Your God and mine hears you in Igbo,Hausa,Yoruba,Efik, and Ibibio unlike Allah who only understands Arabic of a particular dialect too and you must speak it while facing a particular direction after performing some ritualistic washings and all whatnot.

It time people should reason first b4 jst opening a lame thread,
If ever the OP of this thread is literate he will understand that you dont need to learn Dutch b4 your could understand a law or theory propounded by a dutch in dutch language.
There are many laws and theories from other languages but translated to english and the still stand in existence till today. Will you doubt the reality of those theories becoz it was not in the original launguage? Or will you learn the initial language jst to have believe or have the full understanding of it.

Only muslims want to force the whole world to believe in mohammed and koran or we all die in the hands of suicide bombers. Bible gave us that freedom choice. You can chose to believe in it and you can chose not to, so why you guys give yourselves all these headaches abt the origin or reality of the bible. Let those who believe in it be and those who does believe can believe whatever. Who care even God himself does not care, coz your believe does not change whom he is. He remains God either you believe in him or not and his word still remain his word either you believe it or not it will never change a word from it.

Maybe Allah or mo hammed is a stereotyped being who understands only one language, Arabic.
But my own God understands every languages even the so called Arabic.
How could he who made human to speak in different languages not understand them?

without even reading the bible, you will know what is right and what will take you to heaven. even as many claim heaven does not exist. but you will eventually end up somewhere. everybody knows that stealing, lying, adultery, fighting, etc are bad. so why dont keep to it. use your given head people.

Hello Friends,

Why don't we discuss in a productive manner. Because we don't know or see one another does not give any of us the audacity to talk without empathy. We should lear to be courteous in our manner of interaction esp when it comes to sensitive issues like faith.

However, on a personal note, i beleive learning the original language of any message gives one a better understanding of the intent of the sender and a better appreciation of the message. In Nigeria that i know of, both Christains and Muslims fall short of this. The Christains use translated version for which the possible intended meaning of the sender could have been altered. Likewise, most Muslims only learn to read the original language of their Book with learning, knowing and understanding its meaning.

Finally, the most important, whether we read the original or translated is to strive to implement the good teachings of our Books.

Allah help us all.

Isnt it obvious to both sides of this argument that noone ever 'wins' religious debate!!! Each side will squeeze out 'empirical' justifications for their own religion, when the truth is no-one will ever know the truth about stuff that was concocted years ago and which obviously is not as perfect and divine as our pastors and clerics want us to believe. But then again, it's always intriguing to watch the endless back and forth even though it can be boring at times. GUYS GET A LIFE!!!

I think what the poster is trying to say is Learning the original language of the bible and getting a copy of the original would really help understand the religion instead of the already edited or translated one. I kind of see a point in that because some translations really changes contest for example:
Eku ijoko in yoruba can be well done for sitting dow[/b]n, some would say is simply means [b]hello or some would say it means greetings for sitting down,
same if you would say tsanu da zuwa in hausa it could mean sorry for coming or welcome , the poster does have a point o.
Point of correction, hebrew is not the original language of the bible its 'Aramic'. Watch the movie passion of christ, thats the language spoken in there, Jesus's mother tongue is also Aramic!
You guys should also learn to argue by given points, instead of making fun of your selves and which ever religion , If you dont have answers to question then just say it, simple,

Abudu, simple,d purpose of your arabic school is mainly to be able to cram and recite d quran,does it give u better undastanding What do u av to say abt d 1st post on this page and this goes to shawn 123 what correlation is there btw religion and colour,colour and system,baptism and colour,baptism and system etc yet they were translated from same arabic quran so, u ve got no point there. An authentic yoruba man knows that ''eku ijoko'' is just a courtesy greeting and those explanation u gave is just 4 a non yoruba to grab it's basic meaning whether it is translated as 'well done 4 sitting down' , 'hello' and 'greeting 4 sitting down' d interpreted msg whc is greeting is clear. So,shawn why shuld i learn hebrew just to undastand d bible when some pple had taken d liberty to do it and translate to english? Most scientific discovery were not made in english but was translated and we got to know abt them and i dont need to study their language to undastand. smiley

Do you know that the mother tongue of Jesus (Aramaic) i bet you dont know what God is in Jesus's mother tongue, funny its E'llah pronounced eillah as also Allah in arabic also in Jewish Eloah, so if you are a christian i dont suggest you make fun of the word Allah, But then you might not know, first of all google the language of Jesus then Google what God means is in that language, Am not here to argue really just to separate facts for false though,

@Timmy 7 : word you have there but its a well known fact that words translated to from one language to the other always leads to different contest and also different people and dialects have different ways of reading meanings to it. Also just like you said only the non yorubas would be confused or translate it the way i just did, hmmm only the non yorubas? Do you know that the bible was translated from Aramaic to English by a German? LOL, you are on the internet so maybe you could do a search on it as well , correct me if am wrong though?

About the original contest thingy, i give credits to the muslims really because the scripts are never edited meanings are never changed and it remains original just like the Islamic date, constantine invented the 12 hr time and days of the week plus months right?
