@Everyone, this is to stop all d rumors datz been spreading about British High Commission not processing or accepting visa applications. The BHC is still accepting applications nd also processing applications. The British High Commission in Abuja and its liaison office in Kaduna were not receiving visitors or public enquiries on Monday 29th August and was closed for the Eid break on 30th and 31st August. Although they said there may likely be a delay in the processing of visa applications, because they are currently reviewing d security arrangement of d BHC offices. check it out here ukinnigeria.fco.gov.uk/en/news/?view=PressR&id=650168182 @Big Phil, when and which of d vfs centres did u apply for your visa? |

Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered by raphok: 9:53pm On Sep 02, 2011 |
@samsanyus, it took 16 working days. I applied 5/08/11 and was sent confirmation of transfer that day. My status remained that way till about 5pm 29/08/11 when i noticed in the monitoring site that decision has been made on my application and its in transit from Abj to point of application. An hour later or so i checked and found the status changed to Parcel have been delivered I should go for collection and got sms to that effect too. I then needed to wait till after the Muslim 2dys break to know my fate and collected it yesterday. Thank God it went well, just relax it will come out good as long as you did everything like was treated in this forum. mine even had some sloppy side to which I had to balance with maths in essay, even my school were not so sure of it will go down well but overall it went well.Best wishes bro |

Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered by raphok: 2:21am On Sep 03, 2011 |
@samsanyus, thanks your rejoicing is next@Big Phil, as long as you got the initial sms from them and have your monitoring ref no nothing spoil. In my case it kept on showing same error stuff for some days before it started indicating details contained in the sms@All, right now if you have applied just keep your cool it sure will come out. And if you have not applied, but intending to do so soon please be fast about it. Remember to follow the guide in UKBA site, go through the instructions very well spend time to go through some few pages of this thread, like me I finished the pages, but I assure you,…like justwise told me, a few will do, but perfectionist me refused to listen and just wearied myself. Ask questions on what is not clear to you both in this forum and the relevant departments in your school to be very sure trust me you can’t go wrong with this thread and the wonderful people like justwise here. Use unaltered dossiers, explain why things are the way they are, follow your CAS letter to the letter don't assume anything. The koko: anything that will make your application info unclear and look disjoint hence raise eyebrows please seem together by giving easy to understand explanations at the additional info section of your form don't leave them with open ended puzzle fix with any solution because their reference may differ from your own and that may mask your effort and be your undoing. I hope this helps, go get your visa at a go. |

Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered by carfreak: 11:03pm On Sep 03, 2011 |
Hi Ell 777 and Justwise, I've actually read through the first 5 and last 10 pages of this thread and its been quite interesting. I applied for my visa via the Lekki office on Aug 15 and thought it'll be a walk in the park with my visa issued after 10days max but that has not been the case. I visited the UK in Sept 2007 and again Sept 2010 and in both visits didnt spend more than 1 week, so i'd say i have a rather good travel history but its day 12 now and i'm still waiting. Unlike Bountimore, Nana28 and a couple of other people, i dont think i have their strength of patience because i have actually resigned my appointment because of this MBA programme which begins on Sept 26. I have a couple of questions 1. I included an acknowleged copy of my resignation letter which states it is as a result of this MBA, does that count for anything? 2. To obtain my CAS, my sponsor only required that i pay a deposit of £1000 as part of my tuition as well as pass the IELTS exam, which i did/have. However, in posts i've seen, people seem to have either paid all of their tuition or a reasonable amount and even though i have the balance of this as well as the maintenance in my account, i'm a little bothered. I have actually secured private private accommodation via my sponsor and have even paid both the deposit, room rent and agency fee upfront though i still provided fully for my maintenance, should i be bothered? 3. More worrisome for me is that as a Banker, i have spoken to my audit guys in the office who confirm statements of accounts from embassies, to alert me once a call for mine is sought however as at Friday (day 12), the embassy has not sought confirmation of my statement of account. Should i again fret? 4. Rather than use my staff/current account, i applied using my savings account so is this a likely challenge? More so, i actually need to draw from this account and the amount will definitely go below the maintenance requirement but i'm thinking that owing to the fact that i've already met the pre-described 28 day circle, then i can draw below the balance expected but still make sure it again gets to the expected figure in say 2 or 3 days. is this advisable? Sorry to be asking so much bt i'm actually sick and tired of checking the internet and every sms i get on my phone. I've already suffered enough heart palpitations from my dear club Arsenal. Please advise. Thank u. |
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered by raphok: 2:00am On Sep 04, 2011 |
@alaki, i had scholarship award letter award dated 2010 that when used favours my plan as i paid the balance in my personal bank account to offset the deficit for upkeep fees and increase in tuition from 2010/2011 to 2011/2012. Meanwhile my first down payment was made in feb 2011 which is another date and 5th Aug 2011 is my app date after the over 28 days- this drop 3holes in the choice of OANDA rate to use. Award letter in dols and personal statement in naira. If you use the first date it adds up as advantage for me as everything will balance because dols was doing well against the gbp but UKBA wont use this date and unfortunately this was the date I planned with before funding my personal account. If you use the feb date between 28th june and 5th August i am making my application with that sum in my personal savings account the drop in dols against gbp anytime from outside 28 that i payed it in will not make it work again. Using any of these dates will mean I didnt measure up financially. To my amazement I found out that the ukba will only run their converter on the date I made the application be it the award letter or personal savings this my uni affirmed to a number of times- be it international office, registry, cas name the unit;something i never anticipated but here i am in lagos ready to submit my application even already running out of patience for 2dys I was running my calculator, sending mails ang getting same replies, rereading through this thread, and the ukba guide over and over again. The only true option that was left for me was to forward some money to the school account and ask them to update my cas to the ukba based on the findings I made from this thread but i was not ready for any thing this legal, because i was out of my state already didn't even tell them at home about it, contacted two friends later on to help me with the money to go legal eventually after two days of unceasing play with my calculator to no avail. Why I was accepting my legal option and tirelessly playing with my toil I stumbled on the idea that if I use the oanda rate for the first payment in gdp convert it to dols that i will get the remaining dols from the overall dols worth which i can ask them to use the oanda exchange for application date on as long as it doesn't drop by the next morning and the stuff would balance. And thank God it didn't drop any further. You see if i had left them with this puzzle to solve for me they would have chosen date of application which is the worst option out of the bad option. I had to make up my essay with SHL-like maths calculation in easy to understand manner showing this calculation and making them see why they shouldn't chose a single date and i added a copy of the oanda rate for this date and also told them about it in the writeup and submitted my application. Thank God it worked!!! |

Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered by nology: 9:21pm On Sep 04, 2011 |
@Justwise, please I will like u to answer this. As I'm still waiting for my visa, I have been withdrawing frequently from my account. But I haven't gone below d money required nd won't go below it. I deposited 190k to add up with d money required to be in my account, which showed on d day I printed my bank statement. Since then I have withdrawn like 7 times, which when summed up is like 100k for total withdrawals so far. Please I will like to know if I am still safe or not. Thanks |

I want to apply on Tuesday. Please @justwise if I use a joint account where I'm a co-signatory. Will I be required to hold double the required amount or slightly above it. Also, will I be expected to get a covering note from the other person whom is a signatory too. Pls don't feel offended by this, but some people just know how to talk fear into others. |

@gbaby87, do not mind my scenario I am trying to paint, all am saying is that instead of waiting for them to figure out what is not clear in your application just explain it simple to understand way to them so that they don't get it from another point and deny one the visa. |

Hi all, please who knows how long Visa applications take in Lagos now. cause I wonder why it's taking so long. Another question is; will the BHC start to speed up the process because we are getting closer to the end of September? |

Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered by nology: 6:37pm On Sep 05, 2011 |
@Cori_corde, Normally, visa processing speed during this period is slow because of d number of applications they receive. You shouldn't be worried cos your own case is different. From your previous post Hi guys, I was here last year actually. I got my Student visa last year around this time. Actually, I did a foundation programme in Uni. Glamorgan last year and I will be needing a visa extension to continue my degree ( which i will finish in three years) No, I already read the visa extension pages on the UKBA website and it said I will be needing to show my full fees for my first year + maintenance funds for only two months ( which is equivalent to 1200 pounds since I'm outside the London Boroughs) I'm sure of this but I need to be extra sure. My current visa expires in October this year and I'll be submitting my application on Thursday after the holiday. (+ I completed my foundation programme just three months ago) u said u want to apply for an extension of visa for your 3 yrs course. From earlier post by others I've seen, most people that applied in Lagos for an extension/renewal get their visa early(around 2wks). Visa extension/renewal doesn't take much time when compared to an initial application for a tier 4(general student visa). So have u applied? |
