This write up lends credence to the saying a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. One hovers at the sidelines watching the activities on NL,silently applauding the pearls of wisdom that is dropped by the most enlightened of its members and despairing at the inanities of some that I can only call the attack dogs of the factions of ignorance and the poverty of thought.Ironically, one of the problems of Nigeria is mirrored in this dilemma, how to reconcile two diametrically opposed sides for the greater good. The problems of Nigeria have been catalogued a million times, its anatomy laid bare in the press, pepper soup joints, satrirized even in flicks like District 9 and there are two million feasible solutions that have been bandied about but this change that everybody is pining for will not just come into being,it has to be engineered. The Nigeria where everything works is not a pipe dream but if by some miraculous alchemy the people who have run Nigeria to ground disappear into the ether, who will man the tram lines in Abuja, the databases for social security, taxes, the train lines, the power plants, the urban regeneration bids, the technical schools, build the ships, teach, form the police force,e.t.c and thats a very long etc. There has to be a plan in place to immediately introduce the personnel in place that will trigger the quantum leap into the millenium that everybody is so desperate for. You have two choices, you can wait for the elections, canvass for votes for a person who will actualize your visions or you can transform your social, mental and infrastructural landscape in a way that is so, (words fail to describe at this point), amazing that everything literally changes overnight. One must immediately point out out one problem and this analogy has titillated no end ever since it was introduced to our little collective. Nigeria can literally call upon a nuclear scientist or two or three to design a power plant for electricy supply but this bid will need the kind of political and social will that is dependent on the people recognizing this as an absolute necessity. To be cotinued. |

Continued. How do you describe nuclear fission to the 'mechanics, vulcanizers and shoemakers'(apologies to Michael Stevens)the plans and reforms needed for Nigeria are so technically advanced and mired in cutting edge socio-economic wizardry that your sales pitch, invariably delivered in English will be faced with the blank eyed stares of Mama and Papa Bleep from Abakaliki. The science whizz, the business moguls, the engineering maestros do not have the time or the patience to dumb down their talk(and they shouldnt)so this is ware Nairaland morphs from a forum where people just talk, talk and talk to doing a little more.Everybody knows a guy who knows a guy who has a cousin who knows a guy.Cool.We literally need tens, hundreds, thousands of gents/ladies who can translate to the people, the people who can literally be 'all things to all people' speak Waffi to those of that bent.Rarefied pidgin that doesnt sound contrived.Optimally working in teams of twos, your job will literally be talking to the people, disseminating information, ideals and a road map to the promised land. You will not be alone but have the combined intellectual power of the legions of Bsc's and PHd's from Nigerians around the world behind you.All you have to do is speak. One scenario:Ladies and gentlemen:We envisage a situation where the people of x and y state will and should be entitled to social security payments at regular intervals for x reasons, however we need to have a mini census of people in the area to go on the database and therefore we will be inviting you to x place where you will be attended to in alphabetical order for x amount of weeks where your data shall be processed.Sounds simple but the database programmer from Winsconsin of Nigerian origin who donates his time |

should give it up,its this.Perspectives change when you have a family. One reckons the average age grade of people on NL between 15-25 hence the emphasis so often on issues and points of view that are at best irrelevant.Adulthood is mostly about making the best decsions for ones family, one can forego supposed luxuries for oneself but it is a inherent human instinct to desire the best for ones progeny, yes we can spirit them abroad but they are 'black' people abroad and the inability of the largest black nation on earth to act as the poster child for all that is glorious and possible with the black race is that itch that just wont go way even if you are a succesful cardio thoracic surgeon in Beverly Hills, you see and hear some things directed to you and yours that make you grit your teeth so this bid is necessary to give our children a sense of self, pride and a fighting chance in life.It cant and shouldnt be about you.The answer to this question after meditation will ultimately reveal to yourself what kind of person you are.Ireedemably self centred alien or a warm blooded true to life human being. So having said all that,a government is comprised of so many departments or ministries. One needs people experts, professionas or even marginally interested in the following areas-Agriculture,Architects and Builders,Teachers-any discipline,Programmers-all of them.Students-all of them.Engineers-Electrical,Mechanical,Chemical.Public relations,Lawyers-All.Farmers.Entrepreneurs.We operate by the Chinese proverb-No one is useless.Practically everybody has some unique insight or thing to offer by virtue of knowledge, location, ability, desire, familial position. One repeats:There is no useless person. One is not going to reinvent the wheel here |

Neither are we going to engage in those perennial debates that go on on NL with no end in sight and no practical solution,we shall simply first marshall the troops and organize the ranks.Tell what is needed to fix a problem and after the experts have thrashed it out, turn it into a policy and execute it in the not so distant future. And yes,do be sure to recommend people that you feel would be able to take public office, even if they wouldnt want to at first, recommend that brother, sister, neighbour, freind, uncle that will be vetted and deemed worthy.Whether he is 18-80.18?yes, dare to dream! The issues plaguing Nigeria are well documented.Choose an area of interest even if it is intellectual property in relation to Alaba.Email aimecsr@gmail.com and tell us what you can do and where you are located.Programmers and web developers do get in touch soon as a matter of particular urgency, your strategic imput is quite important at this stage of proceedings and yes there is a clock ticking,we need to have 90% of our obejectives in place and all machinery running before the next general elections in Nigeria. Thank you Aime. |

ps:This is an equal opportunity bid.Women and youth are equally empowered to make their input. Please note comment is at your discretion but this will not be a debate, this thread should not be derailed by pointless insults and abuses(the bane of NL today). There, thats it.It's taking a year to write this and maybe now God will allow some of us get some sleep,My part Aime Cesaire in all this is almost done.So help me God.Have a great weekend everybody and do drop us an email. |
