Fighter Pilot: did you attend military academy of police college ? an army's war success is first measured by the amount of territory it controls relative to that of the enemy. in world war II France was recorded in history as defeated because its army was operating like boko haram from inside the bush while Germany's army was occupying the whole of France and Germany was declared the winner despite regular attacks by French army and militia (Called partisans or resistance) on the German army bases. only a loser runs away in war and plays hide and seek, hit and run. if you have the power, you show your face big time ! . |

Fighter Pilot: I live in America and i have better CNN or BBC information that you have in far away south africa. by the way, was the CNN or BBC correspondent present on the battlefield when boko haram attacked at 3 AM dead dark night ? last time i checked, America and EU have withdrawn all their official personnel from nothenr nigeria long time ago, so did they use witchcraft spiritual powers to see a battle 7,000 km away ? south africans dont think, its so easy to fool you guys around . |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 9:33am On Dec 28, 2013 |
Fighter Pilot: you are not intelligent enough to observe that CNN and BBC news is more detailed online than on TV, the online has full stories of every news they read on TV and can be accessed even months after it was read from the online archives. if you cannot find a story in online archives, they did not broadcast it on TV. that is the principle of new media for CNN and BBC. do you live in a village in south africa ? |

ckkris: Boko Haram is no longer in Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa. Nigerian Forces are effectively routing them, in spite of enormous financial resources available to them, to use them to keep Nigeria so permanently impoverished as to depend on other nations, and be instructed about on what to do, and what not to do. Nigeria will ERADICATE BOKO HARAM. Does it matter where are they? The fact is they are killing people under the nose of those you refer as the second most powerful army in Africa. Is this not a hypocrisy? |

agaugust: What matters the most is the harm that they effect upon your men. Tell your military to contain them such that when the BH see them they should just run away and be seen no more. Thats what we can deduce as 90% defeat. |

The second most powerful military in Africa has defeated terrorism out of it's boarders without foreign assistance and you don't think that is commendable. Just imagine if Cameroon grows some balls or permits us to attack boko haram camps on their soil. Guy, grow some brain abeg |

Fighter Pilot: your low level of military training in south africa does not teach you how islamic terrorists operate ? see what happened in kenyan shopping mall just few months ago. if boko haram captured wives and children of nigerian soldiers, they would parade them in a video and show it on Aljazeera TV. next is that they will demand for ransome payment or release of boko haram leaders in army/police detention. islamic terrorists dont get valuable hostages and still keep quiet getting beaten blue black without using the hostages as a bargaining tool. boko boys kidnapped ordinary villagers. if they have soldiers wives/kids, let them display them on video and post it to Aljazeera as usual. hey mister, with the way you think, you will the worst performing military intelligence and investigation officer that the world has ever produced. . |

Fighter Pilot: Did you just assume that Islamic jihadists are afraid to die for their course? You are an imposter. Don't ever claim to be in the military please. You are a fake. No matter how they are being killed, they will keep attacking cos it is their belief to die not live. Olodo |

Fighter Pilot: you are one of those black Africans who see America as the heaven no one else can go to and live in. You can even use the shi.t of an American as body cream! Dont worry, i know your type. It is called colonial/slave mentality. But in your own case, the slave mentality is worse thanks to Apartheid that denied you quality life and told you skyscrappers arent meant for you to live in. FYI, Nigeria has the second largest diaspora in the world behind India. And no, nothing is wrong with our country. It is just the culture of Nigerians especially Igbo to travel out and explore. You guys dont have the money to leave your Soweto republic if not, you would have deserted your Moosanzi 1 Like |

South Africa love their country dearly that they wouldnt go around adopting citizenship of other countries. For your info, i have also been to America on many occassions. |

