Silly excuse, are you protecting companies or the consumer? Since the big companies and consumers didn't complain, there is no need of increaesing data cost. I suspect that the NCC chairman has been bribed by one company, hence the anti-people move. 3 Likes 1 Share |

I never thought I'll ever say this about this regime but these people lack empathy and they just don't care about the common man, we mean nothing to them. We must be less than dust to them maybe. Lesson learnt. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Would it not have been better for you to reduce the tax and NCC Charges being paid by the smaller players, rather than increasing the tariff ordinary Nigerians, that are already over burdened by the recession, are paying. 3 Likes |

Nigerian government bodies has never done anything to encourage nigerian companies or improve their growth but they are ready to make companies from other countries have a favourable market by hiking data prices. How many entrepreneurs have been favoured by any government body? Even in a local market, this their system cannot work. Nobody cares about your business, it is competition. Market systems are not built to be non competitive. I don't know why I hate being a Nigerian. Nothing works. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Why NCC Asked Big Operators To Raise Data Tariffs by Chukazu: 10:55am On Nov 30, 2016 |
wouldn't it have been better just ask all the operators, both GSM and CDMA to maintain a very cheap equilibrium price like GLO's 21kobo...so that revenue generation would be solely based on customer satisfaction and efficiency of service? this is a policy somersault more like.. NCC should be more concerned about connecting the next millions of unreached Nigerian youth who are constraint by high data charge. it is far better to build business on turn-over and large customer base than making "fat profit "with little or low customers' patronage 2 Likes |

With this trending news of NCC directing big telecommunications indutsries to increase price of data. I can bet that most Nigerians will tap into this opportunity and start courses like : 1. How to become an expert in Data subscription management 2. Diploma and certificate in Data subscription utilization 3. tricks on how to manage 200mb in a month 4. How to detect heavy files that will consume your data 5 How to surf the net with zero data with 200 naira per month 6 How to decode govt WIFI password to browse freely 7. how to use Nokia 3310 to browse for free with just 1kb data per hour 8. how to connect cables from your phone to MTN, GLO ,ZAIN ,Etisalat to get free data 9. buy our products and get free data to check your WhatsApp and mail box 10. Even restaurants will tell you to buy a plate of fufu and browse for free for 20 minutes ETC So much ............ Just as lai muhammed said masquerading is another job opportunity for our youths, I have also open your eyes to business opportunities on this data increament coming up as from December 1 , 2016. guys and ladies , watch out |

The regulator is of the opinion that without a price floor, the dominant operators can engage in predatory pricing to drive down other operators, meaning the industry could be moving towards a monopoly. Above is the dumbest thing I have ever heard from a government official. Doesn't capitalism operate under the principles of free-market anymore? The proper thing to do is allow competetion to continue to drive down price naturally, until if posibble data becomes free for the benefit of Nigerians!. The excuse of fear of monopoly is very lame. How could MTN, GLO, Airtel, Etisalat, be said to be a monopoly? This government is extremely very wicked!!! 4 Likes 3 Shares |

This is the kind of thing that makes support of GMB difficult. Why force an increase at a period when people are already feeling the bite as everything has gone up? A government should be driven towards citizen welfare and not necessarily business interests' welfare. We should only consider the welfare of a business if it affects the citizenry positively...If the so called small operators and new entrants are finding it difficult they can merge with the other big players. How many people do these so called small operators and newcomers employ compare to the millions that benefit from the relatively cheap data tarrifs and the Government wants too take it away...The mumu head of that NCC ought to be fired. 1 Like 1 Share |

What monopoly? Typical backward African thinking. During elections, you see all sorts of small parties getting votes that are hardly enough to win departmental elections during a governorship election, instead of collapsing all the parties and just having to wait or three parties at the maximum, we will have many inconsequential parties who we know can't win elections. Same mentality is being brought to the telecommunications sector. How can you say you want to protect the against monopoly by asking telecommunications network to increase their tariff? The new networks coming up already know what they will be facing so if they can't compete why should they start another network in the first place? The four main ones are okay. If the small ones wants to rise they should offer more data for less money. NCC should even asked the networks to further reduce the tariff plan not increase it again. |
