25 Goals In 16 Games – Nigeria U17 Striker Aliyu ” Bravo” Earns U20 Call Up- From Aug 15.

The red hot form of 16 year old Nigeria U17 striker Aliyu Ibrahim popularly called ‘Bravo’ has earned him a call up to the Nigeria U20 team who are through to next year African Youth Championship, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.

Bravo caught the eyes of the Nigeria U20 team selectors when a scored a hattrick in a friendly game against a team that held the Nigeria U20 team to a 2-2 draw earlier in another friendly.

Coach Paul Aigbogun has since then monitored his progress with the U17 team during their trials at the Goal Project in Abuja, and has now decided to add him to his attack ahead of the resumption of camping and training ahead of next year African Youth Championship.
Quick, strong and skillful, Bravo scored 26 goals in 16 test games with the Nigerian U17 team with the forward scoring at least two goals in each of the game he played. He scored four goals in a particular game.

Already he has established himself as a firm fan favourite among lovers of the team and the technical crew of the team have already tipped him for greatness if he continues to work hard.

Nigeria U20s Set To Beef Up Squad With Goztepe Striker Dubbed 'The New Emmanuel Adebayor'

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Flying Eagles coach Paul Aigbogun has set the wheels in motion to hand a call-up to Göztepe striker Yunusa Owolabi Muritala ahead of the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.

Aigbogun has been in touch with Muritala and has given his word that the player will be observed before the tournament in Republic of Niger.

Muritala stands at an imposing 1.92 meters and has been compared to Togolese star of Nigerian descent Emmanuel Adebayor and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

He was scouted one a half years ago by Turkish agent Serdar Ertemcoz and chose to join Göztepe despite interest from unnamed clubs in Germany and Belgium.

The striker arrived in Turkey after the close of the transfer window, so cannot make his professional debut until January 2019, but can feature for the club in the reserve league and often trains with the first team.

The five-year deal Muritala has agreed with Göztepe will be activated when the January transfer window opens for business.

Flying Eagles striker Akor fires Sogndal to historic Norway Youth Cup Final

Jerome Akor was again the hero when he dispatched the decisive penalty for Sogndal to reach the final of the Norway Youth Cup at the expense of home team Viking today.

Sogndal won 5-4 on penalties after both teams were tied on 1-1 even after extra-time.

The Flying Eagles striker also netted the winning penalty when his team ousted Odd also via penalties in the quarterfinal.

Sogndal took the lead in the first half, but Viking, who enjoyed more of the ball and created the better chances, restored parity late in the second half.

Both teams put away their first four penalties in the resulting penalty shootout, before Viking blasted their fifth kick over the bar.

It was then left for Akor to lift Sogndal to a first-ever final of the Norway Youth Cup by tucking away his own kick with an ice-cold confidence.

Sogndal will now clash in the final with the winners of the other semifinal between Lillestrom and Rosenborg.

Akor’s Sogndal battle Igho Ogbu’s Rosenborg in Norway Youth Cup Final

Sogndal parading Jerome Akor will next month battle Rosenborg, who line up defender Igho Ogbu, in the Final of this year’s Norway Youth Cup.

Akor has been capped by the Flying Eagles, while Igho featured for the Golden Eaglets in 2015.

In the semifinals, Sogndal edged past Viking 5-4 on penalties after scores after extra-time stood at 1-1.

Akor fired home the winning penalty for his team.

Ogbu played the full game when Rosenborg dumped 10-man Lillestrom 3-0 after a goalless first half.

This will be the first time Sogndal have reached the cup final.

The Flying Eagles are expected to be involved in a Wafu B Championship with the timeline indicated in the graphic below.

The draw was slated for November 6 but haven't gotten any info as to how the groupings were made or did the draws never take place?

Okay, so I did a quick search and found that the draws are yet to hold despite an earlier scheduled draw date of November 6 mentioned to the media.

The @Ufoawafub Twitter handle says the draw will take place soon.

U20 WAFU Cup rules knock out Flying Eagles stars, new discoveries

SCORENigeria has scooped that the Flying Eagles will be without several of their top stars as well some of the newly discovered players at the U20 WAFU Cup in Togo because of the rules of the tournament.

Among the rules for the sub-regional competition is that the players
must not be younger than 17 this year.

