Fifty-eight Nigerians deported from Khartoum, Sudan were flown back home on Wednesday through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, aboard an Air Libya flight.

A source at the Nigeria Immigration Service told the News Agency of Nigeria that the deportees comprised eight males, 41 females and nine minors.

The source, who spoke under anonymity, said the deportees were escorted back to Nigeria by five Sudanese policemen.

He added that the Nigerians were sent home for offences ranging from overstaying in the country, possession of irregular travel documents and involvement in crime.

The source said the deportees had been released to their families.

It was gathered that some of the deportees were also involved in street begging.

NAN reports that 85 Nigerians had earlier been deported from the United Kingdom on March 12; 58 others from Dublin, Republic of Ireland on February 15; and 28 from Trinidad and Tobago on March 19.

already someone is blaming the nigerian government

this isn't the nigerian government getting deported, it's nigerians.

there's nothing the nigerian government has done bad that the sudanese one hasn't done worst in an attempt to kill all blacks in their country.
but nigerians still found reason to go there instead of going to at least lagos and applying for jobs like a human being.

its embarrassing, but we should REALLY stop reporting in our news outlets who gets deported from what country.
i have never heard, in all my years of watching american news, about americans getting deported.

americans get deported every day, but it's not news. you can't honestly live in a country od 150 million ppl and report every single time one of them gets deported.

Why wont i blame the governement, if the country is how it should be, will you be in US, studying or doing whatever you are there for. You compare urself with the US how many of their youth leave US aimlessly like Nigerian youth that the situation of the country are forcing into compulsory exile. The last time i visited Nigerian, u cant imagin the number yout(graduates) that jst wanna excape the situation in that country. The last time i checked what is forcing these youths out of Nigeria was the high rate of unemployement in the country. So who am i to blame for that?

Re: 58 Nigerians Deported From Sudan by alias64: 10:19am On Mar 25, 2010
[b]Nigerians should travel wherever they want in search of work. There will never come a time no mater how wealthy Nigeria becomes or how well organised when all Nigerians will stay in Nigeria for work or pleasure. Neither is it desirable that they should do so. We’r not prisoners restricted to Nigeria. In addition, however some people abroad desperately would like to contain Nigerians by exploiting our dangerous self-stereotyping which was born out of political games, for their racist purpose, Nigerians will travel.  Ikengawo made the point that Americans are deported from various lands all the time and the point he made remains salient. American youths do travel in search of work in foreign climes; the comparative extent is irrelevant to Ikengawo’s point.  I would add that Indians and Chinese travel all over the world in search of work, in even greater numbers, even in search of better life, why shouldn’t Nigerians. We’re not prisoners nor should we try to beat ourselves into the portrait of the good little boys and girls the west wants. See fig 1.2

                                                                                                     fig 1.2

As for Sudan, people should bear in mind that many of the Nigerians who travel to that country are from northern Nigeria. I do not mean that this justifies any illegal Sudanese acts against them but that like Somalis and many Africans of the Islamic faith throughout Africa, Sudan and the middle east and even as far as Iran provides a major point of destination. African Muslims appear to hold to the idea - far more than is good for them - that all Muslims are brothers. I have read that Sudanese have a derogatory term exclusively for our Nigerians which translates as slaves.

Re: 58 Nigerians Deported From Sudan by Thor(m): 10:29am On Mar 25, 2010
That is a typical stupid statement. Nigerians are not free to go wherever they want, only in Nigeria. They do not have any rights in other countries unless they follow that countries visa application / entry regulations. So many Nigerians abuse the system it makes it bad for honest Nigerians to gain entry.

Nigerians men are typically lazy and even when they are in another country legally or illegally they tend to scam, con and hussle their ways through life. NO COUNTRY NEEDS THESE TYPE OF PEOPLE angry angry angry

So, grow up people and try and play by the rules. If not stay out, you are not welcome lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

Oh well silly me for thinking that all are smart enough to take it for granted that in travelling abroad there are issues of passports, papers, taxi calling, inoculations, airports, aeroplanes, visas and all the paraphernalia that one dose not have to state categorically or he/she will end up writing a whole book.

For a war torn country to b deporting Nigerians it simply means that Nigeria has unconscioiusly been fighting a more devastating war day-by-day. For Nigerians to b seeking asylum in Sudan!!!. it is a signal for the once seeking asylum in Hell, that Lucifer will start to deport them back from Hell Fire.

Re: 58 Nigerians Deported From Sudan by Nobody: 1:10pm On Mar 25, 2010
deportation is a sign of increased global mobility.EVERY country deports,no matter how poor the country is.

The poorest country can also deport citizens of the richest countries, once they breach immigration rules. That doesnt have any negative bearing on the countries involved
Re: 58 Nigerians Deported From Sudan by Shoot2Kill: 1:17pm On Mar 25, 2010
The government and the citizens are to blame. With so many educated people in Nigeria, nobody wants to, mobilize and cripple the corrupt government. Look at the current situation in Nigerian. Ethnically blinded ND people are supporting Jonathan because he comes from ND even though he is clearly corrupt and extremely, emphasis on extremely incompetent to rule the nation.

I will always say this and i know my wish will come true one day, all these corrupt politicians will meet an untimely death and Nigerians will become free.

I have be seen this issue of deportation on and on and see how people reacted to this kind of news but my most surprise is that so many keep on blaming our citizen in those countries deporting that, why are they(Nigerians) doing  there? what are they looking for and so on? Pls get a better understanding migration is long time issue every citzen of the world migrated if American can live in Somalia, if Briton can live in Afghanistan, if Canadian can live Jordan, if French can live in Algeria and so also so many foreigners in Nigeria so for me I have no reason to be blaming the unfortunate people for been deported I only blame the government of Nigeria and the so called Sudaness government for their intollerance. To be frank indeed Nigeria we are too nice people if we have to pay all these countries back same way they treated our citizens you will realise there are thousands of their citizen in every part of Nigeria going about untouch infact unoticed so what are they talking about? Sudan of all people deporting Nigerians.

Sudan off all nations. Its really ignoble. Its shameul.
The government should have the at least 90% of all the blame if not all. They have failed the people.
The social system is a mess compared to the natural endownment in the country. They are so insensitive to the plight of the people.
And for the ignorant guy who said Nigerians are lazy may God forgive you. Do you know the number of graduates even with 2.1 and first class roaming about the streets of Lagos.
Have you for once heard this kind of story of a Lybian. Its the same oil they have that we got.Their social system for the citizens is enviable.
Nigerians wake up.
Long live Naija.
