Trying To Find A Couple Of Songs From The 50's/60's by Lozhka: 6:52pm On Jan 05, 2010
Hello everyone!

I am trying to track down some Nigerian songs that my mother remembers hearing when she was a child. The first song was sung by a man and was mostly in English, but might have had some Yoruba in it (unfortunately I don't know any Yoruba and my mum only remembers a little, so I can only really use phonetic approximations based on what I hear from my mum and what little I've seen of Yoruba - do forgive me if these approximations look awful!). This is what my mum remembers of the lyrics:

Sisi boki(?) why you deceive me?
You say you love me
We stay together
Now you go and you marry another man

Apparently it was quite upbeat, and there was something about the singer being heartbroken.

The second song had both male and female vocals and was probably in Yoruba, so here is an approximation of what my mum remembers:

Bonsawe, bonsawe
Adikiwe
(something something)
Aba! Aba!

This song also had a part with a woman singing something sounding like "iye, iye".

That's all the information I have. Does anyone have any idea about what either of these songs were called and/or who sang them?

Thanks in advance, and once again, sorry for my awful phonetic 'Yoruba'!
