Obi Of Owa Backs Military Action In Niger-delta by ezeagu(m): 7:08pm On Nov 05, 2009 |
Thursday, 06.04.2009 A prominent monarch in the Niger Delta, the Obi of Owa, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor II, has given his support to the military action against the Niger Delta militants by the Federal Government. The monarch said that the militant groups of the oil-rich region had derailed in their actions and described them as nothing but a group of criminals who continually bring the reign of terror on the people of the area. Speaking with THISDAY in Maiduguri where he led a group of traditional rulers from Delta State to the installation of the new Shehu of Bornu, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, the Obi of Owa said that the so-called militants are law breakers and deserved to be punished for their crimes. "The Federal Government is doing the right thing in trying to bring it (crime) down because anybody who perpetrate any act that breaks the law should be brought to book," he said. "What these so-called militants are doing, by breaking the law, is bad and we have to appeal to these youths to realise that you cannot break the law and go scot-free.” The monarch said the militants were opened to so many windows to air the views and protest against the perceived injustice in a democracy instead of picking arms against the nation. He stressed that “it is not good to terrorise the people in a democratic setting in the name of militancy, saying "If anything is wrong about their communities, they can go to court or call the appropriate authorities to listen to them rather than taking the law into their hands.” He advised the new Shehu to follow the example of his predecessor, noting that “the late Shehu was liked by everybody and everybody mourned his death.” He urged the new Shehu to further the cause of human development so that the people could have the necessity of life. [One day the new Shehu will do you waka] "He should also make friends and build bridges with other traditional rulers by visiting other states when occasion demand," he said. " It is a major way of building frontier of brotherhood and statesmanship.” http://www.ikaworld.com/index.php?mod=article&cat=PublicNews&article=489 The guy should leave Owa, move to the north and become the Obi of Kaduna if he loves the North so much. Anyway I'll leave the judging to his ancestors and the Ófó he probably swore on in the promise that he protects his people on becoming the Obi of Owa. . . . . . . that's if all that Jazz (lit.) is true. |

Re: Obi Of Owa Backs Military Action In Niger-delta by ono(m): 12:53pm On Nov 06, 2009 |
I don't blame them too much. Na military rule cause am. Asaba, an enclave, a village and its environs - including this loudmouth Obi's territory of Owa, would never have witnessed such growth they're witnessing today were it not for IBB's twist and turns. His marriage to one of them - Miriam contributed to their making Asaba Delta State capital. Na person wey don chop bele full na im dey yarn dust. This Obi forgot that its the proceeds from these boys actions that's fetching some money into his domain and pockets - a case of biting the finger that feeds him. No worries, very soon the wheat will be separated from the chaff, then we will know who's right or wrong. |

Those of you lashing out at the monarch over his words of wisdom, wait until a relative of yours gets consumed in an exchange between government troops and the militants. Only then will it dawn on you that those lads (militants) are bringing more pain than gain to the region |

MeAgain: They will always be treated and be seen as Igbo, so it doesn't matter anyway. Anybody can say that they're not Igbo, but just remember the Asaba massacre when you say that. |

That obi is not a true son of the Niger delta,he does not mean well for the Niger delta people. The person that crowned him obi made the biggest mistake of ihis life. |

Re: Obi Of Owa Backs Military Action In Niger-delta by redsun(m): 10:18pm On Nov 06, 2009 |
I know that guy into-to,he is a bit of every thing, good, bad, ugly, ball player, authoritative, kind, mean, crude, civilize, every thing put together,he is typical nigerian, but not totally in a foolish way. In as much as what he said is seen as sensitive but deep down, the militants seems to be as greedy, visionless, purposeless, selfish and as child like as the people they are fighting. The problem of nigeria is concept, people don't seem to understand the fundamental meanings of life.It is not something to fight for,but something to live out for the good and comfort of all.You don't fight for what belongs to you,we have enough to go round but what we lack is common sense, good old intelligence. |
Re: Obi Of Owa Backs Military Action In Niger-delta by redsun(m): 10:21pm On Nov 06, 2009 |
Just think of how much ibori and he has not been taken care of by the militants yet,he is still a free man and he probably lives in delta, yet they are fighting for the rights of all.Who is fooling who? |
