Former Head of State, Major General Mohammed Buhari (rtd), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other leaders of the opposition parties pushing for political reform will tomorrow appear before the Committee on the review of the 1999 constitution in Abuja to present a joint memorandum at the public hearing organised by the committee
The leaders, under the aegis of Mega Summit Movement (MSM) had resolved to attend the public hearing organised by the Senate to advance their current campaign for a popular political reform in the country.
The committee is organising a three-day public hearing on the review of the 1999 constitution. The leaders who are proposing the formation of a Mega party had earlier contacted the committee in Kaduna last weekend on their intention to present a joint memorandum at the hearing.
A statement issued yesterday by the MSM Director of publicity, Alhaji San Turaki, said the Mega Summit delegation will include Atiku, former Secretary to the Federal Government, Chief Olu Falae, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, Dr Tunji Braiwaite, Former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Atahiru Bafarawa, former Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande

According to Turaki, the National Summit on the future of Democracy, postponed recently to allow more consultations, has now been rescheduled to hold from Monday, 23 to Tuesday, 24 November, 2009 in Abuja.
The leaders are expected to canvass the inclusive process of reform as it relates to chapter 9 of the constitution, democratic composition of INEC and independent appointment of INEC Chairman, transparent voting system, proportional representation, true federal system, justifiability of Chapters 2 and 4 of the 1999 constitution, among others, at the hearing.
