The God Of Old Testament And That Of New Testament Cannot Be The Same by Vendoor(f): 5:56pm On Aug 10, 2016 |
The Bible God of Old Testament often command israelites his people to destroy their neighbors (Moabites, Philistines, e.t.c). Thus sayest thy Lord to the King through The prophet. Then, hundreds of Thousands of armies match into the battle field with heavy losses from both side. Sometimes, the israel God fortify his own with extra power to destroy their Neighbors. The reason because they are unbelievers and offcause, some other hidden motives. The New Testament on the other hand suggest that God want us to love our neighbors just as we love ourselves, Thus a God of peace and love, not war. And the act of killing must be avoided at all course. Well, the bringer of the second message was brutally murder because his words did not align with God of the Old Testament. Thus, his message became a threat to the existing priestly and prophetic ordinances of israel. Blending these two Gods together was the biggest blonder made by early christians and you trying to classify both as one today will be the most illogical conclusion you will ever arrived. Just try it, I'm waiting! 2 Likes 1 Share |

The New Testament God is actually far more cruel than the Old Testament God. The Old Testament God would have you disemboweled or stoned to death for not being a Jew or for disobedience, but once you were dead, that was the end of your punishment. The New Testament God pretends to be loving while you're alive, but once you die he burns you alive for ever and ever. ISIS also burns people alive, but once they are dead, that is the end. This makes the New Testament God worse than ISIS because he continues to impose the worst possible torture imaginable on people for all eternity. And the unjust punishment doesn't depend on whether you were a kind person or a wicked person in life. Salvation comes from being lucky to have heard and believed a highly illogical story and having a chance to beg for forgiveness before you die. 19 Likes 4 Shares |

Seun:Why do you always attack the christian God and refrain from doing the same with the moslem God? Because as far as I can tell, both seem to be siamese twins. |

Vendoor: It is understandable to feel the way you do, but their are no Gods there, it is the same God, both for the old testament and the new. The different is that the Israelites were Gods covenant people. All these started with Abraham who became obedient to God to the extent of acquiring a promise for his seed. It was these promise and the eventual seed that made Israelites Gods special people. Israelites became a nation to produce a seed from which all nation will benefit the!selves. These special nation, Israel, were threatened by their enemies. In other to protect there territory, they needed to fight and God was often with them cos He saw them as special owing to the promise he handed to their forefather. They were people bearing His name. During the christian era, however, the seed of promise had arrived, and the way for all the nation to benefit from God's provision in sight. God extended his hand towards the uncircumcised nations of the world. This was a new thing. Now, since people from all nation can now serve God wherever they are, authorizing war was no longer necessary since no particular geographic area can claim the sole worshiper of God. In the Old Testament, God personally asked the Israelites to stone a man for gathering firewood on the sabbath day, but in the New Testament, Jesus blasts the Pharisees for being too strict about keeping the sabbath and allows his disciples to break it in letter, if not in spirit, repeatedly. After he died, Christians were permitted to disregard the sabbath completely. How did the God who personally oversaw the execution of a man for picking firewood on the sabbath suddenly change into a God that doesn't particularly care whether people keep the sabbath or not? The reason he gave for wanting people to keep the sabbath - that he created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th - certainly still applies. Numbers 15:32-36: When the Israelites were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the sabbath day. Those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses, Aaron, and to the whole congregation. They put him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him. Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him outside the camp.” The whole congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. Another difference is that the God of the Old Testament really hates foreskins - even though he created them! Even before his covenant with the Jews, he commanded his followers such as Abraham to circumcise their children. There's a bizarre incident in Exodus where God was literally trying to kill Moses over this issue of circumcision. This was when Moses was on his way to Egypt after God called him to free the Jews: Exodus 4:24-26: On the way, at a place where they spent the night, the Lord met [Moses] and tried to kill him. But Zipporah [Moses' wife] took a flint and cut off her son’s foreskin, and touched Moses’ feet with it, and said, “Truly you are a bridegroom of blood to me!” 26 So [God] let [Moses] alone. It was then she said, “A bridegroom of blood by circumcision.” How could God go from almost killing the great prophet Moses for not circumcising his son to inspiring Apostle Paul to write the words below? Galatians 5:2-4: Listen! I, Paul, am telling you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you. Once again I testify to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obliged to obey the entire law. You who want to be justified by the law have cut yourselves off from Christ; you have fallen away from grace 10 Likes 2 Shares |

Seun: Jesus is the lord of the sabbath, and never did Gods word forbid what Jesus disciples did on the sabbath. Jesus himself proved the Pharisees wrong. Luke 6. The sabbath resting in the law was a shadow of something greater. Heb 4:8-10 Another difference is that the God of the Old Testament really hates foreskins - even though he created them! Even before his covenant with the Jews, he commanded his followers such as Abraham to circumcise their children. There's a bizarre incident in Exodus where God was literally trying to kill Moses over this issue of circumcision. This was when Moses was on his way to Egypt after God called him to free the Jews: God chose not to bring Christians to keeping it, the law was out of the way by Christ's death, that is what Paul meant. The law which served as a tutor leading to Christ stopped when its purpose was accomplished 1 Like |

Vendoor: I don't know what you mean that Gods words doesn't change. God proclaimed the destruction of Neniveh, but changed when he saw them change. God on occasions has announced the punishment of some people in the divine record, but made a change to those pronouncements. The Israelites were Gods special people, but when they rejected His son, He brought secondary seed for Abraham from the gentiles. And the holy temple in Jerusalem was rejected as an acceptable place of worship although God previously decreed that it was an acceptable place of worship. A place that previously bore His name. The only thing that does not change is Gods purpose. However, he does not set an unchangeable way to reach that purpose. I understand your confusion cos that is what the churches teach, but this is wrong. |

The israelites were one of the most cruel human on the face of the earth and this cruelty influenced the written of the old testament. I have discovered that almighty is a pure LOVE but gruesome runs in the vain of mortal man, if you check the old testament you will discover that there are alots of atrocities committed by these israelites under name of God to make it acceptable and paint God of what HE IS NOT. Racism ran in their blood but jesus came to show us the true God, israelites used the name of God to robbed, killed , molested and looted people. God is love. 1 Like |

psucc:Sigh.... This is called the wonder of delusion. So, you are the clay and your God is the Potter? But I think that we are discussing the personality of two living entities and not a clay. But better still, Christian are clay since they have mouth but can't ask question and eventually failed the first law of knowledge which is knowledge interrogation. You are a clay because you have eyes but choose not to use it to see by believing in the unseen. You are a clay by been delusional and reluctant towards anything sane. This is just a confession from a Christian brother that they are a clay but as for me and my other folks we choose not to be a clay. 2 Likes |
