Now, it’s one thing to recover your missing car — authorities have many resources available to them for finding a lost or stolen vehicle. And of course one can always find it by happenstance.

But it’s an entirely different thing to not only find the vehicle underwater but completely covered in clams!

In 1994, Ronald and Cathy Frank’s beloved Honda Accord went missing.

They went to the authorities and reported the car stolen.

They waited to see if any sign of their Accord turned up but none did.

Until about a year later, when a scuba diver was exploring the Mohawk River and discovered a car at the bottom of the river.

The car had become overrun with bass and clams.

The Franks had no idea this was their car though because, as you’ll see in the video below, the car had really become one with the clam infestation!

But 23 years later, long after the car had been removed from the river, the Franks finally learned the truth.

In a joint venture with the police and the DMV, they discovered that underneath the odd-looking clam nest was indeed the Franks’ old Accord!

“In spite of the clams…it was out car!” Ronald said.
