@Nella,

Sorry for my late response. I have been very busy. I dont know why christians attack muslims on issues when they have worst cases in their holy book. It seems you have not been reading your bible, if you have, you would have read the saying of Jesus in

Mathew 7 v 5: You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. We will know see which of the book is worth giving to the younger ones to read.

Quran Sura 2:191: "Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kill them. Such is the reward of disbelievers."

You should have quoted the verse in full. This is what we have

Quran 2 v 191: and kill them wherever you find them and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-Al-Haram (The sanctuary at Mecca) unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.

It should be noted in the above verse that the verse was revealed during one of the wars fought by the Holy Prophet when they were being attacked by pagan arabs, unbelievers etc. Allah first told the prophet never to fight them, the pagans never allowed him perform his prayer and he had to migrate leaving behind his properties to Medinah. When the oppression was too much, Allah then ordered him to fight but never to exceed limit. So the above verse was revealed during the wars fought then.

Quran Sura 4:89: "Have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them."

Quran 4 v 89 : they wish that you reject faith as they have rejected faith, and thus that you all become equal (like one another). So take not protector or friends from them till they emigrate in the way of Allah (to muhammed saw). But if they turn back (from Islam), take hold of them and kill them wherever you find them and take neither protectors nor friends nor helpers from them

The same explanation goes here too.

Quran 5:33: "Those who make war with Allah and his messenger will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. That is how they will be treated in this world, and in the next they will have an awful doom." (Anyone who resist Islam is deemed to be making war with Allah)

Same explanation too.

Allah told us never to kill

Quran 5 v 32:  because of that, we ordained for the children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land – it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind….,

Quran 17 v 33: and do not kill anyone whose killing Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause, and whoever is killed wrongfully, we have given his heir the authority (to demand law of equality in punishment) – or to forgive, or take blood money. But let him npt exceed limits in the matter of taking life (i.e. he should not kill except the killer). Verily, he is helped (by the Islamic Law)

Quran 6 v 151:…., and kill not anyone whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause. This he commanded you that you may understand.

Having explained the verses, I will now go into the bible to compare the two books. I will be citing just or three examples out of very many exmaples.

Prophets but Naked!

Genesis 9 v 21: noah drank of the wine and became drunk and lay uncovered in his tent and Ham (his son) saw the unclothedness of his father

1st Samuel 19 v 23: and the spirit of God came upon Saul , and he too stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesised before Samuel and lay naked all the day and all the night.

2nd Samuel 6 v 20: david dances naked before the people and before the Lord.

Fornicators!

Judge 16 v 1 : and he went to Gaza, and there he saw a HARLOT and he went into her.

Lots daughter commit incest with him

Genesis 19 v 30: lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the hills with his two daughters. And the first born said to the younger, “our father is old and there is not a man on earth to come to us after the manner of all the earth
Come let us make our father drink wine and we will lie with him that we may preserve offspring through our father. So they made their father drink wine that night and the first born went in and lay with her father; he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.

And on the next day, the first born said to the younger, “ behold I lay last night with my father, let us make him drink wine tonight also; then you go in and lie with him that we may preserve offspring through our father. So they made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger arose and lay with him and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. Thus both the daughters of lot were with child by their father!!

Judah with his daugher-in-law Tamar

Genesis 38 v 15: when he saw her he thought her to be a harlot for she had covered her face. He went over her at the road side and said, “come, let me come into you’ for he did not that she was his daughter in law …., so he gave them to her and went into her and she conceived by him. About three months later, Judah was told, ‘ Tamar you daughter-in-law has played the harlot and moreover she is with child by harlotry.

The sex literature in the bible

Song of Songs 8:1-3 "If only you were to me like a brother, who was nursed at my mother's breasts! Then, if I found you outside, I would kiss you, and no one would despise me.  I would lead you and bring you to my mother's house-- she who has taught me. I would give you spiced wine to drink, the nectar of my pomegranates.  His left arm is under my head and his right arm embraces me."

Song of Solomon 8:10 "Dear brothers, I'm a walled-in virgin still, but my breasts are full— And when my lover sees me, he knows he'll soon be satisfied."

