Hospital workers in ABSUTH lock out patients as they protest over unpaid wages

A heavy protest was held by workers of the Abia state university teaching hospital (ABSUTH) on Monday morning over unpaid salaries.

The workers have not been paid in 7 months and many say they have had enough of the state government's excuses and promises. Patients were locked out of the hospital premises. Photos below;

Hospitals in Nigeria that are owned by state and LG areas find it difficult to fund them,selves because the patients pay very low hospital fees....and this has a bad effect on the budget.

Then there is the fact that funding from the state has fallen due to oil price shortfall.

In my opinion, teaching hospitals should be privatized....so that govt can focus on primary and secondary health care.

If only we could lock up the gates of our State and Federal House of Assembly, Mayb things will turn around
Those guys don't know key issues to discuss, all they do is to share the money.

They should make laws that will enforce the executives to never owe health institutions.
