I actually just logged in today to say, choice of courses in Engineering should be in this order:
1. Computer Science
2. Electrical engineering
3. Number 1 or 2
4. Industrial Engineering, due to its versatility
....
8. Mechanical engineering and all its variants, e too hard grin

Focus should be anything software related.
Opportunities abound and pay is better. Tech is the new Oil n Gas.

Did you get any internship?
Intel hires lots of Chemical (process) and Electrical engineers.

In Nigeria we focus on Power.
Look into Electronics e.g.: Controls, Networking, Systems Design/VLSI, Circuit Design... you might end up as a SWE later on...
Make $500,000/annum and they give you chieftancy title in your village cheesy

1. All hope is not lost, get admitted for an MSc in Civil...
If you can achieve PR, no problem, you'll get a job easily.

My focus was on studies where numerous opportunities abound and employers 'easily' file for immigrants.

2. Get an admission for Civil with the knowledge you'll be switching course...
Take courses close to your desired end point...
Ask to switch: worst case, you start afresh - lose all 3 courses OR you lose 1 course.

You take undergraduate pre-reqs, the switch is finalized. All your sins in Civil are washed away.

You become a whole new person, your career is realigned.

It will cost you more money and time when compared with someone that did their interest directly and finished in 18 to 24months.

Any job that does not involve customer interaction or visiting sites can be 100% remote here. As an IT person I work 100% remote as well. Have not even been to the office in over 2 years. Been totally remote even before Covid.

Good job Macky!

I still do not know why people study this course. It's absolutely difficult and for nothing.

Ps. I’m in my final year studying Mechatronics Engineering, almost similar to Mechanical Engineering you studied in your undergraduate, grin ).

Mechatronics covers engineering topics like Circuit design, Control Systems, PLC, Automation, Robotics, Embedded firmware etc. I would assume a significant portion of your undergraduate classes covered these topics. If you really want to pursue a master’s, I’d suggest you shoot for CS or EE. If so, brush up on data structures, algorithms and writing clean code with C++ or Python. That’s my opinion sha.

Stay home and press computer all day cheesy
Chill work, no preparation to leave home and drive 1hour to work, lunch at home is easy...

Currently doing a quality Program Management kind of role for our Global factories (7 factories majorly and some specific shorter term projects across some other factories/lines of business).

Some chilling in-between work, only problem is starting can be as early as 7am thrice a week and twice a week I have 9pm meetings with Global teams.

The best part is closing for the day and walking approx 5 steps from my "office" to end up at "home from work" kiss

Was at a city park yesterday, weather was nice, park was clean with adequate parking and very few people there.
Texas heat dropped over the weekend to 70+ Fahrenheit.

Went out today with my guy from Oklahoma City and his colleague...
He has moved to Dallas and came into Austin for a company event. To take picture no even cross my mind...

You are right, it consists of the topics you listed and that’s the main reason I don’t see myself threading that career path.
If I could, I would have changed department to something more related to production/manufacturing for BEng.

Among the listed courses above, what do you have to say about Mechatronics engineering?

I am highly concerned about job prospects post graduation and employer filing thats why I recommended what I did.

I do not know much about prospects for mechatronics as I have never looked into it, but for citizens without issues bothering on work authorization, they can do whatever they wanna do.... international students do not have this luxury.

If you have the capacity, you can take extra contract jobs or jobs as a consultant...

I never signed a non-compete or it's related cousins therefore i can theoretically take another job but I also do not have time for a second job, raising a child is a fulltime job so I am over loaded with tasks already.
