Without missing any word, this Nollywood actress really suffered in the hands of his thug husband Mr. Lanry Gentry.

People has been wondering why it took Mercy Aigbe a long time to take a decision to leave her husbands house and have been very confused as to how she was suffering like this in silence. Mercy has now narrated her ordeal and why it too her time to make a decision. She granted an interview with Broadway TV and narrated the details of the scandal that have trailed her and her husband for the past few weeks.

The excerpts:

Mercy had accused her husband of physical violence that has affected her sight and caused her to bleed internally from the physical abuse allegedly melted down to her on Sunday, April 16, 2017.

When she was asked why she came out to say her husband never touched her, she was quick to refute it.

“I never for once came out to say that my husband did not beat me. The video people were referring to happened in 2013 when there were rumours of such and I did a video recording alongside my husband to debunk the claim. At that time I had to do it to protect his image and my marriage. I had to do a live video at that time”, she said.

About Beating…

“He beats me consistently.”
When probed on why she stayed that long after the consistent beating, Mercy revealed that she did because she wanted a home.

“I stayed because I loved him and because he beats me, he begs and gets family and friends to beg me. He promised regularly to change but he never did. When my husband gets angry, he gets physical, not only to me but to anyone. He has done that with my house help who reported him to the Police years ago.

“I stayed because of my children and a lot of people look up to me. I was a role model of some sort and I really wanted to keep it together. I just wanted a home”.

Why she wants to leave now…

“It’s not like I wanted to walk away but I just feel like we need help. I spoke to my husband’s brother about it. I told him I was going to pack out for some time while my husband seeks therapy. I just wanted to feel safe, that is why I moved my things out. This last beating was brutal. I actually thought I was going to die”.

I’m Still Coughing blood

The Nollywood actress revealed that her husband broke her orbits which will necessitate a surgery for her to see properly. “I’m still coughing and sneezing blood even after three weeks”, she reveals how severe the injury inflicted upon her is.

My Husband Was Sleeping With a Girl

Also revealed that the last incident started few days before when she discovered that her husband was sleeping with a lady.

A lady she claimed to be her friend whom she was close to. This was a regular attitude from her husband; a man she claims has slept with a lot of people close to her, even her PAs. She confronted him and it led to a huge argument which was turning violent before she had to keep quiet.

He Kept Beating Me. On the day of the incident, Mercy had informed her husband that she was attending a burial of her colleague. After his hesitance, she explained that it would not be fair on the lady since she had promised to be there and even invited him to come along.

Mercy revealed that it was her refusal to go and pick her husband up while she was still at her designer’s place that brought the fury of the man on her. He was said to have driven there and started to beat her in the presence of everybody.

“Immediately, I opened the door, he kept beating me. I was begging him and asking why he was beating me. He said he would destroy my face such that no make-up would fix it and destroy my career. He was acting like someone who was possessed. I told him “Lanre, mo ma bi mo fun e” (translated as “I have a child for you).

I agree that I am a fool

In the exclusive interview, the Nollywood star said she agrees that she was a fool for staying that long even with all the beating and humiliation. “I believed that a wise woman builds her home. That’s why I stayed that long”, she said.

About Cheating

“If he had shown a bit of remorse, maybe things would have been different. He went on saying that I cheated on him several times. I never cheated. That’s why I told him to come out with proof”, she said.

My Husband was in detention for over 7 months

“My husband was in detention for over seven months and I never left him or go anywhere. Why would I want to go now? He says all this is make-up. He is not showing any form of remorse and still sponsoring lies against me.

This is going to be long, I hope you endure to the end.

I know what I am about to say will be controversial and not "politically correct", mostly for the feminist and others. I expect a lot of backlash, abuse and calling of names, it is a burden I am willing to take on.

I expect everybody to come here and call this man names, he's an animal, a coward (I agree on this), woman beater and all sort just to be accepted. But I have decided to share a different opinion.

First, people don't just go about attacking other people, not a woman you are married to, not the mother of your children, even mad people don't frequently attack people at random.

The thing is everybody have a breaking point, no matter how much you try to endure and try to be the better person, there comes that point you just can't take it.