“Some of the players from the U17 can therefore not be part of the squad to Lome,” an official informed SCORENigeria

Meanwhile, defensive midfielder Jamilu Mohammed, who was part of the team who qualified the country for next year’s U20 AFCON in Niger, has been ruled out of the WAFU Cup no thanks to a long-term hamstring injury.

Skipper Ikouwem Udoh, Babawo lead ‘changed’ Flying Eagles to U20 WAFU Cup

SCORENigeria has gathered it will be “a changed” Flying Eagles for the forthcoming U20 WAFU Cup in Togo as less than half the team who qualified the country to next year’s AFCON are on this trip.

As first reported by SCORENigeria, an age rule has knocked out both players who qualified the team to the U20 AFCON in Niger as well as some new hopefuls mainly from the U17s.

Also some of the players have moved overseas.

An official informed SCORENigeria: “Only about seven players from the squad who qualified us for the AFCON will be in Togo.

“Already, there will be three new goalkeepers in Togo.”

Skipper Ikouwem Udoh, Wasiu Alalade, Valentine Ozornwafor, Abubakar Ibrahim Babawo, Maxwell Effiom and Adesina Gata are among the players from the old squad of players.

The top two goalkeepers during the U20 AFCON qualifiers, Detan Ogundare and Akpan Akpan, are not available as they are currently playing in Argentina, while Kano Pillars pair of Nazifi Yahaya and Alhassan Ibrahim are with Danish club Brondby.

The team are due to depart Nigeria for Lome on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles defeated John Utaka Academy 3-1 today in a final test game at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja.

The Nigeria U20s are drawn against rivals Ghana, Benin and Niger in Group B of the sub-regional tournament, which gets underway next weekend.

Super Akor hat-trick sinks Rosenborg for Sogndal to make history in Norway

Jerome Akor made history today in Norway – he scored a hat-trick for little Sogndal to sink mighty Rosenborg and he was also named the MVP.

The Jamba Academy star, 18, put aside the disappointment of Sogndal failure to advance in the promotion playoffs on Thursday to draw his team level after Rosenborg went in front in the first half.

‘The Black Bomber’ sprinted away from the centre circle after stealing the ball from the Rosenborg captain to fire an unstoppable left-footed shot home.

There were no goals after the break before Akor again rose to the occasion in extra time to score two more goals – a superbly taken penalty and then a brilliant solo goal when his leg-overs turned his marker inside out before he finished off beautifully with the right foot.

Revealed – Five Relatively Unknown Talented Players In Nigeria U20 Squad For WAFU Championship

Usman Bashir

Nigeria will begin their campaign at the WAFU U20 Championship on Sunday with a game against Niger Republic ‎, the first of their two group games in the tournament.

In group B they will also play Ghana for a spot in the knock out round of the tournament and Owngoalnigeria.com has picked five talented players in the squad who are expected to play a pivotal role for Nigeria at the tournament.

Abubakar “Babawo” Ibrahim: ‎An explosive forward who took the Nigeria Profesional Football League by storm last season with his performance for Niger Tornadoes. Now with Plateau United, he is the closest to Ahmed Musa in terms of style of play and not just because he can play conveniently on both flanks. Babawo excelled as a right full back in a recent friendly game against Kano Pillars, a sign of his utility value to the team.

Uche ‎Onwuasonaya: Many who watch the NPFL will attest to the fact that the Kwara United midfielder is among one of the complete all round midfielder in the league. Full of energy, and very assured in possession, his success with tackles place him a notch higher than others in his position.

Effiom Maxwell: Rated as the golden boy of Enyimba alongside Ikouwem Udoh. Maxwell has not gotten the type of hype his talent deserve. Not the quickest but about the smartest with the ball at his feet in the team. Sees holes others don’t see and also has an unusual composure in front of goal.

Usman Bashir: ‎Full of tricks, step overs and skills. He has the ability to unlock tight defences with his unpredictable quick feet. Another pacey forward snapped up by the eagle eyes Football Director of Plateau United Ahmed Ibrahim. Same who discovered Ahmed Musa, Samuel Kalu, Moses Simon, Hillary Gong and Philip Azango among others.

Olawale Oremade: The Oasis FC goalkeeper is seen as one who profited from the absence of the duo of Akpan Udoh and Daetan Ogundare but he could hold his own even if they are available. His reflex frustrated Kano Pillars in a recent friendly game andhis composure is not far off from that of a veteran even though he is yet to taste professional football.