Song of Songs 4:5 "Your two breasts are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle that browse among the lilies."

Song of Songs 1:13 "My lover is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts."

Praising the bed that they had sex on:
Song of Songs 1:16 "How handsome you are, my lover! Oh, how charming! And our bed is verdant"

Song of Songs 1:2-4 "Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth-- for your love is more delightful than wine.   Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out. No wonder the maidens love you!  Take me away with you--let us hurry! Let the king bring me into his chambers. We rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. How right they are to adore you!"

His right arm sexually feeling her body:
Song of Songs 2:6 "His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me."

Song of Songs 3:4 "Scarcely had I passed them when I found the one my heart loves. I held him and would not let him go till I had brought him to my mother's house, to the room of the one who conceived me."

So in other words, she was not married to him, and when she found him, she took him back to her bed room to have illegal sex with him?  If she were married to him, she wouldn't take him to her "mother's house".  She would take him to their house.

Song of Songs 4:9 "You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace."

Fantasizing about his sister? at least he shows in this verse that he would!.

Song of Songs 4:10 "How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume than any spice!"

Song of Songs 4:12 "You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride; you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain."

Song of songs 4 v 1: behold, you are beautiful m love. Your lips are like a scarlet thread, your cheeks are like halves of a pomegranate, your neck like the tower of David. Your two breast are like fawns, twins of a gazelle. How sweet is your love my sister, my bride, how much better is your love than wine. How graceful are your feet in sandals,  o queenly maiden!
Your rounded thighs are like jewels, the work of a master hand. Your navel is rounded bowl that never lacks mix wine.
Your belly is heap of wheat, encircled with lilies.
Your two breast are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle.
Etc…

Proverb 5 v 18: rejoice with the wife of your youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breast satisfy you at all times.

Disgustful command to Ezekiel

Ezekiel 4 v 12: the lord said to Ezekiel, ‘ and you shall eat it as barley cakes and you shall bake it with dung that comes out of man in their sight. And the Lord said, ‘ even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the gentiles.
Then Ezekiel said, ‘ah Lord God, behold, my soul has not been polluted for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dies of itself or is torn in pieces, neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth.
Then God replied ands said to him, ‘ lo, I have given cow’s dung for man’s dung and you shall prepare your bread there with.

They eat dung and drink piss

2nd king 18 v 27: Rabshakeh said, ‘ has he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung and drink their own piss with you’.

Rape is allowed in the Bible.

Deuteronomy 22:25-29
25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26 But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: 27 For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. 28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; 29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

Now incase you didn’t catch where the rape is allowed I shall break the verses down to make it more clear and easier to understand. So lets break it down:

25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26 But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: 27 For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her

The verses 25-27 is talking about a NON-VIRGIN who is raped. So verses 25-27 do condemn rape, however so it only condemns rape in certain cases. So now we have established that if a non-virgin is raped then the rapist shall be killed. However so lets now read on to see where the rape is allowed:

28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; 29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

So now in verse 28 we see that if a man rapes a VIRGIN then his punishment is that he has to pay her father and marry her! What kind of law is that? I would really love to know why do you kill the rapist if he rapes a non virgin and why don’t you kill the rapist when he rapes a virgin? So as we all just saw, rape is condoned in certain cases in the Bible, when the victim happens to be a virgin the man gets away with it, when the victim is a non virgin the man is killed.

Let me post the entire passages again:

25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26 But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: 27 For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. 28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; 29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days

So there you go, in verses 25-27 when the non virgin is raped the rapist is killed. In verses 28-29 when a virgin is raped the rapist is not killed, the rape victim has to marry the rapist! Now I can assure you that no rape victim would ever want to marry her rapist, she would rather kill herself than marry her rapist. I wonder what Nella and other Christians have to say to this?

Killings in the bible

OT shows us a lot of battles that both Moses and David took part in, and both these men killed a lot of people, including women and children. Yet when I show this to Christians, they simply ignore it, or try to justify it. Yet what is most inconsistent about this is that if the prophet Muhammad kills people in battle or war, the Christian goes mad and starts screaming out 'false prophet!

