Windows Mixed Reality is a platform developed by Microsoft, although it was formerly known as Windows Holographic. Microsoft’s Windows Mixed Reality tends to be confusing when comparing it with Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) because people don’t see the difference but just a mixed up of terms.

Anyways, Windows Mixed Reality officially comes with the Windows 10 Fall Creators update.This makes Mixed Reality a part of Windows 10 henceforth. The best part is that Microsoft launched an app to help check if your PC supports Windows Mixed Reality. Microsoft calls the app Windows Mixed Reality PC Check and it’s available in Windows store.

Once you download and install the Windows Mixed Reality PC check app, you can go ahead and run it. Click the ‘I Agree’ button and viola! A screen will be shown to you listing PC hardware components which are supported by Windows Mixed Reality. It is worth knowing that Windows Mixed Reality is divided into two platforms. The first is "Windows Mixed Reality" and the other "Windows Mixed Reality Ultra." They differ by the kind of hardware which is supported.

Windows Mixed Reality supports nothing less than an Intel Core i5-7200U, HDMI 1.4 or DisplayPort 1.2, and Intel HD Graphics 620 or greater or Nvidia MX150 discrete GPU or Nvidia 965M discrete GPU. Windows Mixed Reality Ultra requires Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or better; HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2; NVidia GTX 960/1050 or AMD RX 460/560 or greater.

Windows Mixed Reality & Windows Mixed Reality Ultra also has similar hardware configuration requirements. They are 8GB of DDR3 memory (RAM), 10GB internal storage, USB 3.0 Type-A or Type-C, and Bluetooth 4.0.
