NO friendship in business. Whether you are igbo or not, businessmen don't care and it has nothing to do with biafra. Dont be surprised that most of those commenting on that page are even worse when on business dealing with their fellow igbo brothers. As much as those transporters can be very insensitive, One also need to consider fuel cost, the comfort you get, extortion from police, demand and the need to make profit....so i don't blame them. Cement was sold for N2200 last week and today it is about N2600, will an Hausa man intending to build house run to dangote insulting him as to how insensitive and greedy is his? it is pure business. if you can afford it go ahead and if you cant, find an alternative. xharder:Have you forgotten that the igbo nation is the only place in Nigeria where capitalism is a general ideology. The rest of Nigeria are socialistic hell-holes.And they are not very good at it. The part of Nigeria that had free education were taught by their sage how to be socialistic. The northern part of Nigeria on the other hand are socialistic through centuries of islamic conditioning. Look at kemi adeosun's brand of economics- That is socialism ,though the very unsophisticated kind. 3 Likes |

If you think that the sudden price increase by this transporter is the only inhuman thing they use to do then you are on a long thing. They are the one that will put fake passengers inside the bus to fool the incoming passengers that the bus is almost filled up, after which the fake passenger will be coming down one by one until you are the only one left in the bus after five to seven hours waiting in the bus. They are the one that will tell you to come down from the bus to make arrangement after which they will return your T fare just because they've seen new passenger that paid higher than what you paid. After you must have been in the bus for five to seven hours waiting for the bus to move. 14 Likes 1 Share |

cstr44: yea you are right, even at that, igbos will always afford it. in recession, people are still going home not minding the high fares, afterall they are also businessmen who have increased the cost of their goods too. Man must break even the Op is a typical clown, whose intention was to mock igbos, biafra and tell that we are greedy, not united and because of that, biafra will not work... but like i said he is a clown and he failed woefully.... business has noting to do with biafra, all those commenting those nonsense on that facebook page and are relating it to biafra are just emotional junkies who dont understand how business work..In business, there is not friend, tribe or whatsoever. it is pure/strictly business. 1 Like 1 Share |

cstr44: Nobody mentioned government's failure to regulate capitalism in the east. They only complained about mindless greed and exploitation by ibo transport operators. Why are transport operators in other parts of the country able to self regulate by not gouging their customers? 10 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Lamentations As Igbo Transporters Exploit Igbo Commuters In South East by cstr44: 7:52pm On Jan 09, 2017 |
Aigbofa:Mindless greed is trait of humanity. And in places where the obviously superior capitalism is not regulated, exploitation would be the result. Either in the US, UK or Nigeria. And that is why the US have agencies like the SEC, FBI and co to monitor and control mindless western capitalism. 1 Like |

cstr44: There's nothing like superior capitalism anywhere and the US government does not go around telling taxi drivers how much to charge their customers, what they do however is to promote an environment where people have different choices. That is why I agreed with the guy who mentioned high speed train. 15 Likes 1 Share |

Aigbofa: you are wrong my friend, local council or district regulate taxi fares in every part of the developed world. Your taxi badge is issued by the local authourity and if you go against the condition of issue, it can be withdrawn. 2 Likes |

Aigbofa:I didn't mean superior capitalism as a word. I mean capitalism is obviously superior when compared to socialism atleast for progresssive nations. Taxi drivers in the US have an automated meter that runs prices as appropriate with respect to distance travelled. Tapering with such by a driver is a crime that would earn you a jail time. And that is the government regulation i was talking about 1 Like |

Re: Lamentations As Igbo Transporters Exploit Igbo Commuters In South East by cstr44: 8:14pm On Jan 09, 2017 |
Aigbofa:That is a different kettle of fish and you know it. You are still being charged the distance travelled as read by the government regulated meter. It is not the government's fault that you don't know the routes very well. And then it is a civil crime which you can sue for. |
Re: Lamentations As Igbo Transporters Exploit Igbo Commuters In South East by Nobody: 8:23pm On Jan 09, 2017 |
cstr44: This is similar to what the ibo operators are doing, they exploit the passengers lack of choices. But unlike in iboland you can decide not to take a cab and take a public bus, a train or even fly. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Aigbofa:My friend, i am tired. I don't know if you are just trying to play dumb. That is not a failure of government. It is just a driver taking advantage of a naive passenger. The same passenger can sue if he wants to. I doubt if there is any legal basis for such in Nigeria There is no government regulation in Nigerian transport prices in the first place. Unlike in developed climes, where prices for distance travelled is controlled by the government, there is no such thing in Nigeria. The passenger and the driver already knows that the prices he would pay for the mileage is regulated by a fair system. It is left for the passenger to ensure that he/she does not use beyond the necessary mileage. In nigeria on the other hand, there is no appropriate price for mileage , which is supposed to a function of government regulation. Anybody can fix anything, which is no real fault of theirs anyway. It is a national failure more-or less. Bring american taxi drivers here and exposed them to unregulated capitalism, they would do the same thing. There is a reason why the greatest fraudsters in the world like maddof and co are not igbo men or African for that matter. 3 Likes |

cstr44: You are the fool here, you just told us that government regulations will take care of the greedy ibo transporters and I said that is not true. If you want to emulate the US then let it be in the form of providing different options for consumers. If government regulations does not prevent taxi operators in the US from cheating their customers why the hell do you think it will work here? You know someone lost an argument when they start throwing tantrums. 9 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Lamentations As Igbo Transporters Exploit Igbo Commuters In South East by cstr44: 8:57pm On Jan 09, 2017 |
Aigbofa:smh. Different options is all well and good which is also another reason why Nigeria is a shitthole, but that is not the main thing in question. You have no other alternative for your citizens, and yet the federal government failed to regulate the only one available. That is the crux of the matter. If the US had only one option, it would be heavily regulated than it currently is. And no, taxi drivers do not cheat their passengers in the US.The system is regulated. That is another nonsense you concoted from your afonja mind. And it is not because they are better human beings or have a higher moral code, it is because they have no choice. What you put in is what you get out. Even if you decide to roam the whole times square in a taxi like a maniac, what you put in is what you get. 2 Likes |

This is a clear case of Economic principle at work here, "The higher the demand, the higher the price". It baffles me when every little thing is used to spite the Igbos especially when done by the same Igbos........ (Ngene). The issue of transport fare hike being predominant with the Igbos is cos the Igbos are the tribe that reside mainly outside of their enclaves. You can count the number of yoruba men living in Aba, so tell me, will there be any surge in passengers coming down to Aba from the west after the festive period? The ans is NO!!! Invariably, the fare will remain the same. Now compare this to the surge in the volume of passengers going from Aba to just Lagos this January, invariably since the demand is high, the price will go up. The same scenario also plays out with flights, flight fares are higher during festive periods when there is increase in passengers. it's costlier to book flights during festive periods than non festive periods. So turning this issue and making it an Igbo bashing issue is seriously like giving a dog a bad name just to hang it. Ngene......He that kills his brother is no warrior......
