FORMER Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Sanni Toro, has advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) not to waste time in engaging the present Egyptian national team coach, Hassan Shehata, for the Super Eagles ahead of the South Africa 2010 World Cup in June.

Toro, who spoke with newsmen on the phone yesterday, called for the total overhaul of the Super Eagles for the team's dismal outing at the just concluded African Cup of nations in Angola, just as he noted that the federation should utilise the opportunity it had in discussing with the victorious pharaohs coach to land him the Eagles job for a successful outing in South Africa.

He noted that coach Shehata had proved that he has an African experience in blending purely local players into a winning side with his head-to-head winning of the African Nations Cup with Egypt for three consecutive times.

Toro stated that there is no better time than now to overhaul the Super Eagles starting from the technical crew to the players because according to him, Coach Amodu has proved beyond doubt that he lacks what it take to lead Nigeria to a successful outing in South Africa.

"Now is the real time to sack the Super Eagles technical crew headed by Shuaibu Amodu. The present Super Eagles coaching crew has exhibited a lot of technical and tactical lapses, which would put the country at a risk if the NFF insists on retaining the present technical crew for the World cup," Toro warned.

He also recommended that former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh, be drafted into the team as an assistant to Shehata.

The former NFA scribe blamed the gap between Amodu and his assistant Daniel Amokachi as part of the problems, which the team faced in Angola, noting that Amokachi had played the game very well before turning into a coach while Amodu did not.

Toro noted that a coach of Hassan Shehata's calibre would instill the much needed discipline in the Super Eagles considering his age and pedigree, adding that the team could not excel in Angola because the players were not discipline since a good number of them felt they were bigger than the members of the technical crew.

The former House of Representatives member warned that the NFF should not look at the short time remaining for the World Cup, adding that a sound coach would transform the present Super Eagles players into a winning side even before the World Cup begin
