Igbo,Hausa and Yoruba are the major tribes in Nigeria and majorly occupy the Southeast, southwest and North of Nigeria. They can be found in significant number in all parts of Nigeria. The question is about region not tribe. Why is the federal government marginalizing the southeastern part of Nigeria since the end of the civil war,is there a hidden script that every President should marginize the southeastern part of the federation?
what about NE and NC safe abuja?...are they not been neglected?....why are u the ones making noise?

You also gave yourself out by hailing Jonathan and Oduah for the nonsense called international airport they did in Enugu. You are merely playing politics. A bad one indeed.

Have you heard.. the notion..that half bread is better than none? People can now travel abroad without going to other regions...The airport is not the best, but it is better than none. I also noticed that other Nigerians especially the Yorubas are always sad when any project is approved for the SE, Why is this so?

NE is not neglected because the federal government and UN and other NGOs are sending assistance in money and infrastructure for rebuilding. After the civil war,the southeast rebuilt its self without much federal help. The NC is capture in the budget very well.the southeast has the least budgetary allocation. With all these it is clear that a script is being followed.

Ndiigbo supported GEJ, So? Didn't we also support OBJ for 8 years and Yaradua for 2year plus? Why must our support for GEJ be isolated and used against us?

How many projects did OBJ and Yaradua site in SE, didn't we support them with our votes like we did for GEJ?

I am an igbo man but I hate the kind of politics our people are playing. Politics is based on priority and not sentiment. We adopted Jonathan as our son and gave him support more than his people. And we got nothing. He lost an election and we still refuse to move on with our life. Crying more than the bereaved. This is not politics.
Now to your topic, I believe IPP is good. In the south west, the best maintained road networks in Lagos are under IPP. Ikoyi-Lekki by-pass and Lekki/Epe express way with tolls on these two roads. Though these roads were done under the state government. They know the importance and went for it. These two roads are probable the only roads in the present day Nigeria with toll gates.

OP, why complaining now? The second niger bridge was awarded by GEJ on a PPP basis and to be tolled for years and you guys were hailing him, Enugu - Onitsha express was not even touched and you're not grateful the present government is trying to do something about it. Did you even mention enugu airport, a so called international airport that its runway is always flooded whenever it rains, an airport where save for Ethiopian airlines lands, no other international airline lands there. Nigerians complained about that same airport Stella renovated but you guys came out on all cylinders shielding her as 'our daughter our sister'. When PMB was elected, that was the first thing Ohaneze took to the president. Go siddon abeg

1)If only you drop your prejudice and probably hatred for Southeast and read Op again, then your comment will certainly reflect human sense...

2)2nd Niger bridge has been in offing and used for political campaigns unending...hence the people were happy to see a Jonathan who took some realistic steps towards its fruition...So why won't they eulogize him? And to show how desperate they were and how important this project is to them, they were willing to even pay through PPP to have this project...Why blame them here if not for your hatred reasons?

3)Some parts of Enough/Onitsha expressway has been done before this administration came in...but seeing their lackadaisical attitude towards Southeast and how important this road project is to southeast and their economy...they took initiative...Buhari NEVER did but Southeast leaders(Obiano) did and got Chinese to do same while pleading FG to approve since ownership is FG's...

4)Enugu Airport is ONGOING and has not ended... It's funding was structured in same manner Jonathan did Abuja/Kaduna railway...So why cry about flooding when the project isn't ended...btw flooding picture was sometime last two years(2014) or so...And why won't Southeast celebrate Jonathan when NO PAST administration in Nigeria accepted to give them International Airport except Jonathan?

5) International airlines don't just fly in...FG has to grant them access to a particular airport before they can use it...How many airlines did Buhari grant access to Enugu Airport

6)Stop being a sadist and a hypocrite...God bless us all!!!

