I think something is wrong with you. How can a sane person collect a phone without explaining to the guy what his offence is and asked him to come and meet them at the station. I cannot understand the kind of individuals recruited to join the Police force.I believe that those recruited are mostly of questionable characters.

Write the IG and explain this issue because officers at his level are the only sane officers.If you can contact his office, those idiots will be fished out.

I think they should stop recruiting any school certificate holders to any law enforcement position/work. First degree holders who must be thoroughly investigated to know their background and must be sent for special training before they are officially drafted to do any police job should be the type of persons to be in those offices.

Those recruited with ordinary school cert, tend to have criminal minds as they want to be rich at all cost hence giving the police force bad name. Most of them cannot differentiate ordinary papers they are asking after. They cannot take proper decision by themselves as they do not know what they ask for and can convict a suspect before taking the suspect to any law court.

The receipt of a thing is nonsense of the highest order. So if u buy a phone a couple of years ago, u shld still keep the receipt? If you buy a phone on the street (a friend, middle man or online marketplace), where receipts are likely not issued? He ll be jailed right? Can they provide the receipt for theirs?

I thought of opening a thread, to complain about the, extra judicial killings, harassment, oppression, and intimidation of the police in warri, effurun and udu.

What the op narrated is exactly what they do. They stop you, ask you to bring out your phone and the receipt. If the receipt of the phone is not on you sorry that is the end of the phone same thing with laptops and other electronics gadgets.

The nigerian police are actually our worse enemy. I was arrested about two years by men of the nigerian police by 7pm in a market, my offence according to them was buying cow meat by 7pm, a young man I met in the cell was arrested for illegal standing.
