idiot how has ibrahim failed to establish himself on u-20. he was the top 3 best in u-17 after that he went to rwanda 2009 he was nigeria best player there, then egypt 2009 he was also the joint best him and nwankwo, and you say that he has not establish himself. if keita, olofinjana, ayila, ajilore and etuhu likes let them have experience one thing is for sure they are not half as good as ibrahim. how can someone be experienced when you are not calling him up or playing him
Hmmnnn, too bad for Nigeria. When one country has Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Mikel Arteta to choose from, we have benchwarmers in Hull city etc. God help us o.

The Spotter scouted: Nigerian starlet Rabiu Ibrahim

Despite being yet to make his breakthrough into the full Sporting side, 18 year old Nigerian Rabiu Ibrahim is rated as one of the best young players to come out of Africa in recent years - no surprise when he's capable of things like this (Go to link and check out the youtube video) . Some are even dubbing him the next Jay Jay Okocha, with the youngster sharing the explosive playing style and of course nationality of the former Bolton, PSG and Fenerbache attacking midfielder.

In fact, Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu reckons the youngster can go on to match the achievements of Barcelona star Lionel Messi. “He is a genuine playmaker, who with the right encouragement can reach the heights of top stars like Messi", Amodu told Goal.com.

Scouts from top Premier League sides such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are set to watch his progress throughout the U20 World Cup, currently taking place in Egypt, but the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter are all also said to be monitoring his progress.

Here, compiled with the help of our friends at Championship Manager, is our Scouting Report into the Africa starlet

Rabiu Ibrahim
Date of Birth: 15th March 1991 (18 years old)
Nationality: Nigerian
Club: Sporting CP (currently on loan at Real SC)
Position: Attacking midfielder
Transfer Value: £2.5 million

Career History
Ibrahim played youth football with Gateway FC in his native Nigeria. He moved to Sporting in 2007, but is yet to feature for the first team, despite being very highly regarded by the those in and around the club. He is currently on loan at Portuguese lower league side Real SC, where he’s set to spend the entire 2009/10 season. Despite being only 18 years of age, Ibrahim has been capped by the Nigerian national team. He was part of the Nigeria side that won the Under-17 World Cup in Korea in 2007 and is part of Nigeria’s team at the current Under-20 World Cup.

Playing Style
He is the playmaker of the team. He is left footed and is similar in style to Nigerian legend Jay-Jay Okocha.

Strengths
Ibrahim has great vision and reading of the game, which has helped him develop a superb range of passing. He is a very technical player and is both very good on the ball and highly creative.

Weakness
The youngster still needs to work on the physical side of his game, at the moment he’d struggle to live with some of the games more aggressive central midfield players.

What Next ?
He has a contract at Sporting until 2013. Next step will be to impress enough during his loan spell to be able to establish himself in the first team on his return. He certainly has potential to become a great player and if his development continues at the same pace he could well be gracing La Liga, Serie A or the Premier League in the next few years.

i dont know what the hulaboo about rabiu ibro is all about. watched him at the last age grade tourney and was shocked that with a man advantage 2 mins to the end of a game he was trying to dribble around the centre circle while his defenders had gone awol. to add insult to the injury he was laghing it off when our opponents went ahead to win. now thats the kind of person a nig coach is raving for to go to the world cup.

utmost rub, sh

All said, Rabiu Ibrahim deserved a look in instead of all the DM's Lagerback picked.

dude first and foremost, the list of 44 is for the training camp. in theory no one has been picked therefore to say rabiu has been ignored because of the defensive midfielders is grossly untrue. ibrahim was left out simply because lagerback does not want him . if largerback wanted, he could have invited 50 or 60 players but these 44 are the only ones he is interested in. in any case are you suggesting that lagerback should not have picked any defensive midfielders? wat has ibrahim done to "deserve" a look in??
Re: Ladan Bosso Surprised At Rabiu Ibrahim Exclusion From Worldcup List. by 12large: 4:09pm On Apr 30, 2010
why should lagerback not want him, if am getting paid 1.5 million i would do my research very well on the team, and anybody that watched nigeria games in can 2010 will know that the first thing we need is an out and out playmaker. only rabiu i8brahim fits that role well, i know his not playing first team football but if he is your only option then you will have to take him. all these experience excuse is totally rubbish
olofinjana, etuhu, ayila, ajilore, keita are not half as good as ibrahim and if 5 of them is called up then ibrahim should.