You people were stupidly supporting Jonathan. Five of Jonathan presidency, he can't repair the Enugu-Onitsha road.
To the best of my understanding I think the Igbos (no insult attached) does not know how to align and re-align in the Nigeria type of politics. If you look at the last election, the Igbos blindly followed the erstwhile President GEJ. However the west were divided between PMB and GEJ, on the basis that anyone that emerges victorious would be in favour of their zone.
Many Government still fear the agitation for the resurrection of the defunct Republic of Biafra. They believed that if they should really develop that area, the breaking up may favour them.
Let us the political leaders in the area. What are they doing with their constituency projects allowance. What have Ekweremadu, Oduah, Okonjo-Iweala and others done for the region while in government.
Also the "unfriendliness" of MOST (not all) Igbos is another factor.
The "Lord it over" attitude of the Ibos are making hard for people to trust them.
Yorubas will always have Federal presence because the relied on their proverb that says "Maja masa la ma akinkaju, akinjaju to mo ja ti ko mo sa, lo ba ogun lo" meaning a warrior is known by his abilities to know the time to launch or retreat from an attack. Warriors that do not know are always defeated.
Igbos should when and how to play Nigeria politics.
However this the time for bridal west to shine.

Our so called leaders are the ones to blame,No of them wants to be remembered of one particular change in SE. They are only after their pockets.Arthur Eze was living in aso rock during GEJ administration for his personal business gain.He fly private jet up and down, even lands in Enugu Airport where he is building a hotel just at the airport. He lands in Enugu and Drives along through Enugu- Onitsha express way,yet it never cross his mind to say to GEJ relieve my people of this suffering.

It's sickening and pathetic how the Yorubas and their cotravellers use their endless lies and propaganda to keep hyping on Igbos voting GEJ.

Going down memory lane Yorubas and Hausa-Fulanis have proven to have voted along tribal lines. Igbos built ties, formed alliances and voted for Northerners and Yorubas to enable them get the presidency even at the expense of Igbo candidates. That's an indisputable fact!

Hausa-Fulanis and Yorubas shouldn't expect Igbos and Easterners to deludedly Kowtow to their whims and caprices and follow sheepishly in voting in whatever candidate they present.

Yorubas should cease making a mockery of themselves in the public just because they are too bitter many Igbos seek a separate existence from them.

Don't ever blame the numberless igbo leader. If must know, igbo is paying the price for being a stubborn slave... ojukwu declared biafra instead of Eastern Nigeria... that's an insult to the British. ..so there is an agreement to cage and suppress the igbo for daring to free themselves from the British Nigeria...the British, hausa/fulani, and yoruba had an agreement during the Civil war to suppress anything igbo

1) You maybe Igbo but not informed bro...

2)Who said Igbo didn't move on after election? Read dailies and see who were lamenting immediately after election and insulting them for their choice?...Did they react or reciprocate the insults then?... internet remembers bro...Isn't Igbo among the first to congratulate Buhari after winning? cf Obiano and co? how else did you expect them to move on?

3)What kind of provocation do you need when your president for no reason qualifies you as minority(5%) in your own country? did Igbo attack him before he made that comment? was their any precedence?

4)Is there anything happening under Buhari like Biafra that didn't happen under Jonathan? Didn't Biafra Zionist seize government House under Jonathan?...Was radio Biafra inaugurated in 2015? Buhari crisis management and leadership style made them popular...

5)Why is the tribe(SW) blackmailing you for your choice in election wasn't blackmailed when there choice (Falae) lost in 1999? Why has NOBODY crucified them for voting ONLY their tribe since INDEPENDENCE...Why has FG not treated them unfairly for voting against them?... Nobody should be apologetic for their choice during elections...and leaders who don't understand this singular fact aren't supposed to lead at all...

6)What is wrong in adopting Jonathan as our own when he did stuffs other leaders considered as taboo for Igbo? (Enugu International Airport, COAS for Igbo, etc) ...Isn't politics about INTEREST anymore? so why crucify me because I am my own man?...Weren't SW crying marginalization under Jonathan for losing Speakership for a fault of their own?...Did anybody blackmail them daily for that choice?...

7)Op is discussing about the injustice of using different measuring cylinder for different regions in Nigeria and you are talking about Lagos state internal affairs? how are they related? Why is FG using different parameters for same citizens in same circumstance

2)Igbo is the ONLY tribe that DOESN'T vote along ETHNIC lines since INDEPENDENCE...and Yoruba mostly feel it is their right to determine and blackmail Igbo for their choice always...

3)Who punished Yoruba for voting Falae instead of Obj in 1999 and voting Obj for reelection against buhari when he achieved NOTHING to deserve 2nd term in 2003?...so why punish Igbo for their choice?

I want to seek public opinion, on why major federal government projects in SE are by public private partnership while those of other regions are done all by the federal government. For example, in SW, Lagos third Mainland bridge was constructed and repaired by the federal government, Lagos- Ibadan express road is being handled by the federal government with a N50billion budget, Oyo-Ibadan road is undergoing repairs, in the north, the Ilorin-Jebba road is undergoing repair, as well as Kaduna to Maiduguri road...and other road and bridge projects...

