Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium have been infested with rats with officials battling to deal with the issue.

It was gathered that council hygiene inspectors had raised an alarm after their visit to the venue.

The inspectors had found ‘extensive evidence of mouse activity’ across ‘all four levels of the stadium’.

According to local reports, mouse droppings were found under and behind ovens, under pipework in pot wash areas and under shelving units.

Staff at the North London side’s ground were unaware of the development with the officials using torchlight to show them.

“The health, safety and security of our fans is always our first priority and we were therefore very disappointed to learn of these deficiencies in October 2016,”an Arsenal spokesman said.

“Upon receiving the report, we immediately implemented a series of measures to address the areas of concern.

“We are confident in the steps we have taken in the last year and continue to work with external experts to ensure that we are taking the right actions moving forward.

”The Gunners say they are confident they have dealt with the issue after implementing a series of measures to tackle it.

“They say they are continuing to work with external companies to ensure they are ‘taking the right actions moving forward.’”
