The opposite of faith is fear

The only way we can get faith is by the continuous hearing of the Word of God which is the incorruptible seed that germinates into eternal life and does exploits in the kingdom of God.  But the devil sows the seed of fear which makes us to doubt the word of God and eventually lead to unbelief that hardens our heart preventing the Word of God from mixing with faith in our hearts and this prevents us from entering into the rest that He promised Heb 4:1-12.

David was able to overcome Goliath by faith in the Word of God and in the name of the Lord while others were paralysed by fear.  1Sam.17:41-50  Joshua and Caleb by faith were able to bring the good news that they were more than able to conquer and possess the promise land as opposed to the remaining ten spies who due to fear saw the contrary Number 13:28-33; 14:1-4. 

Therefore, faith is seeing what God sees and acting on it, while fear is seeing the opposite of what we are supposed to see and acting on it.

"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."  Rev. 21:8

"perfect love casteth out fear:"   1 John 4:18;  1Jn.4:1-21; 5:1-21; 1 Cor. 13:4

However, it should be noted that Godly fear which means having a reverence for God is different from ungodly fear.  Ungodly fear means those who dread the judgment of God, whose love is not perfect,  this is the reason we should purify ourselves. 1 John 1:7; 3:1-10; 5:1-18

Therefore, receive forgiveness by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ and release your fears by receiving His Love into your hearts thereby, renewing your friendship and relationship with the Creator and ruler of the universe in the name of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ.  Doing this will bring you into the warmth of His Love, the radiance of His Purity, the righteousness of His Justice, the belief of His Truth and all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Faith can also be described as seeing what God sees and says about Himself in His Word and acting on it.

Love, Joy, Peace: These we receive when we are in fellowship with God.
Longsuffering, gentleness, goodness: We need these in our relationship with people.
Faith, Meekness and temperance (self control) are what we need for ourselves.

The whole Law is summarized into two and this is that we love God and love our neighbours as ourselves.  To do this we must be connected to God in relationship and daily communion, dwelling in His presence to be able to bring forth the fruit of the Spirit to maturity in our lives daily.

This thread is for bible quiz to test our knowledge of the scriptures and to give explanation to our answers.  I do not pretend to know all the answers but with God's grace we would try our best.

To answer your question I would by God's grace assess the situation prayerfully, if the friend, neighbour or colleague has a living relationship with the Lord, i.e. is he or she born again?  If the answer to this is no then I need to bring him/her to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ  2Cor.5:17; 1jn.2:29; 3:5-10; 5:1-4,18.

This could be done by the fruit of the Spirit manifested in our lives.  Christianity is the only lifestyle that produces the fruit of the Spirit which is mainly love.  Galatians 5:22-23;  1Cor.13:4-7; 1Jn3:1-18; 4:7-21; Rom.8:1-13  

Another fruit of the Spirit can be prayer.  Paul by inspiration tells us that our warfare is not against our neighbours, relatives or so called friends but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places.  We are required to be strong in the Lord and in the Power of His might by always putting on the whole armour of God and praying with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit Eph. 6:10-18; 2Cor.10:5-7; Col.2:6-10; 3:10-14;

The devil is our arch enemy and he always diverts our attention by instilling fear into us making us think that our fellow human beings are our enemies, even people may knowingly or unknowingly be used by the devil and his agents we are not to lose the fact that the devil and his demons are the ones pulling the strings.  The moment we begin to suspect, distrust and see humans as our enemies the devil would have deposited fear that will paralyse us from exercising faith and love that is necessary to disarming the devil because we cannot operate in fear but in faith.  That is why perfect love casts out fear 1Jn. 4:18

Jesus told us what to do to those who hate us and despitefully use us and this is to love, bless, pray and do good to them Matt.5:44; Rom. 12:17-21 

Therefore, Love them by praying for the salvation of their souls and bless them by giving to their needs if you are in the position to do it and this you can do when you abide in the vine to produce the fruit of the Spirit that will be light and salt to their lives Jn.15:4-5.