In SE, the 2nd Onitsha bridge is being expanded under PPP, and the terrible Enugu-Onitsha roads is being considered to be repaired under PPP with a Chinese firm...

Mind you this type of depravity was not corrected under by GEJ either...and also note that these has nothing to do with leaders of SE, as I'm referring the federal projects and not state issues...

The questions are:

1. Is SE Nigeria not part of Nigeria?

2. Why do successive goverment treat the SE like a leper colony?

3. Is there a hidden/secret document given to any Nigeria president, not to touch the SE territory?

4. Does the secret document, say that the SE and affected Igbo people from parts of Rivers, Delta, Benue, Cross River will merge and form a new nation, so no need to develop the SE like other regions...Or if the government must assist, the SE people most pay part of the projects?

5. An exception seems to be the Enugu AIA airport built by GEJ and Stella Oduah... but people have seen how GEJ and Stella have become some of the most hated Nigerians...for giving the SE international airport (though work in progress)

6. Would people still accuse the youths of the Nigeria for migrating to other zones or for wanting their own nation state?

Please no insults...Can we put our minds to these...as what is happening is not coincidence...
@Op
What you have observed is a fact and it's a sad development. However, something which can never be wished away is the influence and inputs of SE leaders and representatives in Abuja; for these sort of things to happen over and over again from regime to regime, it means there is something SE leaders/representatives are not doing right when they get to Abuja.

Nigeria is a jungle and every tribe has leaders in Abuja scrambling for what they can scratch out for their people, it's always been a winner-takes-all battle and no one is ever gracious enough to watch out for the other tribes. So the point is, if minority tribes and regions lament insufficient representation in ABJ, can the SE also lament the same?... In the last 17 years of democracy, we've had OBJ 8yrs, yaradua 3yrs, GEJ 5yrs and Buhari 1yrs; even if we are to say Yaradua and Buhari (4yrs combined) are Hausa-Fulani who despise Igbos, can we also say the same of OBJ and GEJ (13yrs) and can we say OBJ and GEJ were unapproachable by SE leaders/representatives in ABJ?

When the story of the 2nd Niger bridge broke in 2014 and it was being proposed as PPP, I remember some of us on this forum raised our voices wondering why the longer Lokoja-Oweto bridge would be built by the FG for free, but Igbos were being forced to pay for the 2nd Niger bridge. I remember being shouted down by compatriots on this forum as being a GEJ hater and an Igboland progress hater (a particularly absurd allegation), but the fact remains that, that was a beautiful opportunity for this anomaly to be fought and corrected by SE leaders seeing that GEJ was very close to the SE and he desperately needed 101% SE support in 2015. But I still cant understand why none of our leaders thought of using the golden moment to whisper reasoning into GEJ's ears.

Now if this anomaly couldn't be corrected under OBJ and then GEJ, I wonder what will be the case under bubu.

Should it be so..should a nation be a jungle? A normal country with conscience should see that all projects in regions are shared appropriately. There should be no need for leaders to be fighting themselves in Aso rock begging the president. I still don't blame SE leaders for this. There is generally, a script being played by Nigeria state against SE region...and it is a shame...

I totally align myself with op on this issue. If the east west road,Lagos Ibadan expressway, Benin to Abuja express way which are all longer than the Enugu onitsha Can be built without tolling,i don't see any reason why the Enugu to Onitsha express road should be tolled by the FG.

Unfortunately, it is what it is, a jungle. Nigeria is a jungle, Africa is a jungle, there's a reason why it's still called the third world, and it's unrealistic to compare it with thw developed world.

Now that notwithstanding, even in developed nations the same scenario plays out. Have you ever asked yourself why every little unit of the nation has a representative at the centre?... It is exactly for reasons like this that each hamlet has a representative at the capital even in developed nations.

Regarding your conviction about this being just a gang up by probably other big tribes against the SE or to 'bully the SE', as much as I find this a rather belittling and condescending theory, you may be right, millions of south easterners also harbour this conviction and have strongly held on to it since 1970 to date (46 years), but I'm at a doubt whether holding on to this age long theory (whether true or not) has really helped anyone. I'm also at a loss at how this same trend also continued unabated even under GEJ.