Have I hit a woman b4? Yes, twice. It is not something I am proud of, I feel ashamed of myself afterwards. Now I have had my fair share of relationships but one stands out and I pray no man finds himself with a woman like that. This girl's words are venom, she rain abuses at the slightest provocation. If anyone knows me outside NL will know that I am extremely quite, an introvert and avoids confrontation at all cost.

If we agree to meet somewhere and she gets there before, am dead. No matter the reason, she will call me and start abusing me, in fact if you are to hear her, you will call me a fool for staying with that kind of person. But she is not always like that, when she's not angry, she's one of the nicest person ever. Well educated and from a decent home so there's no indication that she will be like that.

The first time I hit her, we went to buy something together at the market. We ended up having a different opinion about an item and that was when she got angry, she started abusing me right there in public. It was as if the ground should open and swallow me, I was so embarrassed I decided to leave and go home. When she got back, she started yelling at me for leaving her behind at the market and the abuses begin. At that point I lost it, already am fuming from the market incident and now this, she has said worst things to me before and I simply walk away but this time I don't know what happened and I slapped her. Of course I apologized and begged and we got back to being normal, I noticed the abuses even stopped for sometime.

Now I don't want to mention what happened the second time, because not even a pope would have been able to handle the situation. At that point I ended the relationship.

Am i going to mention the times she gets angry and begin to damage my properties? Anything she gets her hands on she will destroy it. We all heard about Tonto Dikeh damaging properties worth millions of Churchill's.

The ultimate question is, why didn't I just leave the relationship, answer is, beside her bad moments she's a nice person. Plus I had to endure to keep up the relationship. Now it would be even more difficult for married people.

I am no way encouraging physical abuses by men, but before you crucify the man, have you considered what the man has been through?

No man should raise his hands on a woman, however we shouldn't be quick to throw the men under the bus either. This man is languishing in prison, some of us wouldn't have been able to walk half a mile in his shoes.

May God give us all compatible partners.

Please give me one reason why this attention seeking Hoe keep trying to gather a pity party...

Why is she dressed up as a village slut who was caught stealing some tubers of yam?

Why is she with that scattered hairstyle?

I see no reason why she is trying to pull a tiwa savage on her husband after he has been imprisoned. I don't buy the idea of domestic violence but this bìtches are becoming annoying

First it was Tiwa then Tonto now this dirty attention seeking Hoe?

What the fück are these women turning into? angry

It is better to remain single than to be in an abusive marriage.

Lanre Gentry is a COWARD. He should have challenged anthony Joshua. Eranko lasanlasan.

And you Mercy, I know you run your mouth anyhow like someone who ate okro. Your utterance towards your husband must have triggered his anger to dat extent. Learn to close your mouth with a lid or better zip it up.

We all have our short comings. Mercy knows her husband's and hence should have learnt to mng it properly, same goes for d husband too.
I'm sure she learnt a lot of provocative words in the course of her yoruba movie career and also having all these oloshos around, these category of pple can really talk dirty seriously. I am Yoruba and wat I see in most of their productions are terrible.
As for Mr. Lanre, that serves him right. You are messing around and yet can't control ur temperament, what if she die while beating her.
Pls, if you know you can't manage a partner peacefully, just go for baby mama/daddy jejely. We need peace in d society.

They have arrived...
The justification crew... tactical withdrawal hah?
You seem good with words, I hope you will be able to type this kind of story when a woman stabs her husband to death. After all, she has been through a lot.

If at that point you hit her, she slumped and died...it happens. Will you be on Nairaland typing this beautiful nonsense?
Continue justifying,till you kill someone.
You'll tell this story to a judge.

Mercy pls can you allow us hear from your man? Even though he doesn't have the right to lay a finger on you no matter what. He deserves a fair hearing.

I know the genesis of all this is that he slept with another lady.

undecided mercy shut up, just shut up. I for one don't want to hear any disgusting story from you. You are not a saint yourself. Back in 2013, when you left your husband at a show Abi interview just to see another person and he beat you, by yourself you made a video to debunk the news. Now you want to tell us a story. Biko tell your story to the gods. When he wasn't broke were you not enjoying the money alone biko aunty, face your sorrow yourself. I won't sympathize with you on this one.
To those hypocrite, ready to eat my shoe because am saying the truth which is bitter to their ears. I no send you ooo ...eat and be merry
