What can somebody do to please Nigerians political wise, All this while Dora has been saying what the government asked her to say as the minister of information but now she has discovered they were covering up things and she stood against it. And now some people are criticizing her of been vocal, so what they are implying is that she should dance to the tone of the government and deceive people.

We all know what is going on in the presidency, how they smuggled Mr. President into the country and that he can not perform for now and equally how they are making serious arrangement to perpetuate him in power even at a state of coma. So what are we talking about, is this country in coma, to be ruled by a man in coma. For God's sake no body prayed for him not to recover but this country need to move forward.

Please tell me what somebody can then do to please this country political wise.
It is a pity, Gaint of Africa, I hail you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! angry sad shocked embarassed cry

Thank you oh ! My brother. Suddenly everyone is seeing Dora as the enemy. Nigerians don't simply deserve assistance a times. undecided

I  tire my brother. Even beneficiarries of her courage who were busy playing the ostrich have now found their tongues  and now acting holier than thou. The crisis her memo averted has been coveniently and suddenly forgotten. No wonder some people believe, even if erroneously, that Nigeria is not worth dying for. However I encourage her not to be discouraged because history will always vindicate those who did right when it was almost suicidal to do that.

People should just learn to say the truth all the time and every body will be pleased with them. Not taking from both sides of mouth like DORA.

Afterall, Late Gani please all most all of us by standing for the truth at all times.

Our sister disappointed me 1st by speaking from the both sides of her mouth.

for the 1st 60 days of Yar'adua's AWOL. she lied to us about him returning soon. Then she changed the story when she discovered something was seriously wrong with Yaradua. Wont she still be lieing to us for that for the leaked info. to her that something was wrong with yaradua?

I hate cheap opportunist, crazy media attention seekers, cheap hero wannabes even if the person is my parents.

I gladly accept your decision and wish u well.

Dora is not the type of hero i desired. She screwed up my faith and truth in her when she 'started rebranding dead woods'

Maybe you really need to read her interview before jumping into conclusions. It's here on NL. I could find the thread that is if you haven't already seen it.

Blind support indeed!!! As if I'm not reasonable enough sieve the wheat from the chaff. I know Dora from Adam . Many people like herself in government were not informed of the whereabouts of the president. The belief was that the president was on leave and he'll be back soon and Dora reported it so. What would you have said Madam if you were in her position? After 'soon' became eternity for the president's return, I expect every sane person to question the whereabouts of the president considering the fact that the country was in chaos. The stance Dora took after this, is not a reason for me to see her as a liar, two-faced or whatever derogatory name you may wish to open your mouth and call her. Not everyone seek for praise, there are people who have a passion for Nigeria.

And what is wrong in rebranding Nigeria? Aren't you tired of the bastardized image Nigeria depicts? What is wrong exposing our positive sides?

First I was one of those that voiced my slight discomfort at Dora's statement when she said "The president was stolen into the country in the dead of the night" . Sometimes even for good jobs like this there has to be some moderation.

However I am greatly  pained  that someone would summarise Dora's contributions in this UMYA saga the way you have done. Ha make we fear God na. Yes some of us did not really like her before this drama started but that should not colour our appraisal of the journey so far.

Dora in the first 60 days was only displaying official optimism as required of her office , expecially when the only source of information then  on UMYA was his cabinet core loyalists who had painted a picture of hope based on reports they got. Even the press was fooled then.

She was forced to stake all and voice her opinion when it was glaring that the nation was heading towards chaos. If a woman  advanced past all the cowardly/silent majority(men) and made moves that hastened the strides of  the rather hesistant NASS and you call that cheap oppotunism? OMG

Dora quite know the implications of what she did, that in the worst case it could cost her life. If she did all these just to listen to her inner voice of reason at the risk of everything, and you call that cheap? ABEG TELL US WHAT COSTLY OPPORTUNISM LOOKS LIKE? ABEG.

I would have even supported her more, if she has continued the lieing game, than turning back when she discovered that power was about changing hands, so that she can sell herself into the heart of the new govt.

While i understand your disapproval of her, i still think you should read the transcript of her interview. I also shared your views about her being "two-faced". After reading the interview transcript i was able to somewhat understand her rational - note that I do not entirely agree with her handling of our "missing/ailing president crisis" as information minister. What I took away from her interview is that most Yaradua's "blind" supporters aren't either concerned about this country's progress or lack-of or they are simply ignorant of the effect of recent presidency upheavals.

if after reading the transcript you don't buy her explanation you might at least find that she is about the only member of the FEC that has a "little" conscience - of course, whether her "little" conscience is acceptable/sufficient is another million dollar question. smiley

See interview transcript link below - though it's a little long, it might still be worth while considering you care enough as your preceding posts suggest.

Don't care if she's from your state. It doesn't uplift you, neither does it degrade you. You still don't get it. This is NOT lying at all. Nobody was given the details of the president's status. An Advisor to the president informed her in minute details of the president's state and that was what she reported. This is a scenaro of this is what I was told and I'm informing the public. What else would she report if not what she was told? Besides, who at the early stages of Yaradua's disappearance would think it would take this long before he returned considering the fact that this is not the first time Yaradua would take a trip to Saudi Arabia while in office. Even if she/we thought it, why should we jump into conclusions without facts? Like a rational human being that she was Dora questioned what she was told, the government and herself. As I said not everyone do things for the sake of power, or selling themselves into the heart of a new government. This woman is not an illiterate. She would have thought about the consequences of her actions before uttering a word. I don't think a Nigerian woman would risk her LIFE for ordinary publicity that you are ever ready to scream about. This is a country where Bola Ige, Rotimi Williams and co were murdered and we are yet to bring the culprits to book, because of politics. After putting all these in mind I do not believe cheap publicity is what this woman is campaigning for. The odds for speaking out were and atill are against her, so tell how will this situation suit her when it has outrightly placed her life in danger?

The way a message is passed across determines if the person was/is lying or not.
When she was given the report, she could have said it then, like it was a report, not like she knew what she was saying.

She could have made all the noise longer than now.

I have said it many times its part 2> ''GELEDES (masquerade) DANCE OF DEATH'' the cabal is negotiating presently for a way out of the logjam they created so their footsoldiers at the NASS are showing their scripted dance steps! Akunyili is a threat to their plans so they want her out cos shes not willing to play their game, i hope jonathan will not succumb to their wishes. And so the dance continues, watch out for more, 4rm the National Association of the Stupid and the Sick!

I think with people still reasoning like you do, Nigeria is surely in serious trouble because the effort of people trying to make things better
will always be in futility. Some people only praise others while they are dead like people do Gani Fawehinmi now. Meanwhile, same people
never voted him when he contested for the presidency.

And what do you mean by this statement? Did she say she went to SAUDI to see UMYA.  So you dont know that she was speaking publicly on the basis of reports she received and from sources she did not have reasons not to beleive then. As an information minister her initial reaction was spot on. She had a responsibility to calm everyone and douse tension. She only reacted when the games the CABAL was playing became clear to her. She simply chose the difficult path of not allowing herself be a part of those , history will record as having passed a dying president healthy.

So in reporting matters of state an information minister should apply this your pattern? grin grin grin grin

At best what you hear from an office like hers is "reports reaching us suggest that . . . . . . . " thats it.

which kind "my father told me to tell u . . . . . " style? reporting state matters especially at national level is not as simplistic as u see it.

When she discovered that the source was only lying she reacted appropriately.
