This thread got completely out of topic and turned to a dick measuring contest

To be frank, Kenya can't be ahead of Nigeria in all aspects, that's impossible. Even mighty China isn't ahead of Nigeria in all aspects, like in the movies sub-industry. But it's a fact that Kenya is ahead of Nigeria in more aspects than those in which Nigeria is ahead of Kenya.

Kenya has a higher literacy rate, more roads and rail per capita, more connection to electricity as a percentage, more developed retail Industry, much diversified (though smaller) manufacturing industry, more banking per capita, Mombasa port handles about as much as what all Nigerian ports combined handle, a more diversified economy, it's even an exporter of refined petroleum despite not producing a single barrel of crude oil.

Nigeria has a larger gdp per capita, more resource exploitation, a more developed entertainment industry, a larger (though less diversified) manufacturing industry, larger banking sector, larger agricultural production etc.

If Nairobi, a city of 3.5m people can boast a same sized (or larger) skyline, almost as many motorways, and more malls than Lagos, a city of 21m people. If Nakuru, a city of 400k ppl can front enough infrastructure and sophistication to compete with Ibadan, a city of 3m ppl, then a lot can be concluded about the 2 countries' development level from this 2 comparisons.

forgiveness:

I think Nigeria is moving pass the stage of waiting for multinationals to open office in Nigeria. We are building our own multinational companies ourselves and some of these companies are opening offices out Nigeria, in Europe, Africa, and America.

Our banks and insurance companies are examples of Nigerian companies becoming the HQs of Multinational companies in Nigeria

Glo network, Dangote, Arik air, Oando, Con oil, GTB bank, Zenith bank, First Bank, etc are all Nigerian's companies becoming multinational. And all these companies have their headquarters in Lagos.

When it comes to infrastructures and housing development in Lagos, you can't imagine. From bungalows to duplexes, to flats, to apartments and mansions, Lagos has them all.

Is Nairobi building apartments 12 - 40 stories? Lagos is already doing that.

Eko Atlantic city is another example of world class housing development in Lagos. It can only be measured with apartments in Dubai.

The population of Nigerians and Africans in Lagos will not make you notice the thousands of expatriates in Lagos but we don't believe they are better than Nigerians that is why Nigeria will not allow unnecessary expatriates for a job Nigerians can do better.

When you talk about malls, we have more than you think. You only know about shoprit but we have others, you don't know.

Lagos is not behind Nairobi when is it comes to infrastructures...

Does Nairobi has mono rail?

Haha your Nigerian pride is blinding you, No nation is an island... All developed countries are full of multinationals, look at Dubai,China, Singapore they all attracted foreign investors to experience economic bubble they had.. Just a reminder Kenya is the biggest investor in Africa by number of ventures and second to S.A by capital, check where nija is and come back...you keep talking about skyscrapers hahaha funny how you forget tallest structures are under construction in Kenya infact by 2020 the tallest building in Nija will be number 10 in Kenya and BTW who would love to leave in a skyscraper when you can leave in a beautiful mansion near the park, around the forest or near a river atypical example of London and Dubai...

Before I forget Asian countries destroyed their mono rail, they weren't beneficial to them.

Shoprite- How can a foreign retailer importing almost all essential commodities from outside Nigeria including basic food stuffs like bananas, eggs and even tissue papers be something to brag about.
Nigerias billionaire Dagonte is in the process of opening a milk value addition plant to cater for the Nigerian market demands here in Kenya. This venture benefits the Kenyan dairy industry and farmers directly since the Kenyan dairy sector is driven by small scale farmers in Kenya. Its a shame Nigeria is over dependent on the oil sector with prices that fluctuate.

You should probably leave your opinions bout religion out of this thread, whether or not you agree, you do not have to insult God.

Speaking of the difference(s) between Naija and Kenya, I find core Kenyans less religiously adherent than Nigerians. Whatever is left of the Pentecostal church there doesn't quite reach out to Kenyans, Kenyans are not God fearing generally, no restraints unlike Nigerians.

gallivant:

Are you for real? These are just scam artists with zero economic value. The fact that Nigerians(giant of Africa) is competing with Kenya proves you have lost the plot and its saddening.

Hmmmm...much diversified industry...biggest lie l
Nigeria
Kenya

Like I once said excluding poverty rate and 24/7 electricity, you are still lagging in other sectors
Building the biggest mall doesn't make you better
...as the second largest mall in the world is referred to as a dead mall due to being vacant...you can build but... Things like mall doesn't translate into you being better...build one biggest and someone can build for equivalent to that size....
Your economy is not near as diversified as ours

You guys really don't understand how population plays...you really think it's easy to develop a 21m state compared to 3.5m...are you guys for real...you can't compare any state to Lagos in your country...with a gdp and per capita higher than that of Nairobi as a whole...take for example if the size in meters of land in Nairobi and Lagos is equal...it translates into Nairobi having many Virgin lands...Lagos is so filled up that land had to be reclaimed from the sea to build the eko Atlantic city...we were both given independence in the 60s and Lagos has grown way beyond you...maybe you should compare those cities with their mates regarding population like Abuja which us even more organised and better

And about ports ,those Ports are used by at least four countries so it's reasonable if it's bigger than ours

And please about education, how much are the paying in Nairobi, kenyatta, moi universities...coz mist of our federal universities are paying less than $100,with a state university saying $80

This thread won't die, eh?
I am curious and would like to know something about Nigeria :
1. Does Nigeria have a tourist industry?
2. If so, what type is it?
3. Is there tourism portal for Nigeria on the internet? something akin to http://www.magicalkenya.com
4. Where can i get info on flight connections within Nigeria?

Thanks.

1, yes we do have

2, Tourism in Nigeria centers largely on events, due to the country's ample amount of ethnic groups, but also includes rain forests, savannah, waterfalls, and other natural attractions.

3, States runs their own portals
