A vigilante member in Katsina state has killed himself with a Dane gun while testing a "gum charm" on himself.

The Katsina Police Command made the disclosure on Monday and said the deceased, Audu Maikare, hailed from Samaila Rabiu in Dugul in Matazu area of the State.

The police said they got wind of the development and rushed to the village only to meet Audu dead.

“When the police patrol team got the information on the incident and rushed to the village, Maikare had already died and taken away by his relatives for burial,’’ the Police statement read.

The force, therefore, advised people to stop patronising fortune-tellers who often demand criminal acts from their clients.

“They are the ones who give local charms to their clients for ritual purposes in their quest for materialism and worldly things.

“Sometimes, in the process they demand people to commit crimes like murder and rape,’’ the statement said.
