Iwu Won’t Be Sacked — Senate by kosovo(m): 7:41am On Mar 25, 2010
Despite the calls by some interest groups and individuals for his removal from office less than a year to the 2011 general elections, Professor Maurice Iwu got what could be described as a worthy relief from a very important quarter, as the Chairman, Senate Committee on INEC, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, said the INEC chairman would not be stampeded out of the office until his tenure expires come June.

Senator Adeleke spoke on Wednesday, while addressing protesters who thronged the National Assembly premises in support of Iwu, demanding that the INEC boss should not be removed from office because he was not the problem of the Nigeria’s electoral system.

Senator Adeleke told the pro-Iwu protesters that nobody would remove Iwu from office without going through legal procedures, since, according to him, the office of the INEC Chairman was created by the constitution and it would take a constitutional process and procedure to remove him from office