CAMNEWTON4PRES: Naija police budget indeed, the same policemen who sleep in toilets? We saw how your school police looks like ? We saw how your soldiers were fighting over fish's head , bottom line your army and police are ill equipped and ill trained, they are useless to say the least and can't win even a wresting match against us talk less about a war, we will simply destroy everything . careful when you throw stones; Your countries GDP and GDP / capita is less than ours: http://www.google.com.ng/publicdata/explore?ds=d5bncppjof8f9_&met_y=ny_gdp_mktp_cd&hl=en&dl=en&idim=country:CMR:GHA:SEN#!ctype=l&strail=false&bcs=d&nselm=h&met_y=ny_gdp_mktp_cd&scale_y=lin&ind_y=false&rdim=region&idim=country:CMR:NGA:KEN:SDN:ETH:AGO:GHA&ifdim=region&hl=en_US&dl=en&ind=false http://www.google.com.ng/publicdata/explore?ds=d5bncppjof8f9_&met_y=ny_gdp_mktp_cd&hl=en&dl=en&idim=country:CMR:GHA:SEN#!ctype=l&strail=false&bcs=d&nselm=h&met_y=ny_gdp_pcap_cd&scale_y=lin&ind_y=false&rdim=region&idim=country:CMR:NGA:KEN:ETH:GHA&ifdim=region&hl=en_US&dl=en&ind=false Infact your GDP is less than Lagos. Your GDP growth rate is less than Nigeria's. Your foreign reserves is less than a 10th of ours. http://www.indexmundi.com/cameroon/reserves_of_foreign_exchange_and_gold.html And your Armed Forces? ARMY "The General Headquarter Brigade, located in Yaoundé. This brigade is responsible for protecting the capital and supporting the institutions. The President of the Republic has to allow any of its deployments." "Three command and support battalions;" "The Rapid Intervention Brigade, (which currently has no general staff) and is made up of three rapid intervention battalions, stationed in Doula, Tiko and Koutaba. These three battalions are respectively the Bataillon Special Amphibie (BSA), the Bataillon des Troupes Aeroportees (BTAP) and the Bataillon Blinde de Reconnaissance (BBR). The BSA is inspired by the French Special Forces. This brigade is a tactical battle unit under the authority of the Chief of Staff of the armed forces. For this to be engaged, the President’s agreement is necessary. Amongst its three battalions, only the BTAP is operational;" "Five motorised infantry brigades, supposed to be stationed in one military sector but which can then be engaged without any regard to the territorial division of the country. These brigades currently do not have a general staff. In theory, they consist of 11 motorised infantry battalions; 5 support battalions and 3 backing battalions; however, the motorised battalions are in reality not operational due to a lack of staff, equipment and vehicles." "Three rapid intervention battalions, the so-called BIR Navy: Latest estimates indicate naval strength consists of two combat patrol vessels, three coastal patrol vessels and approximately 30 smaller inshore and river patrol craft allocated to both the navy and the local gendarmerie. These include two 135 tonne Yunnan-class landing craft, which are able to carry and launch smaller craft for troop insertions. Some effort has been made to assess equipment needs to bring L'Audacieux P103 and Bakassi P104 to an effective combat status. This has resulted in weapons capabilities being reduced in favour of an increase in serviceability and the service is now effectively without missile attack capabilities. Bakassi (a Type P 48S missile patrol craft) completed a major refit at Lorient, France in August 1999. This included removing the Exocet missile system and EW equipment, and fitting a funnel aft of the mainmast to replace the waterline exhausts. New radars were also installed. Bakassi is now armed only with 40 mm cannon. Although the Bizerte (P48 large patrol craft) class L'Audacieux is fitted for SS-12M missiles these are not embarked and its operational status is in some doubt, having not been reported at sea since 1995. The Quartier-Maître Alfred Moto patrol boat was listed as out of service in 1991 but has since been reactivated. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cameroonian_Armed_Forces Air force: The Cameroon Air Force (Armée de l'Air du Cameroun) theoretically possesses a fairly well balanced force of relatively unsophisticated aircraft, although many of these are now ageing and serviceability levels are likely to be low. Emphasis is placed on transport and utility operations in support of ground forces. Combat capability is modest and restricted to a few armed trainers that can be used for ground attack, COIN and close air support roles. Six Atlas Impala jet trainers purchased from South Africa in 1997 had a lengthy gestation period before becoming operational and did not enter service until late 1998. None of the Impalas are currently in service. Apart from a few ultralight aircraft, these are the most recent additions to the inventory. Cameroon's air arm lacks training aircraft and has also experienced a significant decline in transport assets, most recently involving the 2001 grounding of the remaining three DHC-5D Buffalo aircraft. The air force includes three main aerial bases, in Yaoundé, Douala, and Garoua. The air force staff is divided between these three bases, located within each military region. The Yaoundé base is a helicopter and liaison platform; the Douala base is a logistical and tactical transport platform; the Garoua base is an attack and training platform. The first two bases are timeworn. There are no stopping systems, no radio-navigation installations, and no lighting apparatus. No major investment has been made for a long time. The Garoua base is the more modern and the best equipped and "conforms" to NATO standards having been built by the Germans, following an invitation to tender. The PANVR[1] (Pole Aeronautique National a Vocation Regionale) is located on this base. Large aeroplanes can land easily on this base. However, the site is not well maintained. The Koutaba aerodrome is home to the Bataillon des Troupes Aeroportees (BTAP). Finally, the Bamenda aerodrome could become a fourth aerial base, with the stationing of the airborne rifle commandos (fusiliers commando de l’air – BAFUSCO AIR): currently 60 people under the command of a lieutenant colonel assisted by eight officers work at the site. Such a deployment is large by Cameroonian standards. Currently, the air force has 6 Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jets (2 are currently inoperable) as attack aircraft; 3 Lockheed C-130 Hercules and 1 Aérospatiale SA 330 Puma transport aircraft, 1 Piper PA-23, 1 Aérospatiale Alouette II, 2 Joker 300, 7 Humbert Tétras for training and 2 Bell 206 as observation and liaison aircraft. The independently operated Presidential aerial squadron has 1 Grumman Gulfstream III, 1 Aérospatiale Dauphin and 1 Aérospatiale Super Puma, which are not part of air force equipment. Maintenance of aircraft of this squadron is better than for those of the air force.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cameroon_Air_Force 2 Likes |

Fighter Pilot: Let me ask you something. And please be honest with your response. When SA military was at it's best during the apartheid. The ANC was their headache right? They fought the ANC to the extent of invading their neighbors to neutralize ANC camps and leadership which even prompted an all out war. Did that stop the ANC from attacking the military? NO You can't defeat ideology with guns. You can only control it'a effect. Or else why is the Taliban still fully operational with the presence of the best militaries in the world with state of the art counter terrorist weaponry? Let's even come home to Algeria. (1st country in Africa to chase terrorism out of their boarders without help). Has AQIM stopped attacking till date? NO Talk like an experienced soldier please. Not the dunce you sound like right now. 1 Like |
