And what will ordinary rubber glove and helmet do where 33kv is happily flowing with current capable of roasting one alive. You don't work on live line.what i expect NEPA to do is to apply a safety measure called LOTO.As in log out and tag out.it has to do with switching off the line and be in control of the key before carrying out preventive and reactive maintenance on it.That way, you will deliver your work safely without injury,fatality or damage to equipment.

A 37 year old official of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company [KERDCO], Usaini Usman, was electrocuted while disconnecting an electricity cable in Kano today August 19th. Usaini lost his life after his head made contact with a high tension power line at the Federal College of Education, Kano.


He was rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Exactly my brother. Most Nigerian so called PHCN field workers, when you ask them why they don't put on their helmet, they will tell you that it doesn't matter that it's their job and nothing will happen.

My goodness, another work man lost to negligence to Health Safety and welfare by the employer.

Why cant things be done right in Nigeria? They find it difficult to promote and support safety in the country but would rather embezzle money.

Nigerian workforce please learn to say NO if the job is unsafe and would have adverse effect on you for when you injure or die you and your family may not be getting compensation and guess what? they will employ another fellow straight up to continue your work.

A simple job hazard analysis, well monitored Permit to work and appropriate PPE would have saved this noble work man today.

In Nigeria, Safety measures in Places of work is never taking seriously. Yet, every day people work happily to their early graves due to incidence that could have being avoided.

Don't be surprised if you heard that all those things were provided but he didn't use it, many or almost all of them don't like using it. Even Okada riders would tell you that they have helmets but hate using it.
