Few months ago, I withdrew some cash at the ATM in Access Bank Ado-Ekiti, from the notes, there was a #1000 that had cut off from one corner, I reported to the security, they asked for witness, lol, and I was the only one withdrawing that day, no one behind me, it was 4pm, couldn't go into the Bank, I was told to come the next day.
I did, but they didn't help inside the bank, they said they are gonna call me, if they see the other part of the torn currency in the ATM because ATM (at that moment) it was full.

I couldn't use the money, people kept rejecting it, till I sold it at #500 to someone.
It was annoying.
I don't think they monitor the dudes who handles this stuffs. Honestly speaking Ekiti State banking customers dey suffer like madt.

I pity Una for that State been there once

So if our almighty ATMs can dispense fake notes, does it mean we can also pay in fake notes through the ATM? If we can, will the banks accept it as their loss too and not trace the depositor/sender from their hidden camera?

The bankers shouldnt have even given you the chance to come to NL and share the story.

This can happen to anyone and it even rarely happens.

I witnessed this last in 2015(with one of the commercial banks) and i realised that some marketers covered the shame by returning 1k back to the affected customer.

Story ended there.

I'm afraid you have no proof that the fake money came from their ATM. Had it been that you noticed before leaving the premises and notifying the seciriity, maybe they would have done something about it. They are not liable for any error once you leave their premises. I've been short paid N2,500 from 3 withdrawals in first bank lagos island ATM. It was when I got home that I realised this, I just had to bear the loss because i had zero proof about the ATM activity. Had it been that I counted the money before leaving the ATM point, I would have notified the bank immediately. Sorry about your loss, May God replace it in multiples

OMG for real? I always count my money once I withdraw from ATM before leaving. That thing has always been a part of me. My Oga is always in a hurry to leave, asking what are u counting is it not the ATM that is dispensing the cash. From now I no stop counting ooo cheesy. Don't want to be shortchanged.

Maybe you should be mad a little. A friend once got fake naira note from ATM. He got to a supper market only to be told the money was fake. He was so embarrassed that he storm the bank screeming at top of his lungs. The money was change for him. They try telling him stories of how an ATM can never pay fake money but when he became uncontrollable, he was given a new one

It happens with all the banks. Last year, I went to UBA to make withdrawal. The total money I withdrew was 20k. When I got to the market to get few things few minutes later, one of the notes was discovered to be fake. I rushed back immediately to lodge a complaint. I was directed to the manager who was rude and claimed that the money was brought in from Agbara branch. She said there was nothing they would do since I did not call any security operative to complain immediately. That was how I lost money. Advice! Whenever you make withdrawal and a fake note is found, rush inside immediately and complain. It must be intentional by them.

By the way, who would volunteer to be your witness and would the bank even agree without saying the 2 of u have connive to deceive them.

Sorry bro, I just hope this doesn't happen to me. amen.

Bros sorry for the lost,

The reason why they said that is before ATM is load with cash they are always sorted and if the currency is fake it will be detected at that point before cash loading.
the person who loaded it is the criminal. He must have taken out some original cash to be replaced wit fake ones before putting them in the Atm.

Counting money after ATM machine have paid you is not a Nigeria tin. People will look you like Wetin e dey do ?. So no blame,... First bank too pay me fake 1 thousand naira. I withdraw about 700,000k, the bank people know, they just don't want to lost.

It is possible due to human error in sorting out cash. The bank Note counter error. Somebody spent the money to the bank too, so it goes back in a cycle.
Oga ekpele sir. Next time check the money. Trust no body on money issue, not even atm. Ire o!
Re: Fake 1000 Naira Note From Zenith Bank, Dutse Alhaji Branch In Abuja by davidtbom: 7:56am On Sep 08, 2017
It may not be fake... The ATMs are not configured to pay fake notes, but they are conditioned to detect fake notes....

Also, displaying the last four digits of your ATM Card number is not the best... You may want to consider that next time...

I have also learnt the bitter lesson to count right there. The atm was located right in the middle if island market where people where hovering, so counting 20, 20 and 10k in front of prying eyes
will not be so easy. I have the feeling that they did it on purpose because most people will be too nervous to be counting money in such open place or in a hurry to go shopping. I've learnt my lesson the hard way sha.

Zenith bank staff of late are now pple without integrity . they get the fake notes from outside smuggle them into the bank, exchange it with real notes when loading ATMs. And the costumers bears the brunt. The country has derailed from its track.

But when ATM over pays you and you go to back to inform the manager,he will not say it is imposible for ATM to overpay someone, they will be friendly to you and call you all good names. That is pure hypocrisy.
