5,000 Displaced After Violence In Nigeria by Beaf: 12:14am On Jan 19, 2010 |
5,000 displaced after violence in Nigeria * Death toll rises to 26, security forces patrol violence-hit areas JOS/KANO: About 5,000 people were displaced in Nigeria as clashes between Christians and Muslims erupted in Jos, a city that saw more than 300 residents killed during a similar uprising in 2008. Twenty-six people were dead and 69 injured as rioters burned mosques and homes, local Red Cross official Auwal Muhammad Madobi said. He said he had no information about deaths and police officials declined to offer a count of the dead. The rioting began Sunday, when angry Muslim youths attacked and set fire to a church, said Gregory Yenlong, a state government spokesman. Yenlong said he did not know why the young men set the blaze. “That’s what’s being investigated,” he said. Police arrested 35 people who they suspect took part in the rioting, Yenlong said. He said at least five of the men arrested were wearing fake Nigerian military uniforms. Nigerian security forces cordoned off the district of the city. “We have received 16 dead bodies since yesterday. Eleven of them were buried yesterday and we are conducting a funeral for the remaining five. So far we have over 300 injured people, most of them from gunshots,” the head of the central mosque of Jos, Balarabe Dawud, told AFP. agencies http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2010\01\19\story_19-1-2010_pg7_3 |

Let's offer help to Haiti. It is logical and makes more sense. |

^ Are you psychologically damaged? Why do you keep things from thread to thread? You are sick but you don't realise it. |

ElRazur: Honestly, this is not funny. (On a second note, I don't know what is going on between the two of you) |
Re: 5,000 Displaced After Violence In Nigeria by ElRazur: 12:21am On Jan 19, 2010 |
Beaf: I just like it when you contradict yourself. By the way, what are you doing for these people affected by the violence? After all, you have advocated for much help for Haiti. . . Let us see how much help you advocate for your own people now? Yeye man. |
Re: 5,000 Displaced After Violence In Nigeria by edoyad(m): 12:26am On Jan 19, 2010 |
And you wonder why we're called a terrorist country ? What do you call a person who goes to deliberately attack innocent people to kill as many of them as possible, regardless of whether he lives or dies, with "god" being his motivation. |
Re: 5,000 Displaced After Violence In Nigeria by ElRazur: 12:26am On Jan 19, 2010 |
Tsiya: Once you know the background, it is funny. Beaf basically advocated for Nigeria offering help to Haiti, I challenged the notion that while Nigerians as an individual can offer help, it will be unwise for Nigeria as a nation to offer help. I asked him to specify what kind of help Nigeria should offer that cannot be of use to people at home. So far, he is unable to answer. It may be worth mentioning that he posted the thread in question due to the fact that Senegal offered help and he feels because we are so called "Giant" of Africa, we should do the same - A very useless logic. So yeah, whenever he post any thread showing that Nigeria have issues, I respond by saying, let us ignore our issues and concentrate on another nation. |

ElRazur: yeh, yeh, I saw it. But then it is not everything you have to comment. When you do not agree with something you keep quiet, after all yours or his opinion is not a policy |

edoyad: seems like the muslims were also killed and mosques burnt.I still dont get why someone would be living in a terrorist zone when he has several options. |

Mr abagoro the more i try to comprehend what you say the more asinine it sounds to me. So you us to abandon our land for you cos some scoundrels fail the recognize the sanctity of another mans property/rights ? America should abandon their land because alqaeda has launched attacks on them i presume ? That is the where their delusion has lied to them, if it used to happen before that is not the case anymore. |

I don't understand why learned people can't see the religious undertone of these riots. For so many years now, Christians in Nigeria have been turning the other cheek. When will they understand that the greater plan of northern muslims is not just to slap their cheeks, but to decapitate their heads. |

metal-gong: @metal-gong, very tribalistic. Never forget that he who points an accusing finger has an extra 3 pointing back at him. Please watch your tongue and keep your immature mentality to yourself before you ignite a repetition of the Jos crisis in Niaraland |

Are you surprise Sometime I wonder why people complain of Nigeria being in the world terrorist list, the northern part of this Nigeria, has never enjoyed one three hundred and sixty five days [365] of paces, yet the Muslims in the west, east, south and south-south, go around our areas unmolested, they say Islam is a religion of peace, of cues, we can all see by action that the reeves is the cause. Let’s stop all this killing, change now before it too late. |

Yenlong said he did not know why the young men set the blaze. “That’s what’s being investigated,” he said. God will never forgive Britain for this particular evil they have brought to this part of the world Called Nigeria. Tell me how we are supposed to live together with Animals of this nature. From fighting against western education to blowing up airplanes, and now burning churches. Not even at this sensitive moment we are hoping that our name be removed from the shi.ts they already dragged the whole nation into. I thought that we can push one Nigeria to work, but these animals in human form keep proving every one wrong. I cant be of the same nation with cows who think nothing but violence and distruction. |
Re: 5,000 Displaced After Violence In Nigeria by yousouph(m): 6:54am On Jan 19, 2010 |
Many things are wrong in this country. It is unimagineable to me, to kill what you cant create moreover, human like you. The issue of religious crisis in the North has not been dealt with otherwise, there should not be repeat of what happen not too long ago. We must know the motive behind the killing. |
This is a great lie, wat made the Muslim youths angry? A Muslim man wants to rebuild his house and its in a Christian dominated area, the Christians came to stop the building, they had an argument which led to the whole crisis, why do people like to point fingers to dent the image of Islam for God sake? It was on a Sunday when the quarrellings began, this scared the people in the Church and that was how the whole thing began, lets settle and iron things out amicably rather than blaming. |

trenchcoat: Where did the fighting start, also which part of Jos are you calling Christian dominated area, expect for apata which is mostly dominated my Igbo traders, there is no other part of Jos that is Christan dominated. I pray the fight didn't reach Tudun Warda like the last time. |
