As a young banker who had a car loan limit of N800,000 back in year 2009, I wanted more than a Toyota Camry Pencil light. I got additional loan from my elder brother; became the owner of a car I would love for only 7months.

It was an excellent ride from day one. However, the beauty that was in the eyes of the beholder faded sharp sharp when the problems started to trickle in. The first was the power steering problem, then the car started jerking, fuel pump went bad, the suspensions and shock absorbers went bad again after changing them like 2 months earlier... OMG!

After spending most of my life savings on the car, I realised my mechanic was also a problem. So, I went to cry at Alliance Autos in Victoria Island as they were the only Nissan dealership I knew. Luckily, they referred me to an affordable Nissan specialist around Gbagada.

Eventually, the Prodigal Car/Agbanó was up and running withing 3 days. To prevent further spending, I cut my losses, sold the car for N650k and ported to Toyota Camry Big Daddy.

Moral of the story: Do a research on what it takes to maintain that car before you pay for it.

1999 Honda Accord. Got it in 2008 and still being used by wifey. I've done an average journey of 600km weekly for about 1yr 9mths (zaria-shinkafi-zaria). Car has served me well as I've lived in Kaduna, zamfara, Daura, Yola and Maiduguri with it. I even drove it this morning and it feels the same save for some noise in the wheels I suspect worn out bearings. My experience with it.... Thanksgiving.

Mine was back in SS3, some mechanics close to my school sold a Honda accord to me.I didn't know the car was trouble, I drove it to a supermarket on my way home to buy some drinks to use and celebrate with my friends and siblings. just for me to come out of the supermarket the car was on fire with lot of people trying to put the fire off. then 5 policemen were asking "Who get this car? I say who get this car" obviously I was so scared that I couldn't say it's mine. I just quietly took okada home regretting why I just wasted my N35,000.

Mine was a 2001 Honda Accord (babyboy) manual gear bought in 2011.

The day before, a car splashed water on me on Allen avenue and it the danfo bus on my way back at the end of the day, I spotted the car.

Next day, I bought the car and it was a wonderful experience. It wasn't as fast as the BMW 5 series I had access to in school but the joys of rowing through gears trying not to drop revs was epic.

It was roomy , durable and looked better than the other option I had (pencil light).

A mechanic that was supposed to do the simple job of installation a new battery placed the terminals wrongly and it fried things in the car.

From that moment, it was one electrical problem to the other........ till another mech tried fixing it and smoke started coming out from underneath the dashboard.

It took weeks to rectify all the damage done to its electricals but eventually, I got it sorted..... phew.

I later crashed it in traffic while being careless(After driving it for 2yrs)..... I got home and put it up for sale. The next day, some Hausa guys from Borno came and paid for it immediately....... I spent the money and became a pedestrian again till I bought my current car.

My 1st love was Mercedes 190E. I still miss her ruggedness. I almost shade tears d day I sold her.

Just got ma first car this year. Toyota Venza, and its a gift to me after my youth service. Its still working perfectly and in good condition.. Still learning how to drive though. buh gettin perfect by the day...

Back in the day, I had my first baby, a Honda accord 94 "Honda hala". It served me well though I had like three numbers of mechanics in my phone.

Now, if not a new car, I'm not driving. Even a 2015 car won't find its way into my garage now. God is faithful.

Lexus ES 300 2003,very nice car,just do the normal maintenance and you are good to go.

Toyota Avalon 05. Got it last year. Still using it

2008, i went and got myself an Opel Calibra, sporty feeling, i got it from one crooked mechanic for N150K, didn't drive it for a month cos it has too many issues..parked it for almost a year, they don't have parts for it, left it and opted for one 2004 Fiat Stilo( picture attached) another sporty model from the Italian car makers FIAT.. abarth transmission, in the right hands, it can race a range rover and win.. I was the only one in my area with a yellow car then, I call it chick magnet .. I had to let it go when it started developing engine problems and a replacement engine cant be sourced locally. I asked 500k for it, I got 350k. then 2010/11 I got my first 04 Toyota Corolla.. (picture attached) that's it when I went to get it at the dealers park, since then i've never looked back.. am on my 10th car nw.. 08 Toyota Avalon ( which i bought through a guy on Nairaland last year Jan.. currently sittin in a mechanic workshop in Bode Thomas) electrical problems.

You guys are mentioning big big cars as 1st car na wa ooo, Mine na SEAT Toledo, so ruggged like Golf 3, in fact it uses same engine as Golf 3. We rock life together, traveled to different part of Nigeria in it, had accident twice in 7 days come catch fire after 4 years. No matter what will happen to my Toledo will happen near a mechanic, it was nicknamed "CONTAINER".

Legedis benz, it has been my ride ever since I was one year old, ill never stop using it.

Mine was VW Golf 3 GTI (2.0L 16V). Was driven from sokoto to lagos 18hr none stop.
Thereafter, use it for two years, Had to let it go cause i have a bad mech. who use the car for experiment. Got to a point i was helping him to fix my car. I really missed that car cause it fast in accelerating. and has good fuel economy.
Current using 2006 VW Jett 2.0 TFSI.