Christians here on Nairaland have been claiming that Jesus is God, they claim that Jesus is the same God of the OT. So basically what we have is this:

1- Jesus is God

2- Jesus is the God of the Old Testament

3- Christians believe that the OT is the inspired word of God

4- The OT is authentic to the Christian

5- The God in the OT is Jesus

So since Jesus is the God of the OT, we shall now look at the God of the OT ordering the KILLINGS of many people:

Zephaniah 2:12-15

"You Ethiopians will also be slaughtered by my sword," says the LORD. And the LORD will strike the lands of the north with his fist. He will destroy Assyria and make its great capital, Nineveh, a desolate wasteland, parched like a desert. The city that once was so proud will become a pasture for sheep and cattle. All sorts of wild animals will settle there. Owls of many kinds will live among the ruins of its palaces, hooting from the gaping windows. Rubble will block all the doorways, and the cedar paneling will lie open to the wind and weather. This is the fate of that boisterous city, once so secure. "In all the world there is no city as great as I," it boasted. But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a place where animals live! Everyone passing that way will laugh in derision or shake a defiant fist

Ezekiel 9:5-7
"Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all – old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the Temple." So they began by killing the seventy leaders. "Defile the Temple!" the LORD commanded. "Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go!" So they went throughout the city and did as they were told."

Let me stop here. Do I need to say more? The bible is indeed the holiest book  cheesy cheesy.

Take care Sweet sister Nella.

@Nella,

Thank you sister for the response. Honestly, I am very tired of this debate. I have been trying to limit my posts to Islamic threads for the benefit of my faithful brothers and sisters unless if I see anything or read anything pertaining to Islam and muslims on other threads and it will not be like the blind arguments one has been experiencing on Nairaland. No matter how hard you may try, you will never be able to convince or change people even with your facts. The reason is not far fetched from the fact that its only God that can change people regardless of how you may be trying with proofs. God says that, even if the angels and the dead come from heaven and graves and show people proofs, some will still not believe.

So my sister, lets leave those aside and thanks for accepting my proposal to divert the topic.

You claimed that you are not an Arsenal fan, that you love playing football but that you dont like watching it!

May I know if you are playing for your country or club level.

Also, how come you love playing football but do not like watching it?

Stay blessed and highly favoured. cheesy cheesy

@Nella,

Thanks for the post.

To your question:

I have never been bored and will never be bored watching football and even watching my favourites.

I derive excitement watching the young gunners trample upon the mighty Liverpool, Man U. and Chelsea.

Also, the likes of Henry called Igwe, Van Parsie, Adebayor, Rosicky, Hleb, Toure, Eboue, Calamity Senderos, Theo Walcott, Gilberto, Fabregas, Gallas, Denilson etc will surely make you stay glued to your screen with their brand of football.

If you have been watching teams like chelsea, liverpool etc, you will definitely be bored because they have no pattern of play but if you watch Arsenal play, you will never feel like leaving your screen because Arsenal play the most attractive football in Europe.

Hey, thank God you are from the same country with big names like Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Deco etc, they sure are very great ballers and I love their style of play.

If you are becomig bore as a result of watching football, I wonder what you will be telling people that are very bored at watching you play because you never encouraged them to be watching football.

Take care

Once a gunner will always be.

Gunner for life. We will always gun 'em down.

Bye and stay cool

@Nella.

Thank you for deciding to be one of us (Gunners). We are adding new feather to our cap.

I bet you will never regret being one of us but its just that injury affected us this season and am very sure that next season will be a bountiful harvest for we gunner fans.

Next season, we will collect the Carling cup, the F.A, the Premiership and the biggest of all, the EUFA cup.

Lets keep gunnin 'em down.

U can bet it with me that you will never regret being an Arsenal Fan.

Gunners for Life.

Try watching one of the matches and you will never regret doing so.

Take care.

I am trying to find this document referenced in the excellent piece.

Suyuti: Itqan, part 3

Specifically relating to the bit where Umar says... no one can say they have the whole QUr'an, can only say we have what survived...

Does anyone know where I can find it online?
