Hello Nairalanders, I'll like to know if generic groceries like walmart's great value is bad. I bought

some when I realized they were cheap. Most people I asked said it is because they are bad for the health that is the

reason they sell at a reduced rate. Is it true?

There is nothing wrong in buying generic groceries. As for me that is what i buy most times. There taste the same as branded ones. What I do most times when I buy them I put it insider a container at least people cannot tell which is which.

nothing bad just read the nutritional value labels , brand names can be equally as bad it just depends on what you are buying

not so much the generic issue as the Nigerian style customer service there.

generic foods are of the same quality as name brand. many times these store brand foods are made by the larger manufactuers. example walmart mac and cheese is made by Kraft. Giant pastas are made by muellers. remeber tha us has some of the strictest food saftey laws around

Agathamari is right about the bigger manufacturers also being the same ones doing a lot of the generics. Also this is America and walmart is not stupid. You put anything on the shelf that does not meet FDA standard and someone says it caused a tummy ache they will get sued out their butt