Before you come up with stuffs like these, You must get your facts right.

*The 4th Mainland bridge is a PPP
*Jonathan and Stella did not build Enugu airport, they only upgraded it.

Jonathan who never asked you to provide PPP did not build the second Niger bridge either so I really dont know which you prefer, to have no bridge or one under PPP?

From a Political point of view, B!afran Agitation has very serious political consequence if you care about the South East, you must call your short sighted brothers to order.

look around you, the whole agitation in some regions are targeted at FG investments in those regions, haven't you noticed? Since the madness started, have you heard any of those agitators proposing to the FG how much they will pay for those investments?

Oil does not jump out from the ground, it takes very serious investment to make it happen so when you carve Rivers state into your s!lly Biafran map, the FG already knows that you guys are targeting Soku gas plant and nothing more, if that assumption is right, why do you think the FG will be more willing to invest in the same region that threatens its sovereignty, does it make any sense?

Ask yourself where does the FG get money to invest in most regions? the same Federation account that all the states collect their share monthly so the question remains; why does the states not invest in their regions? let me quickly give you an example.

When the FG balkanized the power sector, almost all the states bought stakes in their regions, Lagos state bought stakes into EKO and Ikeja discos and some Gencos they previously own, guess what, while Ngige was sitting like Tozo in the senate chambers as deputy chairman senate committee on power, the South east had no Genco except for a small plant in Abia state, the Disco of 5 states was given to one man to own with zero input from the states. Why am I saying this.

Over the years, the South east government and its people have not invested enough in that region.
Instead of painting the PPP arrangement in a bad light, on the flip side, I think it is a blessing in disguise for the SE people.
Start a campaign that the counterpart funding in the PPP must be provided by a SE conglomerate or even the State goverment, that way, the ownership of Assets will lie in the hands of the SE people.
In the future we won't hear that Tinubu owns all the SE assets.

Whynotthetruth:

Allow reasoning to prevail not hatred and prejudice...

Ekweremmadu altercation with Obj on Enugu International Airport isn't a secret...for which Obj told him that he was just playing politics when he promised to build same during campaigns...

Other interventions and pressure from Southeast leaders even on Buhari for same airport and similar projects isn't hidden either...FG reluctance especially under buhari made them to take their fate in their hands as seen in Enugu/Onitsha expressway Which they took PPP initiative and is pleading with buhari to ONLY approve... NOTHING MORE...btw part of this road is already done under past administration of Jonathan...

Jonathan is so loved by them because he did some projects which were hitherto forbidden for them...

And why is Jonathan love by southeast singled out ?... Didn't they also vote Obj as against Ojukwu? Even Yar'adua? ...
Jonathan is hated more by you all not solely because of performance issues in governance but his temerity to show "love" to your enemy;Igbo race...

Brother i agree with you fully. Jonathan was hated mostly by hard core conservative Yoruba, Hausa / Fulani and some foolish northern minority tribes. I say foolish northern minority because these tribes have witnessed the naked wickedness of the Hausa / Fulani but will still vote for them in any election due to religious affinity. They have accepted their fate as sacrificial lambs. Jonathan's fair disposition towards the South East which no Nigeria president has ever done in the past was his biggest issue with his detractors and the South East voting massively for him was a well deserved reward. Even if the South East voted massively for Buhari they will still be ignored.

Maybe because, private companies are ready to invest their money in the SE .

PPPs are the way foward in today's modern world of governance .

What you should ask is why are there no PPPs in the north and southwest (apart from the few crooked deals in Lagos).

If anything the SE can hold their head up in future and lay claim to any tangible project in their region not from govt patronage but rather from their own pocket since eventually the monies invested in these projects will eventually be paid directly by the people of the SE .

I have thought about this too, this is not fair at all. I blame our senators and house of reps.
While others are defending their regions our people are busy fighting over personal appointments.
That is to show that they are there for their own personal pockets. PDP started it, now APC is doing same.

The Igbos will hold their head up high in the nearest future when these projects come up stream knowing that the project did not come out from the federal purse but from their patronage.

Have you asked why no private firm is ready to collaborate with both state and federal govt in investing in critical infrastructure in the north and southwest?

The answer is simply because they don't see how they can recoup their investments but rather the case of the Niger Bridge alone should tell you that whoever is currently involved in the project believes they can recoup their money and that should tell you that they see your region as the most viable economically.
