i join others in applauding BRF's good works as acknowledged by Guardian and other media houses. shows if a man is good and hardworking we nigerians can als recognise. we should get involved with our local reps- LG councillor, State Assembly member, Fed. rep and senator so they know we are watching them and expect to earn their salary + egunje by doing something!!! |

Quote from: nas 00 on Today at 09:44:47 AM We need 36 Fasholas in 9ja to make rapid progress. That sounds rather far fetched Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked We need one Leader @ the highest echelon who can accurately capture the vision for 9ja's greatness and inculcate it into others. Once the vision is well documented, anyone [whether leader or led] can read it, take personal ownership and run with it. ^^ In case u never thought of it, things may not work in 9ja that way (Federalism) However, if we have 36 governors that perform like Fashola, even an slowpoke can sit on the top echelon and u'll think he's sane until u move closer, because the 'system' will be efficient Who cares about federalism, anyway. So far 'things are working' in the country, we're home and dry. |

What Fashola has done to date in Lagos is nothing extraordinary, if you held him up to the standard by which you would judge the chief executive of a municipality in a developed country. But given that in Nigeria, government is reputed for corruption, ineptitude, lack of vision and a care-not attitude toward the welfare of the state, the fact that Fashola is delivering on his vision for the state is enough to endear him to his constituents. The challenges Fashola faces are never experienced by his counterparts in other states. No other governor has to deal with 15m people crammed into a small landmass, all of whom are needy of municipal services. And they keep coming from every nook and corner of the country and other African countries as well. The fact that the state, under his tutelage, has not buckled under such tremendous weight is enough to earn him accolades as the best among Nigerian governors. |

He that cleared and brought light to Oshodi is indeed a great man. Fashola deserves the accolades he is getting. |

Re: Fashola Is The Guardian's Man Of The Year 2009 by Redman44(m): 10:23pm On Jan 03, 2010 |
Governor Fashola deserves the award because he's a dynamic leader. It should also be noted that the owner of The Guardian Newspapers is Alex Uruemu Ibru [ The other Ibru brothers have their own businesses ]. The paper's proprietress is his wife, Maiden Ibru [ nee Stephanopolous ]. Alex Ibru does not influence the paper's editorial direction. He hardly visits The Guardian's premises. So the Editors of the paper have the creative freedom to report stories as they want, even those involving the Ibru Family. Alex Ibru is a man of strong convictions and integrity. Congrats to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola |

I doff my hat for Govenor Fashola for proving a different and exceptional ruler in Nigeria. As for me, when i assess all the giant strides projects embarked upon by his administration and the pace of execution, I'll say as far as good political leadership is concerned in Nigeria, Fashola is the only Gov that has turned over a new leaf. He's not an avaricious and proliferate leader, but disciplined and goal-oriented. So, i have no doubt, if Guardian chose him as Man of the Year, 2009. Well done, Fashola. keep it up more power to your elbow. |
