7 Steps To Productivity - Excerpts From Eat That Frog by sexydale: 6:13pm On Sep 09, 2017
Since this administration got into power, the most recurring word in Nigeria's economic industry is recession. Many did not even know that this word exist until they were plunged into it. However, this ugliness is here among us and is threatening to cohabit with us for much longer than is necessary or required.

Hardship is bad - when viewed from an angle. But if viewed from other angles, it can be a tool of greatness. Many successful people in the world today have credited their success to a one time hardship, or deficiency, which prompted them into doing the extraordinary. Of course if everything were rosy, some of the great inventions in the world today wouldn't have been thought of, let alone brought to being.

Napoleon Hill, in his address said, "There is one quality that one must possess to win, and that is
definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants and a burning desire to achieve it."

To live above this evil called recession, you must be productive. To be productive, you must have a definite purpose. And definiteness of purpose requires clarity.

Here are the 7 steps of productivity according to Brian Tracy.

1. Decide what you want: The question to ask here is, what do I want to achieve? Everything that is done is preceded with a decision. You must see in your mind's eye what or where you want to be, before you begin to take actions.

2. Write it down: It is unfortunate that many people in this present generation find both reading and writing tedious. How this came to be is not far-fetched - with the advent of multimedia hitting from every angle -but a decision is only a wish (one of many possibilities) until it is written down; this time it becomes a plan.

3. Decide on a deadline: Fixing a date to the plan makes it realistic and achievable. In this stage, you have to answer the question of 'When do I want to achieve...?' NOTE: The deadline (date) must be realistic - something humanly possible. Inasmuch as it is encouraged to push oneself beyond limits, setting unrealistic deadline takes you away from the realm of reality to idealism. This in itself is against the law of productivity. You must push yourself, yes. But more importantly, you must know the boundaries and your limits (which of course changes with time).

4. Make a 'To-Do List' that can make the goal a reality: Now you have a goal - that is, a written plan with a deadline. Your goal is the destination, while your To-Do-List is your map or route to which you take to your destination. For example, if you want to be a published author by the end of the year, this is your goal. What to do to get the book written and published will be in your to-do-list.

5. Organise your list:
Your list must be organised in an order suitable to you.; but if writing a book is your goal, then you should know that writing the outline of the book will top the list.

6. Take action: Of course, if after knowing what to do, you do nothing, you are no different from the one who knows nothing. In the end, taking action is what brings you closer to achieving your goal. Note that, while you are in this stage, your plans may change, but the goal(s) does not change. So be fluid and flexible. Life may throw the unexpected at you and it can force you to alter your schedule, duck and continue. If the plans need a little fixing or addition, do so. Remember, the route might change, but the destination remains the same.

7. Resolve to do something every single day that moves you toward your major goal: This of course is self explanatory. You have 24hours every day. You must spend at least 6 hours of it doing something that moves you towards your goal. Hitting it big is not easy, but it is possible. Everyone is blessed with a mind so powerful, but not everyone uses this powerful tool of the mind to its full capacity. We are not all geniuses, but you can be productive, using what you have.
