Abuse Of Power & Civillian Oppression; A Nigerian Factor? by klandestine(m): 9:10am On Sep 27, 2017
In a society where those with power prey on the weak and the wealthy flaunt their affluence for all to see. Oppression becomes the order of the day. So many instances have situations occurred with an enforcement agency seen to use their power to have their way and bully the system with which they have been tasked/mandated to protect and uphold.

Such was the case of the events that occurred at 2 Enogie street Ogbeson quarters, Ikpoba Hill Benin City, Edo state between a member of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Amos Ogboin and an individual identified simply as Momoh. The individual believed to be a staff of the Electricity utility company in the state had gone about his activities of checking on customers within his network to ensure payment compliance of electricity bills on energy consumed happened to come about the above premises of said customer Amos ogboin who had a debt of #76,130.00 (seventy-six thousand, one hundred and thirty naira only) after serving proper notice but all fell on deaf ears of the customer, Momoh went ahead to disconnect the premises.

Amos Ogboin being a member of the Nigeria Police Force but stationed in Ughelli, Delta state on returning back to Benin decided to take laws into his hands, he took surveillance of Momoh and tracked him to where he was working and laid ambush by arresting him while going about his lawful duty. It is alleged that Momoh is still locked up till today.
This is abuse of power, even if he was disconnected wrongly is that enough reason to arrest and lock a tax paying citizen? It shows that some of our Police officers have no regard for the law and take matters into their hands with the belief that “nothing dey happen”
We use this medium to call on concerned individuals, the Nigeria Police Force, even the utility company BEDC to look into this matter and help an innocent man. This may be your Father, Brother, Son, Husband or friend. What is wrong is wrong, lets share our voice till something is done and Momoh is released. We still believe Police is meant to be your friend not your hater

Association of Concerned Persons (AOCP)

This is horrible and should be taken up with utmost seriousness require. The police command should be notified and necessary investigation carried out.
