to obtain another 200 or + in the post jamb after which the school admission board will now sit down and determine the no of students to be admitted and hence, peg a mark based on the back already scored by the applicants seeking admission into a particular course. This has helped many to gain admission without knowing anybody or connection but tru self effort. what i think we need is to ask the institution why they are charging exhobitant fee from candidate. i think a token of 1k should be enough. and lastly, if this decision comes to effect, I pity a lot of those candidate without money and connection. 2 Likes |

seunlayi: Well, what I heard was that bribery is higher now. As runs guys have created offices in Unis. I hear it is easier to bribe now and get your name into the school admission list now if you can pay for it compared to before. So far, this Post UME is just a money making venture for Universities no more no less. Bribery did not reduce and quality of education they give has not improved. |
Re: We Reject Scrapping Of Post-jamb –MURIC by Rexyl(m): 1:09pm On Jun 03, 2016 |
Quakertellicus1: primary and secondary schools are failing students and can't offer the best we could have expected from our youths. Alas! Universities and other higher institutions have worsened the situation with the introduction of post utme. Imagine one university last year, after the conduct of post utme introduced new courses and advertised another utme which initially was N4000 to register. The moment application was increasing, they increased the fees to N6000 and ended up registering 25,000 candidates for only 2,500 vacancies. So far higher institutions in Nigeria are creating opportunities for biz, not for quality education and competent products. 1 Like |

Wat we should b agitating for is d provision of jobs to d unemployed graduates dat are on ground instead of creating avenue for graduates to become unemployed again! |
