Response To The Islam Conversion/reconversion Thread by Williamso(m): 10:09am On Jan 12, 2018 |
I read this thread https://www.nairaland.com/4274823/muslim-journey-islam-atheism-back and I got really curious and have a question for the Muslim brothers and sisters that would care to put me through on this. I refused to reply on that thread because I will not take the "nairaland Islamic oath" as I'm not Muslim. So here goes: The Qur'an proposes punishment (death) to apostates, so how could/should there be people leaving and returning to Islam? I would like to get a deeper understanding of this, and it's in no attempt to spew religious bigotry/hatred at anyone. Islamic scholars generally agree with this with the disagreement coming from how long to wait for the apostate to "repent" (1 hour? 1 month?) or how many times to ask him/her to repent (1 time? 3 times? 100 times?) before being killed. Would be nice if no one turned this into an online religious war zone. |

tartar9: I'm not saying there aren't. I'm saying that from my understanding, there aren't supposed to be. |

Williamso:In places where the law is enforced, apostates can always come to the fold of Islam without any punishment. |
