Wema probe: Police says more heads to roll Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Investigations, Mr. Keran Dudari, on Tuesday in Abuja said that more bank executives would be arrested in connection with alleged financial shenanigans at Wema Bank Plc. Dudari told the News Agency of Nigeria that “many banks are involved in the scam and many of the personnel are managing directors of their respective banks.” “We will arrest, investigate and prosecute all those involved.” Dudari said that the Special Fraud Unit of the Force Criminal Investigation Department had already arrested many suspects in the probe. “I can confirm to you that many of them are being detained and many more bank officials will be arrested I do not want to give more details because it will jeopardise our investigation,‘‘ he said. The Managing Director of the Wema Bank, Mr. Adebisi Omoyeni was arrested on March 26, in connection with a case of alleged forgery of the minutes of board meetings. - Punch |

Prince11: You're right there prince. I guess you meant NBC. Results are imminent and price is low right now. This will be the safe zone now to take position. Its fortunes have been improving based on previous results. Good turnaround. I'd like to see DSR's behaviour tomorrow. |

JAZES: Trully speaking, if you read my post about 2 months ago when they were going about their offer, i seriously castigated this bank and its offer because i knew they had seriously inflated the price over a very short time just because they wanted to raise funds. If you're in the long term, i'd suggest you do away with that thing. As per Big treat, not sure how the price manipulation accusation will play out for this stock. But anything that goes down must go up. Big Treat i believe will recover later. You could probably sell then and seek other opportunities which are showing face again. |

FatherOF2: Hello FO2, you are quiet right there. Most guys have ben doing serious panic selling at serious losses. I bought some bigtreat (speculative) just before it started dropping but I can't be found panic-selling. PATIENCE is teh game, and like I said somewhere, YOU NEVER LOOSE MONEY OR GET BURNT IN THE NSE UNTIL YOU HAVE SOLD. |

FatherOF2: Yeah, I actually got tired of waiting for the thing. I exited at close to 30 with my head still intact to enter Polyprod (which gave me about 50% gain, and I exited to enter berger, which is where I am now). I'm seriously sulking for not having cash in this bear season when It is wonderful to take position, but if my plans on some stock work e.g DSR, I'll cash out of them to take position in new opportunities popping up. I will be contacting you for any tips or advice |

Octupus: No one is sure yet. But spectulators will drive up the price in the coming days.If we knew the bonus ratio, traders will factor it into the price very quickly. Right now GTB will test new highs before they announce. Thisday and others have let the cat out of the bag. I don't think i'm going to wait till they announce. I'll see what the price will be when its about to test a new high and compare with its fair value with bonus consideration of between 1 for 4 to 1 for 6 in mind and then make my exit if i see i'm ok at the new high or see if bonus will make any impact. These days bonus is not a guaranty for a rally for stocks which have the air soaked with rumour weeks preceeding. |

I hve heard of potfolio management and percentage charges. I am not in nigeria and would like to know more about a company or individual that is available to manage a potfolio with a percentage charge. How does that work and can someone help out and what would be the equation, 90/10? I am serious |

Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Femtex(m): 9:41pm On Apr 02, 2008 |
Abu-Maryam: I will say, thread softly on Adswitch. I have EPS of 4.16K with PE ratio of 156.98. This is based on their quarter two result which I doubled with outstanding shares of 125m. If it’s up to me, this is a no go area. I believe Glasosmith is good at today’s price (or it might go a little lower). I guess people responded to the result by dumping the stock when the FY result fails to meet expectation. I guess many people were probably expecting bonus, instead of the 45K dividend they are now paying. Based on today's price, its trailing PE is about 24 which put it in my buy list. |
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by AbuMaryam1(m): 10:12pm On Apr 02, 2008 |
@ femetex thanks for the respond i will shine my eyes on Glaxosmith, and regarding ADSWITCH i thnk is a good stock for cico considering the R.S.I has fallen to zero. Abi there's freezn point? Negetive value. |
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by jonyjoscom(m): 11:04pm On Apr 02, 2008 |
@All Abeg make una tell me what to do. I asked my broker to buy me Transcorp 2weeks ago and Dangote Sugar(because of bonus) but he told me that transcorp was not available and for DangoSuga, he mistakenly over booked above the available fund, when realised it, he cancelled the order as he told me. I forgot about them and travelled for Easter; only for me to come back and saw in my account 100k of Transcorp @4.4 and 50k of DangoSuga @47. hanging a debt of almost 3m on my neck. When i confronted them, he told me that I did not cancel the transcorp order but for the Dangosuga, if I like he will sell them(including my initial 22k units) to pay off my debt, then I will keep the bonus and dividend. But my dilemma is this: if I sell Tangos now, i will be losing close to 700k, if i don't sell , I will pay huge interest at the end of the day on the debt. Secondly, I don't know what will become of these stocks in a short term(gaining or losing). This is because only short term can help me in this situation and I need to make a decision whether to sell them now or wait a little longer. But I must take a stand now!!!! Please help o!!! |
