According to the above report, Two years later, we are still working on resuscitation. Ain't that grand? Here's hoping that if we do invest the extra 83 billion, we make it all back . |

N83bn is a little over 3% of our recurrent expenditure of N2,400bn N83bn is less than 10% of Nigeria's N929bn security budget N83bn is less than 15% of our N560bn debt servicing N83bn is a little under 21% of our N398bn statutory transfer budget Well, who needs a steel industry or jobs. After all the huge amounts we are spending on security means we are safe and secure, the budget servicing means we have capacity to borrow more and the statutory transfer allocations means the National Assembly and similar bodies are doing just fine. Take it or leave it, Steel Industry cannot work in Nigeria. Reason being that steel industry depends on efficient means of transporting raw materials and finished products. Build or complete all rail lines linking Itakpe to the steel mills, Or dredge the Escravos River to allow for massive importation of raw materials at the DSC. The case of 117 Indians, has proved the steel industry in Nigeria can never work with out adequate supporting transport infrastructure. |
