Had my biometrics and data capture done at the Nigeria High Commission today and I was very surprised with how well it all went. Apart from having to queue outside (in the rain), the experience far exceeded my expectations. Spent 30 minutes outside and exactly 1 hour inside. Got there about 8:30am and left at 10. No one was rude to me, maybe because I didn’t need any “assistance” and followed all instructions. Excepting delivery of my shiny green passport by 28th of May, even though they said to expect from 14th of June. All the best to those still awaiting their turn. You will soon receive the invite. My 10 months wait is finally over, just in time for the summer holidays and end of lockdown. Sunny Portugal, here I come!

While you are still in your current occupation, still be searching for other jobs online with better salaries and then you’ll see the requirements. Then you’ll know what you have and what you don’t have. That’s how you’ll go about it. Apply for jobs even if you get rejected still keep applying, someone somewhere might need what you currently have and will train/ develop you into whatever there business goal is.

Buying a car is the simplest of your worries.
In Uk before you drive,
you’ll need to buy car insurance, tax you car, updated MOT certificate and so on.
Driving a car in London is very expensive putting into account congestion charge, paying for parking and the new ULEZ.
Most places in London has either train, tube or bus services so you don’t really need a car. But if you are desperate you can still buy you 2021 Lexusgs430

I think Band 5, which is the entry level for nurses, is about 25k p.a.

Or was before the 1% in England and the other increases in Scotland and Wales.

Actually, in a country where public transport works quite well and takes you virtually everywhere you want or need to go in virtually all cities, this is quite seldom the case.

In the line of work you are in, it's steady, steady, climb the ladder step by step. No sudden jumps in pay.
if you really wanted something lucrative, you'd have to go back to school for quite a while and pay some good money in the process. Think radiography, for instance.

If you have your Original 9ja DL, you have one year from stamped entry on your PP (make sure you declare type of licence, during insurance quote).......

If you don't have your 9ja DL, apply for a provisional licence, start reading for your oral driving licence (I think that's what it's called), pass that test. Book some lessons with a driving instructor (your 9ja bad driving habits, needs to be flogged out of you), pass your driving test, then buy a car.........

If your driving documents are not complete, DON'T let the DEVIL lie to you...... DON'T BUY A CAR & START DRIVING..........

Try googling ‘driving in the UK’ for basic info, then you can come back here to ask specific questions if you still want to go ahead right now.

Unless you have a family and you need the car to move the kids around or share the ride with your partner, you may be better served maximising the very good public transportation available here, which I hear is the best in the world. Having a car is very expensive, especially if it’s a non-earning asset, but if it’s required for your work, family, etc., by all means, go for it! Otherwise, chill, jump on those trains and buses, learn to also leg it (I hear walking is actually a very good thing - who would have thought?), save a lot of that money, buy your own house first (why not?), before thinking of buying a car - unpopular opinion, I know.

I hear the annual cost of insurance alone will buy you a tear rubber Lexusgs430 . Add to that the prohibitive cost of fuel, MOT, road tax, etc., and if you are lucky enough to live in Greater London, God help you with Sadiq’s ULEZ and other related charges, congestion charge, etc., cost of a provisional licence, theory test, driving lessons, practical test, full licence, etc. Read up and let us know if you still want to buy a car now.
