Buy Nigeria to make the naira grow is a great mantra. We have seen some fantastic Nigerian products such as shoes, apparels, pharmaceutical products even cars, but how sustainable is the policy? There is no much policy thrust in this direction. This has put the indeginous enterprise on a defensive mode.

Nigeria just like other African countries is heavily dependent on import especially from the west. Lately, the Asian gas taken a swab on the African continent and Nigeria isn’t an exception. I am writing as a man on the street not as an economics . The policy of buy Nigeria seems to be dead on arrival. Before this buy Nigeria mantra can be awoken, first, we must awaken our patriotism. Leadership has always been hinged on example and when Nigerians see their leaders travelling out of the country to visit an occultist for minor problem. It indirectly sends a message to Nigerians that ENT medics aren’t qualified. This is where buy Nigerian has failed especially in medical sector. Indirectly this attitude encourages medical tourism.

Patriotism patriotism and patriotism is the key. The Americans are proud of their Ford mustang, the Germans proud of their Mercedes-Benz,the Japanese will tell you that infinity is the best car that is ever produced while the British will flaunt their Rolls Royce. What are we proud of as Nigerians? We take delight in driving these foreign cars and best o the lest models whereas we have our own brands such as innoson (IVM) We can be proud of it. They said “If you have it flaunt it “ We have it let us fluent it. We sound to be turning our products “Igbo made”. Even though they might be of low quality, which I doubt because most of my sons are Nigerian made, we must have pride in these ownership..... https://etimesafrica./2016/08/10/killing-nigerian-enterprise-on-the-altar-of-globalisation/
