That link says nothing about the Nigerian military having data links

South Africa has an integrated info centric data link that crosses all arms (navy, airforce and army) - linkza

Which means that the SANDF has, if you will, a hive mind

Nigeria has no major data link
99.9% of Nigerian units, weapons, vehicles, aircraft and vessels have no data link whatsoever

How dare tell us about spy plane that has dismally failed to locate missing girls. How dare be proud of satellites and spy ballon when your military had to ask for international assistance......WHY POSSESS SUCH EQUIPMENT WHEN YOUR ARMY CANNOT EVEN USED SUCCESSFUL?

The answer: Your military is unprofessional, unsophisticated, lack advance technology, lack professionalism, confused and outright incompetent.

THE BIG BROTHER HAS SPOKEN:

Nigerian military uncooperative, slow to learn –US

The human rights abuse record and uncooperative attitude of the Federal Government and its military authorities have been identified as factors hindering United States of America offering Nigeria effective security assistance. Speaking on Thursday before the US House Foreign Affairs Sub-committee on Africa’s hearing entitled, ‘Human Rights Vetting: Nigeria and Beyond’, the Specialist at African Affairs Congressional Research Service, Lauren Blanchard, said the Nigerian government and its military had not been yielding to America’s suggestions.

The Congress heard that the main impediment to America’s efforts to support Nigeria’s broader response to Boko Haram is “gross violations
committed by the Nigerian forces, the Nigerian government’s resistance to adopting a more comprehensive approach to Boko Haram, and the
continued lack of political will” within the government to investigate allegations of human rights abuses and hold perpetrators accountable.

Blanchard told the Congress, “The Nigerian government also has appeared reticent in some cases to allow its security forces to participate in
US training programmes. The State Department indicates that there are currently 187 Nigerian military units and 173 police units that have
been vetted and cleared to receive U.S. assistance and training.

“It is unclear whether the Nigerian government has given approval for such training to occur. A 2013 State Department audit report noted that,
in addition to human rights concerns, Nigeria’s late submission of names of candidates for assistance was a ‘recurring problem’ for the US
embassy.

“Multiple systemic factors further constrain the effectiveness of the Nigerian security force’s response to Boko Haram, notably security sector
corruption and mismanagement, and some of these factors impede US support even for units that have been cleared for assistance”.

Among the cleared units, she revealed, were Nigeria’s Speed Boat Service commando and the 101st Infantry Battalion, which the ACRS
specialist said were best positioned to conduct hostage rescue operations, but “both reportedly require significant additional training”.

She added that the security relationship between Nigeria and the US was hampered by the lack of cooperation and systemic failure in Nigeria.
“The security relationship also has been hampered at times by a lack of cooperation from Nigerian officials and by systemic problems in
the Nigerian military. Political and human rights concerns have been a prominent factor in shaping US-Nigeria relations for decades.

“State Department human rights reports have continued to highlight serious human rights violations by the Nigerian security forces every
year. These violations include politically motivated and extrajudicial killings, excessive use of force, and torture,” Blanchard said at the
hearing.

Despite about N1trn ($5.8b) security budget, the ACRS specialist said the “Nigerian troops are not adequately resourced or equipped” to counter Boko Haram insurgency. During the hearing, the American disclosed that the troops were “slow to adapt with new strategies, new doctrines and new tactics,” and described Nigeria as “an extremely challenging partner to work with.”

MikeZA: The people responsible will be held accountable and will forced to the courts to explain why.

Do soldiers in your army even have ration packs?

@ MikeZA
Now i know you don't even understand what a war is. LOL
So if you hold a remote location belonging to the enemy in battle, your troops will refuse to stay there if Air-conditioned cabins are not flown in and your XO's will be court marshalled? LMAO. You are cracking me up,no wonder you fled CAR. Do you think war is one sided? Do you think it is a game? War is not what we saw in Iraq or Afghanistan, cause the U.S. did not win any of the conflicts there. They couldn't force a peace unlike the NA in liberia and sierra-leone. We know to win a war you have to be prepared to live, fight and defeat the enemy in the same environment as he.
Lesson for the SALOANDF to learn from LOL.

