Hello guys, NOTE: First, am quite disappointed that programming topics don't make front pages on Nairaland, rather when davido or wizkid buys a new bathroom slippers and uploads it on social platform is goes straight to front page. with all due respect Mr. Seun and the mods, please look into this and get at least 10% of sensible topics in the programming section to front page. Back to the topic on ground. OP Background: I am a programmer, and i work with a reputable firm in the Nigerian Insurance sector, i love programming with a strong passion and probably will fall sick if i don't code in months. I love my younger one's to avoid mistakes i made as a programmer, thats why i have created this platform. so stay tunned. Objectives: Common guys, this is 2016, what's the best way to learn programming if not solving real life problems? I have developed two apps used by some well known companies , for security reason i choose to remain anonymous (* Introvert has already stolen my fav moniker thats why i settled with Ezechinwa, lol). Here is what i hope to achieve. I want us to solve a real like project together, for the next 3 months, and how much does this cost? well it will cost $0.00 but probably a few data Kilo Byte of your data , NOTE: Because of Time frame and the nature of my job, we are only going to build a simple project using the following platforms, 1. Android 2. Json 3. Java 4. XML 5. ..... After completing our project, i will share some Database Normalization [1NF-3.5NF] tips, which will help us during the season two of my Real life project. Time: 9pm - 10:30pm Thursdays - Saturdays... Tutorial Also: From Sundays - Wednesdays.... I will respond to unanswered questions... Lets get a few comments to know the direction of our tour bus... Thanks |

Ezechinwa:Nice of you trying to make this section lively, but I don't think most topic on this section should be promoted to the frontpage. Because most people wont understand what we are talking about, I remember a post related to Python programming and it got to the frontpage, there were a lot of nonsense post on the post and it ruined everything A lot of people thought it was a snake post, but anyhow nice post. I tried posting Tutorial on this section but got involved with projects, even the moderator @Javanian still has time to moderate this section anymore Regards' Habeeb Salami 3 Likes 1 Share |

Tutorial One Good evening everyone, Welcome to our first tutorial on building real project from scratch, Today I will do some proper introduction and also make a few recommendation on the tools you need to completely understand this concept,] warning: although it isn't a must to practice with me as we move, but i urge you to get your laptop/desktop and run these codes because as a beginner, it helps in really understanding the basics and improves your coding skills. Aim A company xyz, need their client to gain access to their website/data from the comfort of their mobile device, and as your the only trusted programmer in the block, they asked you to help them build a mobile version of what they do.! \ You accepted the contract and stated your terms and conditions, and you were given 3 months to achieve this goal. They made your job easier by providing you with a Json API, from their back end. Services Provided by Company: Json Api Url: http://jsonparsing.parseapp.com/jsonData/moviesDemoItem.txt Primary Key: Non Company Objective: Company XYZ releases a list of ratings of latest movies. Stay tuned... |

StackOverflow ... Warning:Please endevour to get these materials, mentioned above, i wont be showing you how to install them, but am open to suggestions, You can reference some forums here on nairaland to get installation guides or ask me questions regarding your difficuilty . Thanks. Drills: All codes for this project will be uploaded here, and i just downloaded a pc screen grabber, which means, i will be uploading pictures of the codes here on Nairaland. The graphical design aspect of this project will be better understand using Videos rather than text/Pictures, therefore i will be uploading some video links here (If you have a better idea on how i can upload videos directly on Nairaland please educate me, thanks.) 5 min break... Okebarn: hello my friend, thanks for the compliments bro, now back to your question, you can only modify an existing app if you have the source code, if the case of Android apps it's difficult to get the source codes except provided by the developer, but for some web applications it's much easier (sometimes tho) , I will explain why this happens but first to get the source codes of web application you can open the URL from your browser and then right click to view source ( this shows the HTML codes used in building the page ) , although this doesn't work for some scripting languages like PHP etc. of course, I cannot leave without explaining why this happens? most apps like Android , Java etc are built using an IDE which compiles and build the app, after which the developer releases the apk, exe, etc file. unlike web applications that although can be built using an IDE, but the brower uses an interpreter to read the codes of the page. please stay tuned to the continuation of the tutorials, as I will upload more article tonight, also ensure to get your tools ready. thanks |

Ezechinwa: Tutorial 1.2... Hello guys, I had to create another account for this tutorial still a mystery to me why i was blocked from uploading contents on this thread. Back to business, so far i have introduced the basic tools required to complete this project, we are going to breakdown the problem given to us by Company xyz, Step one: Lets look at the Json Api url given to us by the company before we proceed, Json Api Url: http://jsonparsing.parseapp.com/jsonData/moviesDemoItem.txt Now, do me favour, click on the link above and lets see what we get? Good, this is a simple Json output, we are going to briefly understand what Json really is and how we can understand this syntax in just 15 mins... Step 2: Loading...
