A mobile sewing machine can help with those small stitches

I don't think so. I would rather buy a table sewing machine which can deal with all types of sewing.

Most fridge bulbs and sewing machine light bulbs are the same as long as you follow the specifications which is- 15V, 240w and the screw cap is SES. You can’t go wrong. The difference between the two is just the packaging.

Ma pls are you in lagos. Can i learn physically from you?

What kind of problems are you having? This thread has really helped me understand armholes a lot. I too used to have problems.

I know that the difference between the front and back arm hole is 1/2".
Re: Sewing for beginners by salewa01: 1:11pm On Dec 18, 2017

What is the actual measurement of your armhole?
Re: Sewing for beginners by marylandcakes: 5:56am On Dec 20, 2017
I’m going to assume that your armhole measurement is 18”
That means that the half length is 9” for the back and front.
Your shoulder slope will be 3/4” drop. (Medium for standard)
Start your arm hole measurement after the shoulder slope drop if it is a top with sleeves and at the shoulder point if it is a sleeveless top.
For your arm hole curve go out 1” to draw your curve, but for the front you will have to go in 1” before drawing the armhole curve. I will do a diagram for you later so you can understand it later.

Thanks for your lovely comments.

When making a pencil skirt you only add dart allowance to the waist circumference not the hips. You can add 1/4” ease allowance to the hips.

Nice thread.A fashion Intern is needed in Lagos. He or She must be able to cut/sew male and female cloths. And must be within Isheri,Idimu,Council and its environs.Interested persons should send their e-mails to -enoah51@yahoo.com.Payment is based on the number of cloths you sew.

The video above clearly shows how you make a circle skirt and also how to add gemstones to fabric. There is also a bit of bias making. Please let me know if you have any queries. Thanks

Hi Marylandcakes, I'm just seeing this thread for the first time. I really have passion and flair for sewing and fashion designing and I've been looking for good AFFORDABLE places to learn around here in Surulere Lagos but haven't seen yet. Seeing this thread is like a dream come true for me and I hope it will really help me learn from the scratch.
I'm going to be using my mum's sewing machine and sewing equipments.
You are really doing a great work, keep it up!
Thanks!

Welcome on board,

Me too I have learnt a lot from this thread, Its such a shame that this thread is hidden in this section.

I got my sewing machine a couple of months back with tips and guidance from the OP. Why pay for a sewing class when you can get it free?

The only cost is your data.