Yesterday's admission by a top military official that the cash-strapped defence force might have to retrench personnel and shelve critical acquisition projects should jolt our political leaders into action.

according to the secretary of defence, Sam Gulube, a R 1.1-billion budget shortfall means that the SANDF might have to undertake a major cost-cutting exercise if it is going to continue paying salaries.

Gulube warned that the cash crunch meant the defence force might be forced to cut down on operations and acquisitions, and that various options were being considered, including downsizing personnel numbers, freezing vacant posts and extending working hours.

Military analysts have warned that cutting staff and scrapping the acquisition of essential military hardware such as heavy-lift and maritime patrol aircraft - some of the latter in service since World War2 shocked - would reduce our soldiers to the role of border guards. grin grin

The 2014 SA Defence Review, approved by the cabinet in March, warned of the critical decline of the armed forces due to ''neglect, lack of proper ammunition and ageing aircraft''.

Rheinmetall is looking to establish a Development Centre in South Africa to develop munitions for various international clients and is currently in talks with a potential launch customer.

The purpose of the Rheinmetall Development Centre is to develop munitions ranging from grenades, mortars and artillery shells to rockets and other munitions. “We have requirements to develop ammunition from various users,” Rheinmetall Denel CEO Norbert Schulze said in explaining the idea behind the centre.

Italian oil giant, Eni SpA, is making efforts to boost Angola’s crude oil output with over 129,000 barrels a day, a development that may see the country surpassing Nigeria in oil production.

Reports indicate that Eni had upgraded a production vessel for new pumping this year as the south-west African country targets output rivalling its bigger competitor, Nigeria.

@Thiza You South Africans keep on telling me that your country not only has the best military but that you also apparently are the best country on the continent, if that is true why is it that in all these rubbish training photos you insist on posting in this thread, 95% of the generals, air force pilots, field marshals, admirals and submarine captains are all white people from Holland and England? I even see little white girls flying your aircraft undecided, but yet 99.5% of the actual soldiers that risk their lives in training exercises everyday are the actual South AFRICANS aka blacks, how can it be possible that the whites make up 95% of the SA military leadership when they only make up 9% of your land? Is it because the majority of South Africans are uneducated tea makers that live in dirty shacks while the descendants of the European invaders all live in the wealthy neighborhoods with the best schools and the best healthcare? How can this be so, didn't Mandela destroy the apartheid regime with his Xhosa superpowers? I thought SA was the best country in the whole of Africa? Please explain...

South Africa is 20 years old and still undergoing transformation on some sectors of the society but a question is....ARE WHITE NOT SOUTH AFRICA and entitled to the same benefits and opportunities. South African constitution indicates that the country belongs to all who live in it black and white. As far as I am concern there is no problem in racial composition of the society unless Nairas whant to brew a storm in the tea cup.

To pose a responding question why Nigeria keeps sending its own officers to be trained in Europe, US, India, Russia, Pakistan and China IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM ABOUT WHITE PEOPLE AND WHY ALL YOUR MILITARY HARDWARE INCLUDING THE 40 HELICOPTERS YOU ARE PROUD ABOUT IS COMING FROM WHITE COUNTRIES AND LASTLY WHY NIGERIANS PREFER TO RESIDE IN EUROPE, US AND SOUTH AFRICA.

WHY MOST OF THE EDUCATED NIGERIANS EMIGRATE ABROAD FOR BETTER LIFE?BY THE WAY THESE PEOPLE INCLUDES @AUGUSTUS

South Africa has NO training missiles for its Gripen jets, so if you ever fire any missile in training, it will reduce your only 25 IRIS-T missiles to how many...15 missiles ? Nigeria has more missiles than South Africa, we have 20 PL-9C and over 100 PL-5/Atoll missiles for our F-7 jets.
