TayserMahiri: I've always said part of our problem is our media! Remember how they said its a 'white elephant/overpriced ' etc etc ? The folks went down to the Coast 2 weeks back. ITS FULLY BOOKED TIL LATE SEPTEMBER!? You'll be lucky to get a seat before October. Only if someone cancels. Right now its only 2 daily trains ferrying 2400 passengers and indications are at least another 2 will be added soon. 2 Likes |

kikuyu1: Lol, there are media houses that specialize in negative vibes. The trains are actually being increased to six. They should be six already by now. 3 to and 3 fro. per day "Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala said Thursday that four more Madaraka Express trains will transport passengers between Mombasa and Nairobi starting July. Beginning next month, three trains will transport commuters to Nairobi daily while three others ferry passengers to Mombasa." http://www.businessdailyafrica.com/news/Madaraka-Express-trains-will-increase-six-a-day-July/539546-3992754-j959gvz/index.html The cargo wagons are ready to decongest the port. The fleet consists of 18 freight locomotives and 60 wagons designed for double-stacking. 1 Like

TayserMahiri: In fact I'm told since SGR ops began Msa hotels occupancy rate has increased to 80% and the high season is still 3 months away. I REPEAT,ALL THOSE NAYSAYERS AND EXPERTS SHOULD APOLOGIZE PUBLICLY AND REMAIN FOREVER SILENT! Did you ever read that nigga, Dr Ndii? Basically he said the project would drown us in debt as it was totally unworkable and mountains of other ish.... 1 Like |

kikuyu1:Mind you the passenger service was just a complementary initiative and wasn't even the main thing. The rail system was meant to be almost 98% cargo related but the embrace that Kenyans have given the passenger service all its worth making Kenya railways reconsider restructuring its earlier timetable of routes. 1 Like |

Kenyanstar:the sgr was basically a farce!!....i fail to understand how rail from mombasa to nairobi can cause $3bn. The young turks are looting too much...thats why as much as im a kikuyu i will vote for raila....they guy wants to leave a legacy like Kibaki... |

Muafrika2: Excellent idea. You would imagine the honchos at the helm of Uchumi to see that but oh well... Especially the Mombasa and Nairobi stations. The intermediate stations can be left for smaller outlets. 1 Like |

kikuyu1: Suddenly the project shifts the situation from a shortage of tourists to overwhelming numbers of local tourists. Seriously some people have very weak sense of Big Picture Thinking. They couldn't visualize how such a project was gonna have multiplier effects on various sectors. I stopped taking Dr. Ndii seriously when he appeared on KTN Checkpoint and blabbered very unconvincingly about their manifesto. https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/ktnnews/video/2000132300/-fact-check-dr-david-ndii-outlines-nasa-manifesto 1 Like |

alexxo11: Slowly but surely we seem to be maturing in politics ![]() ![]() ![]() I think you're right Raila wants to leave a legacy. Except I cannot stand some levels of insincerity. When he was Prime Minister, the Nairobi Mombasa section was to cost Ksh 340 billion. Thats what he and Kibaki had settled on after due diligence. The same section has ended up costing 327 billion and he's complaining that money was stolen? How when it actually ended up being cheaper? Its really sad how politicians lie to the uninformed masses just for political mileage. This article was in 2012, towards the end of the grand coalition government. http://www.businessdailyafrica.com/Sh340bn-railway-set-to-open-new--business-centres/-/539546/1634888/-/132uoky/-/index.html 1 Like |

TayserMahiri: Kikiki. If only we could all continue focussing on development and security instead of the crap we get up to and the stupid wars. Hosting such events ain't rocket science, just build the right facilities and guarantee security. Don't forget to have top class restaurants and hotels so you can chow their money while they are busy badmouthing and bitching about you over things they didn't like on CNN and their blogs ![]() 1 Like |
