The Eagles won the match with two first half goals from Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Chipolopolo pulled one back in the 71st minute through Mbesuma.

Hard as the Zambians tried to get an equalizer, the Super Eagles stood firm to claim three precious away points.

After the match, the Nigerian team celebrated the victory inside their locker room.

[This is the first time in a long time, we employed a decent coach that was technically sound, see when he changed formation to choke d midfield and increase d defending players...then Ahmed musa did not start was another improvement...we did not need wasteful players that run around d field with little impact]

Playing for Nigeria is like fighting a woman as a man.if you beat her up, you are a woman beater, if she beats you up, you are a wimp. Any country can defeat another. There are no more minnows in football and to have won an away victory is a feat that should not be easily discounted.

The stars are aligned for us. No doubt, to have the easiest tie to start the campaign is an immense morale boost. Then followed by two successive home matches against Algeria and Cameroun should put us in touching distance of the ticketi if we win both and maintain top spot. The last two qualifies should have the team properly geled, the new coach familiar with the players and his tactics perfected having seen both teams in the safety of home. Without guts there is no glory. I want to see the new lads such as Nacho and Iwobi in Russia, playing on good pitches against great teams on the biggest stage because I know they have massive potentials. Goodluck to Nigeria. May the dark days of Nigerian football be over at last.

There is no disgrace in loosing a football match. Brazil lost 7-1 to Germany in a world cup hosted in their own backyard...that same Brazil can easily beat the Germans today given their day. We have won AFCONs and failed to qualify for AFCONs so it don't really matter. We support ouy boys and wish them the best they can achieve. The Zambians were a good side and Carl Ikeme's amazing performance confirms that.
